The development of a typology of abusive coaching behaviours within youth sport
Copyright @ 2010 Multi-Science Publishing. The purpose of this article was to create the Typology of Coaching Transgressions model (TOCT), which is concerned with abuse, neglect and violence in youth sport. Comments provided by the Justplay Behaviour Management Program from two competitive hockey associations and one large soccer association were analyzed and sorted to assess the utility of the model to capture inappropriate coaching behaviours. A total of 540 comments were examined deductively using the TOCT. Approximately 80% of coaching transgressions were of an indirect nature (i.e., not directed at the athlete specifically), indicating that young athletes are exposed to forms of abuse, neglect, and violence that may create harm in ways not yet fully understood. These findings illuminate the importance of understanding the nature and impact of coaching conduct on youth sport participants
Native and Naturalized Turf Species Suitable for Use on Airfields Managed for Wildlife Hazards in the Northeast
Habitat management is an important component of an integrated approach for reducing wildlife hazards on airfields. This research examines alternative turf species that are either native or naturalized in the northeastern United States. Many native turf species tend to not be attractive to wildlife due to their low palatability and seed production. These species may have uses on airfields, golf courses and in residential areas where geese and other wildlife are in conflict with humans. While the low seed productivity in some native species is a wildlife deterrent, this same trait is associated with poor establishment rates. Our goal was to find the most successful means of germinating these species using a hydroseeding application so they can be utilized as part of an airfield vegetation management design. Our data will show the evaluation of plant vigor conducted under controlled greenhouse conditions. Some of the species tested include Pennsylvania sedge (Carex pennsylvanica), little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium), crinkled hair grass (Deschampsia flexuosa), and purple love grass (Eragrostis spectabilis). By evaluating each species for their suitability for hydroseeding, germination, and early vigor we are able to make recommendations for hydroseeding native species at airfields managed for reducing wildlife hazards
Chirp filtering in the fractional Fourier Domain
Cataloged from PDF version of article. In the Wigner domain of a one-dimensional function, a certain chirp term represents a rotated line delta
function. On the other hand, a fractional Fourier transform (FRT) can be associated with a rotation of
the Wigner-distribution function by an angle connected with the FRT order. Thus with the FRT tool a chirp and a delta function can be transformed one into the other. Taking the chirp as additive noise, the
FRT is used for filtering the line delta function in the appropriate fractional Fourier domain.
Experimental filtering results for a Gaussian input function, which is modulated by an additive chirp noise, are shown. Excellent agreement between experiments and computer simulations is achieved
Fractional Fourier Transform- Simulations and experimental results
Cataloged from PDF version of article.Recently two optical interpretations of the fractional Fourier transform operator were introduced. We
address implementation issues of the fractional-Fourier-transform operation. We show that the original
bulk-optics configuration for performing the fractional-Fourier-transform operation 3J. Opt. Soc. Am. A

asymmetrical setup is suggested and tested. For comparison, computer simulations were performed.
A good agreement between computer simulations and experimental results was obtained
Telecommunications systems design techniques handbook
Handbook presents design and analysis of tracking, telemetry, and command functions utilized in these systems with particular emphasis on deep-space telecommunications. Antenna requirements are also discussed. Handbook provides number of tables outlining various performance criteria. Block diagrams and performance charts are also presented
Abundance analysis of a nitrogen-rich extreme-helium hot subdwarf from the SALT survey
We have performed a detailed spectral analysis of the helium-rich hot
subdwarf EC 20187-4939 using data obtained in the SALT survey of helium-rich
hot subdwarfs. We have measured its effective temperature, surface gravity and
chemical abundances from the spectrum. Its radius has also been determined by
fitting the spectral energy distribution using photometric data, from which a
mass of 0.44 Msun has been inferred using the measurement of surface gravity.
This star is particularly abundant in helium and nitrogen, whilst being both
carbon and oxygen-weak. The surface abundances and mass have been found to be
consistent with a helium white dwarf merger product. The abundance effects of
alpha captures on nitrogen during the merger process and possible connections
between EC 20187-4939 and other carbon-weak related objects are discussed.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, 5 tables, accepted for publication in MNRA
Anamorphic Fractional Fourier Transforming--Optical Implementation and Applications
Cataloged from PDF version of article. An additional degree of freedom is introduced to fractional-Fourier-transform systems by use of anamorphic optics. A different fractional Fourier order along the orthogonal principal directions is performed. A laboratory experimental system shows preliminary results that demonstrate the proposed theory. Applications such as anamorphic fractional correlation and multiplexing in fractional domains are briefly suggested. (C) 1995 Optical Society of Americ

Bubble wall velocities in the Standard Model and beyond
We present results for the bubble wall velocity and bubble wall thickness during a cosmological first-order phase transition in a condensed form. Our results are for minimal extensions of the Standard Model but in principle are applicable to a much broader class of settings. Our first assumption about the model is that only the electroweak Higgs is obtaining a vacuum expectation value during the phase transition. The second is that most of the friction is produced by electroweak gauge bosons and top quarks. Under these assumptions the bubble wall velocity and thickness can be deduced as a function of two equilibrium properties of the plasma: the strength of the phase transition and the pressure difference along the bubble wall
