The role of machine learning in identification of early gestational diabetes mellitus prediction models

    Get PDF
Introduction: Gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM) is a condition in which carbohydrate intolerance develops during pregnancy. The estimated prevalence of GDM ranges from less than 1% to 28% and is commonly diagnosed between 24 and 28 weeks of gestation. Untreated GDM represents a severe threat to the affected women and their offspring. Machine learning (ML) is a computer science discipline focused on algorithms that improve automatically through experience to make predictions or decisions without being explicitly programmed to do so

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of a 12-week speed, agility and quickness (SAQ) training program on speed and flexibility in young soccer players. One hundred and thirty-two soccer players were randomly assigned to experimental (EG; n = 66, MeanĀ±SD: age: 18.5 Ā± 0.4 years (range 17-19 years); body mass: 71.30 Ā± 5.93 kg; stature: 177.2 Ā± 6.5 cm) and control groups (CG; n = 66, MeanĀ±SD: age: 18.6 Ā± 0.6 years (range 17-19 years); body mass: 70.63 Ā± 4.87 kg; stature: 175.9 Ā± 5.7 cm). The experimental group performed SAQ training whilst the control group undertook straight-line sprint training matched for volume and duration. Sprint performance was assessed using 5 m and 10 m sprints and a further test including maximal speed, a 20 m sprint. Flexibility was assessed using sit and reach, V-sit and reach, leg lift from supine position and lateral leg lift while lying on the side tests. Sprints over 5, 10 and 20 m did not differ between groups at baseline, but by week 12, the 5 m sprint had significantly improved (P 0.05) for all flexibility tests were found between experimental and control group at baseline and after the training programmes. Consequently SAQ training was found to be an effective way of improving sprint time for short distances over 5 and 10 m but not over 20 m (where maximum speed was achieved) or flexibility. These results indicate that SAQ training may be more effective for improving sprint performance for some soccer players but more research is required to determine ideal training methods for improving acceleration and flexibility in young soccer players

    Get PDF
Powdery nickel ferrite, NiFe2O4 has been obtained by soft mechanochemical synthesis in a planetary ball mill. Ni(OH)2 and Fe(OH)3 are used as initial compounds. This mixture was mechanically activated for 25h, uniaxial pressed and sintered at 1100Ā°C for 2h. The phase composition of the sintered sample was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and Raman spectroscopy. Morphologies were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The electrical DC/resistivity/conductivity at different temperatures was measured using a Source Meter Keithley 2410. An Impedance/Gain-Phase Analyzer (HP-4194) was used to measure the impedance spectra (100Hz - 10MHz) at different temperatures. [Projekat Ministarstva nauke Republike Srbije, br. III 45003 i br. Space-Time High-Resolution Data of The Potential Insolation and Solar Duration for Montenegro

    Get PDF
The assessment of the potential use of renewable energy resources requires reliable and precise data inputs for sustainable energy planning on a regional, national and local scale. In this study, we examine high spatial resolution grids of potential insolation and solar duration in order to determine the location of potential solar power plants in Montenegro. Grids with a 25-m spatial resolution of potential solar radiation and duration were produced based on observational records and publicly available high-resolution digital elevation model provided by the European Environment Agency. These results could be further used for the estimation and selection of a specific location for solar panels. With an average annual potential insolation of 1800 kWh/mĀ² and solar duration of over 2000 h per year for most of its territory, Montenegro is one of the European countries with the highest potential for the development, production, and consumption of solar energy

    Get PDF
[Abstract] (1) Background: Modern medicine generates a great deal of information that stored in medical databases. Simultaneously, extracting useful knowledge and making scientific decisions for diagnosis and treatment of diseases becomes increasingly necessary. Headache disorders are the most prevalent of all the neurological conditions. Headaches have not only medical but also great socioeconomic significance. The aim of this research is to develop an intelligent system for diagnosing primary headache disorders. (2) Methods: This research applied various mathematical, statistical and artificial intelligence techniques, among which the most important are: Calinski-Harabasz index, Analytical Hierarchy Process, and Weighted Fuzzy C-means Clustering Algorithm. These methods, techniques and methodologies are used to create a hybrid intelligent system for diagnosing primary headache disorders. The proposed intelligent diagnostic system is tested with original real-world data set with different metrics. (3) Results: First at all, nine of 20 attributes ā€“ features from International Headache Society (IHS) criteria are selected, and then only five most important attributes from IHS criteria are selected. The calculation result based on the Calinskiā€“Harabasz index value (178) for the optimal number of clusters is three, and they present three classes of headaches: (i) migraine, (ii) tension-type headaches (TTHs), and (iii) other primary headaches (OPHs). The proposed hybrid intelligent system shows the following quality metrics: Accuracy 75%; Precision 67% for migraine, 74% for TTHs, 86% for OPHs, and Average Precision 77%; Recall 86% for migraine, 73% for TTHs, 67% for OPHs, Average Recall 75%; F1 score 75% for migraine, 74% for TTHs, 75% for OPHs, and Average F1 score 75%. (4) Conclusions: The hybrid intelligent system presents qualitative and respectable experimental results. The implementation of existing diagnostics systems and the development of new diagnostics systems in medicine is necessary in order to help physicians make quality diagnosis and decide the best treatments for the patients.Ministerio de Ciencia e InnovaciĆ³n; MINECO-TIN2017-84804-RGobierno del Principado de Asturias; FCGRUPIN-IDI/2018/000226Serbia. The machinability of nickel-based alloys in high-pressure jet assisted (HPJA) turning

    Get PDF
Due to their mechanical, thermal and chemical properties, nickel-based alloys are generally included among materials that are hard to machine. An experimental study has been performed to investigate the capabilities of conventional and high-pressure jet assisted (HPJA) turning of hard-to-machine materials, namely Inconel 718. The capabilities of different hard turning procedures are compared by means of chip breakability. The obtained results show that HPJA method offers a significant increase in chip breakability, under the same cutting conditions (cutting speed, feed rate, depth of cut)

Exposure to aluminium during gestation causes changes in mammalian brain development and behavior. Our aim was to perform spectral analysis on electrocortical activity of Sprague Dawley male pups (30Ā±3 days of age) whose mothers were treated with aluminium during gestation and lactation. There was a higher presence of power spectra in the delta range of parietal electrocortical activity, a lower presence in the theta range and increased values of the parameter DT as the ratio of delta to theta range in pups indirectly exposed to aluminium (whose mothers were drinking a 0.5% water solution of aluminium chloride during the gestation and lactation periods), compared to controls. Projekat ministarstva br. 14302

Risks in the Role of Co-Creating the Future of Tourism in ā€œStigmatizedā€ Destinations

    Get PDF
The primary goal of this paper was to investigate the strength of the influence of different types of risk on the travelersā€™ intention to visit destinations in future, that are, prejudiced due to COVID-19, marked as ā€œstigmatizedā€, ā€œisolatedā€, or ā€œrisky destinationsā€. Field interview research was conducted at the ā€œBelgrade Nikola Tesla Airportā€ (Serbia). The results obtained by multiple regression analysis showed that all types of risks influenced the intention of travelers, with financial risk showing a more significant impact. Canonical discriminant analysis indicated that men were most afraid of human induced risk, service quality risk, natural disaster and COVID-19 risk, and they chose safer destinations. Among the women, the biggest fear was financial risk, socio-psychological risk, and food safety risk. Older respondents and those under the influence of external factors decided on safer destinations, while financial status did not play a significant role in predicting the choice of destination. The selection of the destination according to the degree of security was determined by the ordinal regression methodology. The entire research presents a certain novelty, because so far in the numerous studies on the topic of the negative consequences of COVID-19 on tourism, there has been no discussion of stigmatized or risky destinations that received that epithet, and were therefore negatively and unfairly marked in the minds of tourists for future visits
