The Schwinger SU(3) Construction - II: Relations between Heisenberg-Weyl and SU(3) Coherent States
The Schwinger oscillator operator representation of SU(3), studied in a
previous paper from the representation theory point of view, is analysed to
discuss the intimate relationships between standard oscillator coherent state
systems and systems of SU(3) coherent states. Both SU(3) standard coherent
states, based on choice of highest weight vector as fiducial vector, and
certain other specific systems of generalised coherent states, are found to be
relevant. A complete analysis is presented, covering all the oscillator
coherent states without exception, and amounting to SU(3) harmonic analysis of
these states.Comment: Latex, 51 page
Rapamycin induces transactivation of the EGFR and increases cell survival.
The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling network regulates cell growth, proliferation and cell survival. Deregulated activation of this pathway is a common event in diverse human diseases such as cancers, cardiac hypertrophy, vascular restenosis and nephrotic hypertrophy. Although mTOR inhibitor, rapamycin, has been widely used to inhibit the aberrant signaling due to mTOR activation that plays a major role in hyperproliferative diseases, in some cases rapamycin does not attenuate the cell proliferation and survival. Thus, we studied the mechanism(s) by which cells may confer resistance to rapamycin. Our data show that in a variety of cell types the mTOR inhibitor rapamycin activates extracellularly regulated kinases (Erk1/2) signaling. Rapamycin-mediated activation of the Erk1/2 signaling requires (a) the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), (b) its tyrosine kinase activity and (c) intact autophosphorylation sites on the receptor. Rapamycin treatment increases tyrosine phosphorylation of EGFR without the addition of growth factor and this transactivation of receptor involves activation of c-Src. We also show that rapamycin treatment triggers activation of cell survival signaling pathway by activating the prosurvival kinases Erk1/2 and p90RSK. These studies provide a novel paradigm by which cells escape the apoptotic actions of rapamycin and its derivatives that inhibit the mTOR pathway
Predictions for the unitarity triangle angles in a new parametrization
A new approach to the parametrization of the CKM matrix, , is considered
in which is written as a linear combination of the unit matrix and a
non-diagonal matrix which causes intergenerational-mixing, that is
. Such a depends on 3 real parameters
including the parameter . It is interesting that a value of
is required to fit the available data on the CKM-matrix
including CP-violation. Predictions of this fit for the angles ,
and for the unitarity triangle corresponding to
, are given. For
=, we obtain , and
. These values are just about in agreement, within errors,
with the present data. It is very interesting that the unitarity triangle is
expected to be approximately a right-angled, isosceles triangle. Our prediction
is in excellent agreement with the value reported by the Belle collaboration at the Lepton-Photon 2001 meeting.Comment: 11 pages, latex, no figure
Spectra of phase point operators in odd prime dimensions and the extended Clifford group
We analyse the role of the Extended Clifford group in classifying the spectra
of phase point operators within the framework laid out by Gibbons et al for
setting up Wigner distributions on discrete phase spaces based on finite
fields. To do so we regard the set of all the discrete phase spaces as a
symplectic vector space over the finite field. Auxiliary results include a
derivation of the conjugacy classes of .Comment: Latex, 19page
Mycobiome of the Bat White Nose Syndrome (WNS) Affected Caves and Mines reveals High Diversity of Fungi and Local Adaptation by the Fungal Pathogen Pseudogymnoascus (Geomyces) destructans
The investigations of the bat White Nose Syndrome (WNS) have yet to provide
answers as to how the causative fungus Pseudogymnoascus (Geomyces) destructans
(Pd) first appeared in the Northeast and how a single clone has spread rapidly
in the US and Canada. We aimed to catalogue Pd and all other fungi (mycobiome)
by the culture-dependent (CD) and culture-independent (CI) methods in four
Mines and two Caves from the epicenter of WNS zoonotic. Six hundred sixty-five
fungal isolates were obtained by CD method including the live recovery of Pd.
Seven hundred three nucleotide sequences that met the definition of operational
taxonomic units (OTUs) were recovered by CI methods. Most OTUs belonged to
unidentified clones deposited in the databases as environmental nucleic acid
sequences (ENAS). The core mycobiome of WNS affected sites comprised of 46
species of fungi from 31 genera recovered in culture, and 17 fungal genera and
31 ENAS identified from clone libraries. Fungi such as Arthroderma spp.,
Geomyces spp., Kernia spp., Mortierella spp., Penicillium spp., and
Verticillium spp. were predominant in culture while Ganoderma spp., Geomyces
spp., Mortierella spp., Penicillium spp. and Trichosporon spp. were abundant is
clone libraries. Alpha diversity analyses from CI data revealed that fungal
community structure was highly diverse. However, the true species diversity
remains undetermined due to under sampling. The frequent recovery of Pd
indicated that the pathogen has adapted to WNS-afflicted habitats. Further,
this study supports the hypothesis that Pd is an introduced species. These
findings underscore the need for integrated WNS control measures that target
both bats and the fungal pathogen.Comment: 59 pages, 7figure
Modeling and Simulation of Single-Phase Transformer Inrush Current using Neural Network
Inrush current is a transient phenomenon which occurs during energization in transformer at no load. It depends on winding impedance, time constant of transformer circuit and core magnetization characteristics. Transient phenomenon of current represents non linear characteristics due to BH curve. Transformer circuit at no load is used to obtain various data. Data is obtained using semi – analytic solution approach. These data is used to develop neural network. Neural network shows exact modeling of inrush current. Keywords: Inrush Current, ANN, Modeling
