Introduction: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), spinal disorders affect approximately 80% of the population at some point in their lives. Individuals affected by these conditions are frequent users of health services. This aspect causes an increase in health demand and, consequently, in the direct costs arising from care. In this sense, understanding the sociodemographic characteristics of individuals affected by this condition can help in planning goals and organizing services. Objective: To characterize a population of individuals with spinal disorders treated at the outpatient clinic of a large hospital in the Federal District, in 2018. Method: Cross-sectional study approved by CEP/FEPECS (26011419.7.3001.5553), comprising individuals with chronic disorders in the column. Data were descriptively analyzed using mean and standard deviation, relative and absolute frequencies. Results: 200 electronic medical records were analyzed. It was found that the majority of participants were female (75%), married (31%), service workers and commerce sellers (27%) and sedentary (51%). Mean age was 52 years (SD: 15). Among the most frequent comorbidities, Systemic Arterial Hypertension (45%) and Depression (22.5%) stood out. It was observed that the most frequent spinal disorder was low back pain (84%). Conclusion: Our findings demonstrate that individuals with spinal disorders seen at the outpatient clinic investigated were mostly women aged between 40 and 60 years, sedentary and with the presence of comorbidities. Low back pain was the most prevalent condition

No entanto, pouca
próximos anos no Brasil.
health care at all levels through the Health Care Networks (RAS). Spinal
disorders are considered a complex public health problem and are among the
main non-communicable chronic diseases that result in years lived with disability
around the world. However, little attention has been given to this condition within
the health systems. This is relevant as there are estimates of an increase in the
prevalence of spinal disorders in the coming years in Brazil. Objectives: To
investigate the flow of individuals with non-specific spinal disorders within the
Health Care Networks, verify the quantity of procedures and interventions
adopted and verify whether sociodemographic and clinical variables predict the
total number of diagnostic imaging testing, total medications prescribed and the
first access in the RAS, in the Federal District. Method: This is a historical cohort
study, in which the medical records of individuals with non-specific spinal
disorders were analysed between 2012-2018. Data were presented descriptively
through median and quartiles (25%;75%). Generalized linear models were used
to estimate the association between sociodemographic and clinical data and the
number of medications and imaging tests prescribed. Multinomial logistic
regression was used to estimate the association between clinical and
demographic variables and place of first access. Results: We investigated the
medical records from 327 individuals. The median age was 57 years and the
majority were women. The emergency room was the most accessed instance
(43.7%) and non-specific low back pain was the most prevalent condition
(76.8%). Most individuals underwent imaging exams (60%) and medication
prescription (86%). Physical exercises were prescribed to 13% of people and
55% were referred to a physical therapist. Women were more likely to access the
emergency room first and, when this instance was the choice for the first access,
there was a greater number of prescribed medications. Conclusion: The
emergency room was the instance most used by the participants. Most have
undergone low scientific evidence clinical procedures for the management of
non-specific spinal disorders. Few received exercise prescription and half of the
participants were referred to a physical therapist. Individuals who used the
Ambulatory and Primary Care had fewer prescriptions and women had a greater
chance of accessing the emergency room for the first time. Increasing age was
associated with a greater chance of accessing outpatient clinics as the first
contact with the network
The care pathway of individuals with spinal disorders in a Health Care Network in the Federal District, Brazil:a retrospective study
Background: Understanding the care pathway is essential to identify how to effectively treat spinal disorders. However, there is no specific data on the pathway of these individuals in the Health Care Networks (HCN) in Brazil. Objective: To investigate the pathway of individuals with non-specific spinal disorders (NSD) in the HCN in the Federal District, Brazil, and verify the interventions adopted, and to test whether sociodemographic and clinical variables predict the number of imaging tests, prescribed medication, and the first HCN access. Methods: Retrospective study that analysed electronic records of 327 individuals with NSD between 2012 and 2018. Generalized linear models estimated the association between sociodemographic and clinical data and number of drugs prescribed and imaging tests requested. Multinomial logistic regression estimated the association between clinical and demographic variables and setting of first access. Results: The median age was 57 years, and 75.5% were women. Emergency Department (ED) was the most accessed setting (43.7%), and back pain was the most prevalent condition (84.5%). Most individuals underwent imaging tests (60%) and drug prescriptions (86%). Physical exercises were prescribed to 13%, and 55% were referred to physical therapy. Women were more likely to first access the ED. Conclusion: The ED was the most used setting by people with NSD. Few participants received exercise prescriptions and half were referred to physical therapists. Individuals who used outpatient clinics and primary care received less drug prescriptions, and women were more likely to first access the ED. Increasing age was associated with greater chance of first accessing Outpatient Clinics.</p
An application-oriented methodology for consideration of material degradation effects due to cutting on iron losses and magnetizability
In this study, we have investigated the stability of the antigenotoxic properties of dried of Lentinula edodes (Berk.) Singer mushroom powder stored at room and at -20C. Mice were pretreated by gavage for 15 consecutive days with 0.6 mL/day of an aqueous extract of dried L. edodes powder prepared at 60C. on day 15, the mice were intraperitoneally injected with 50 mg/kg N-ethyl-N-nitrosourea (ENU); 3 h later, peripheral blood was withdrawn from the animals and used to evaluate DNA damage using the comet assay. The mice were sacrificed 24 h after the ENU treatment and the bone marrow used to measure the frequency of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes. The results indicated that storage at both room temperature and at -20C significantly reduced the antigenotoxic effects of the mushroom powder. In addition, whereas freshly dried mushroom powder was nongenotoxic, storage of the powder at -20C resulted in genotoxic activity (P < 0.05). Taken together, our data indicate that constituents of L. edodes powder are altered during storage, resulting in both genotoxicity and a reduction in antigenotoxicity.Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq
