Adsorption properties and third sound propagation in superfluid He films on carbon nanotubes
We consider the adsorption properties of superfluid He films on carbon
nanotubes. One major factor in the adsorption is the surface tension force
arising from the very small diameter of the nanotubes. Calculations show that
surface tension keeps the film thickness on the tubes very thin even when the
helium vapor is increased to the saturated pressure. The weakened Van der Waals
force due to the cylindrical geometry also contributes to this. Both of these
effects act to lower the predicted velocity of third sound propagation along
the tubes. It does not appear that superfluidity will be possible on
single-walled nanotubes of diameter about one nm, since the film thickness is
less than 3 atomic layers even at saturation. Superfluidity is possible on
larger-diameter nanotube bundles and multi-walled nanotubes, however. We have
observed third sound signals on nanotube bundles of average diameter 5 nm which
are sprayed onto a Plexiglass surface, forming a network of tubes.Comment: 4 pages, accepted for Journal of Physics: Conference Series

The Status of Matrimonial Property Ownership in Mixed Marriages
Many Indonesians have committed themselves into a mixed marriage, both in Indonesia and outside the country. Mixed marriage would mean that there are differing nationalities who abide under two different state laws and as consequence of this, issues of private International law in joint property would emerge. On the status of ownership on immovable assets such as land, the nationality principle must be paid attention to, because according to Indonesian law, only Indonesian citizens may have access to Land Ownership Rights. Thus, in mixed marriages, foreign spouses (husband or wife) may not have land ownership rights. Masyarakat Indonesia banyak yang melakukan perkawinan campuran, baik yang dilakukan di Indonesia maupun di luar negeri. Pelaksanaan perkawinan campuran menyebabkan adanya perbedaan kewarganegaraan dimana mereka tunduk pada sistem hukum yang berlainan sehingga melahirkan masalah hukum perdata Internasional dalam pengaturan harta bersama. Mengenai status kepemilikan atas benda tidak bergerak seperti tanah, terdapat asas nasionalitas yang harus diperhatikan, yaitu hanya WNI saja yang boleh mempunyai Hak Milik Atas Tanah. .The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence the motivation onemployee performance. This study uses a quantitative approach by means ofcorrelation and regression analysis. Data collected by using simple randomsampling technique with 49 respondents employees Dinas Pendapatan Daerah in Manado City. The resultsshowed that motivation to have a relationship with job performance but at a lowcategory, but motivation significant effect on employee job performance. Toincrease the motivation of employees, it is necessary to encourage the trainingthat they improve performance

A car driver often had trouble to park his car a narrow location, caused by a narrow parking area on the wane.Also, cars had often crashed the electric pillar or scratched the car on the wall while retreat. The problem was the driverdidn\u27t know condition behind vehicle because of limited of view. The research aimed to make a system that can easily helpdriver in parking his car, by using of ultrasonic parking sensor. The method used in sensor scheme parks is ultrasonicisensor to detect and measure car and balk distance by utilising of 851 family microcontroller as the main system. Theresult indicates that ultrasonic censor effective deep measurement was on distance of 2 cm – 30 m. It is that enoughultrasonic censor is effective to be implemented on censor parks
Policy Options for Rice and Corn Farmers in the Face of Seasonal Climate Variability
In the face of seasonal climate variability, the smallholder farmers, particularly those in rural communities, are among the most adversely affected. As a way to address this, together with concern on low productivity, the Philippine government has been implementing a range of risk management programs for farmers and other agricultural stakeholders. Based on key informant surveys and focus group discussions with rice and corn farmers conducted in key producing areas, however, farmers reported that they still have limited options in terms of changing their production decisions in response to seasonal climate forecasts (SCFs). Among the risk mitigation tools available, the following emerged as most preferred by farmers: localized climate information, accessible credit, crop insurance, and special assistance programs such as irrigation and seeds provision. This paper tackles these programs in detail and then discusses the challenges besetting these programs. The paper also presents some policy options which could enhance the delivery of these agricultural services in pursuit of improved productivity and welfare in target farming communities in the country
Climate Variability, Seasonal Climate Forecast, and Corn Farming in Isabela, Philippines: a Farm and Household Level Analysis
Seasonal climate forecast (SCF) is one of the tools that could help farmers and decisionmakers better prepare for seasonal variability. However, a cloud of uncertainty looms over the true value of SCF to its target users. To shed light on the true value of SCF in local agricultural decisionmaking and operations, farm and household level survey was conducted. A total of 85 corn farmers from the plains and highlands of Echague and Angadanan, Isabela were interviewed. Results showed that climate and climate-related information were undoubtedly among the major factors being considered by farmers in their crop production activities. All aspects explored on the psychology of corn growers pointed to the high level of importance given to climatic conditions and SCF use. This was evident on the farmers' perceptions, attitudes, and decisionmaking processes. Though the high regard of farmers on climate forecast and information cannot be questioned, actual application of such information seemed still wanting. Reliable indigenous knowledge on climate forecasting was scarce. With corn farmers in Isabela still thirsting for climate-related information, the delivery of appropriate information and accurate forecasts should be addressed through proper extension and provision of support
