A random walk model to study the cycles emerging from the exploration-exploitation trade-off

We present a model for a random walk with memory, phenomenologically inspired in a biological system. The walker has the capacity to remember the time of the last visit to each site and the step taken from there. This memory affects the behavior of the walker each time it reaches an already visited site modulating the probability of repeating previous moves. This probability increases with the time elapsed from the last visit. A biological analog of the walker is a frugivore, with the lattice sites representing plants. The memory effect can be associated with the time needed by plants to recover its fruit load. We propose two different strategies, conservative and explorative, as well as intermediate cases, leading to non intuitive interesting results, such as the emergence of cycles.Comment: To appear in Phys. Abstrack - Many agencies and companies are required to modernize management management from manual systems to computerized systems. LKP Grace Education Center is an institution that stands in the field of education where its main activity is to serve and provide the best service, and also employs quite a number of employees, the payroll system currently running at LKP Grace Education Center still uses traditional / manual methods. Delays often occur in processing employee salaries due to the accumulation of salary payment processing that is still done traditionally / manually, because data must be recorded or processed repeatedly in an effort to compile employee salary reports. With the existence of a computerized system it is expected to improve work efficiency, speed, and accuracy in a decision making. In an effort to prevent fraud that might occur to payroll to the workforce it is necessary to have a payroll information system, where there are forms, records and procedures used to determine the salary that must be given to the workforce. Pesticide Exposure, Behavior of Farmer, and Activity of Cholinesterase Enzyme in Blood of Fertile Women Farmers

Fertile women farmers are risky of suffering decrease of cholinesterase activity due to pesticide exposure. This study aimed to analyze relation between pesticide exposure and the exposure agent to cholinesterase activity of fertile women workers at Kedunguter Village. This study used cross-sectional design on 94 fertile women farmers in 2015. Data was collected by observation, interview and cholinesterase test. Data analysis used chi-square test and analysis results showed a significant relation between pesticide types, working time, the use of gloves, hand-washing behavior to cholinesterase activity of fertile women farmers. Analysis results of this study showed that variable working time had the highest odds ratio (OR) score (OR = 14.072), so the variable working time is the most dominant variable in influencing cholinesterase enzyme. This study suggests that fertile women farmers should work not more than six hours per day

The COP9 SIGNALOSOME is required for postembryonic meristem maintenance in Arabidopsis thaliana

Cullin-RING E3 ligases (CRLs) regulate different aspects of plant development, and are activated by modification of their cullin subunit with the ubiquitin-like protein NEDD8 (NEural precursor cell expressed Developmentally Down-regulated 8) (neddylation) and deactivated by NEDD8 removal (deneddylation). The CONSTITUTIVELY PHOTOMORPHOGENIC9 (COP9) signalosome (CSN) acts as a molecular switch of CRLs activity by reverting their neddylation status, but its contribution to embryonic and early seedling development remains poorly characterized. Here, we analyzed the phenotypic defects of csn mutants and monitored the cullin deneddylation/neddylation ratio during embryonic and early seedling development. We show that while csn mutants can complete embryogenesis (albeit at a slower pace than wild type) and are able to germinate (albeit at a reduced rate), they progressively loose meristem activity upon germination, until they become unable to sustain growth. We also show that the majority of cullin proteins is progressively neddylated during the late stages of seed maturation and becomes deneddylated upon seed germination. This developmentally regulated shift in the cullin neddylation status is absent in csn mutants. We conclude that the CSN and its cullin deneddylation activity are required to sustain postembryonic meristem function in Arabidopsis

Perbandingan Efektivitas Krim Urea 10% dan Krim Niasinamid 4% terhadap Hidrasi Kulit Pasien Dermatitis Atopik

Banyak penelitian telah menunjukkan penurunan hidrasi stratum korneum pada kulit pasien dermatitis atopik (DA) dengan atau tanpa lesi dibanding kontrol sehat. Pelembab yang mengandung seramid saat ini banyak tersedia dan sering digunakan untuk meningkatkan hidrasi kulit pasien DA, namun harga pelembab tersebut tidak ekonomis. Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelembab yang mengandung urea atau niasinamid juga dapat meningkatkan hidrasi kulit pasien DA secara signifikan dengan harga lebih ekonomis dibanding pelembab yang mengandung seramid. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan efektivitas krim urea 10% dan krim niasinaid 4% terhadap hidrasi kulit pasien DA. Pada penelitian eksperimental buta ganda ini, subjek dibagi secara acak menjadi dua kelompok pengobatan yaitu 33 subjek mendapat krim urea 10% dan 33 subjek mendapat krim niasinamid 4% selama 4 pekan. Anamnesis, pengukuran hidrasi kulit pre-ekperimental dan post-eksperimental dilakukan pada semua subjek. Hasil penelitian didapatkan hidrasi kulit post-eksperimental pada kedua kelompok meningkat secara bermakna (p=0.000). Angka kesembuhan hidrasi kulit pada kelompok urea adalah 93.9% dan kelompok niasinamid adalah 84.8%, namun perbedaan tersebut tidak bermakna (p=0.389). Perbandingan efektivitas kedua kelompok didapatkan tidak berbeda secara bermakna (p=0.315). Kesimpulan penelitian ini tidak terdapat perbedaan efektivitas yang bermakna antara krim urea 10%dan krim niasinamid 4% terhadap hidrasi kulit pasien DA

Therefore the use of patchwork can be a solution to overcome waste processing problem. Team of community service invited the group of PKK at Kuwasen as partners to carry out activities of illumination and motivation, training, and evaluation. Based on community service activities, team and partners succeeded in making APE Pillow Doll, as well as the socialization of its use as a home based education media. The outcome of APE Pillow Doll can be applied as a medium for learning English and Hija'iyyah for early childhood, both in the home and formal school

Adjacency Pairs Analysis In “Red Riding Hood’s” Movie

In our life, we always convey message by two patterns. There are automatic pattern and mix of different sequence pattern. The objectives of this research are to describe the way characters in Red Riding Hood movie show pattern of adjacency pairs and the language function of the utterances forming adjacency pairs in the dialogue. The data are the conversation in Red Riding Hood movie. In collecting the data, the writer applied the documentation and observation. The theories used are the Levinson theory. The several steps are done to analyze the data. In analyzing the conversations to get the pattern of adjacency pairs, the steps are: selecting the movie, download the manuscript of the movie, watching the movie and take a note the dialogues that content directive utterance, identifying the directives utterances that show a pair of statement and response into one data or group. This results show that (1) the patterns of adjacency pairs used in Red Riding Hood movie are: automatic pattern and mix of different sequence, and (2) the language functions used in the dialogue of Red Riding Hood Movie are: request, question, complain, offer, threat, hold

Pengaruh Pajanan Nitrogen Dioksida (N02) terhadap Berat Badan Lahir Rendah (Bblr), di Kota Palembang, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan

Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) becomes one of primary variables in several studies to determine its effect on the occurence of Infants with Low Birth Weight (LBW). This study aimed to analyze the association of NO2 exposures in ambient air with the occurrence of babies with LBW in Palembang City using case-control design involving 45 cases and 45 controls. Data of ambient air quality were from the Environment Agency of Palembang including NO2 and co-pollutants (SO2, CO and PM10). Other data were certain information obtained from interview with respondents. Quantitative data were analyzed by chi-square and multiple logistic regressions. The study revealed that NO2 exposures in ambient air during the first trimester associated with the occurrence of LBW (OR: 2.74: 95% CI: 1.16-6.45). Third trimester pregnancy was also associated with the occurrence of LBW (OR: 6.01: 95% CI: 2.29-15.70). The NO2 exposures in ambient air in the third trimester of pregnancy was the variable that mostly affects the babies with LBW after controlled by the CO and PM10 exposures at first trimester; the exposures of SO2, CO and PM10 at second trimester; concomitant diseases during pregnancy; mother's age at the time of pregnancy; mother's nutritional status during pregnancy; second-hand tobacco smoke; and exposures of indoor air pollution during pregnancy (OR: 11.51; 95% CI: 2.02- 65.79)
