IzkuŔnje migrantk v Sloveniji pred in po njeni osamosvojitvi
The author compares, using qualitative interviews with female migrants from Bosnia and Herzegovina of Bosniak ethnic background, the experiences of migrants coming to Slovenia before its independence and those coming after the break-up of the common Yugoslav state. She assumes that the creation of a sovereign Slovenian nation-state and the process of Sloveniaās accession towards the European Union, have contributed to an increasing insecurity and vulnerability of female migrants from third-countries. The interviews speak in favour of the assumption that existing migration regimes in Slovenia point to an increasingly restrictive migration policy.Avtorica z uporabo kvalitativnih intervjujev z migrantkami iz Bosne in Hercegovine boÅ”njaÅ”ke etniÄne pripadnosti primerja izkuÅ”nje migrantk, ki so v Slovenijo priÅ”le pred njeno osamosvojitvijo, in tistih, ki so priÅ”le po razpadu skupne jugoslovanske države. Domneva, da sta oblikovanje suverene slovenske nacionalne države in proces vkljuÄevanja Slovenije v Evropsko unijo prispevala k naraÅ”ÄajoÄi negotovosti in ranljivosti migrantk iz t.i. tretjih držav. Pogovori potrjujejo domnevo, da obstojeÄi migracijski režimi kažejo na vedno veÄjo restriktivnost migracijskih politik v Sloveniji
Vloga etniÄnosti v kvalitativnih raziskavah migracij
In contemporary social science research, researchers largely perceive ethnic groups as a result of a process of boundary making rather than a taken for granted part of our world. However, in methodological terms, researchers often still see ethnicity as imposed on the research process rather than as constructed throughout it. Using personal experience from several research projects, the author first presents the role of ethnic belonging in her research. She then identifies other factors as crucial in negotiating her insider/outsider status in the āfieldā. The author shows that the researcherās insider/outsider status is not a fixed category, but is rather negotiated in the research process, depending on the researcherās multiple and shifting positionalities. Drawing on the critique of methodological nationalism and on the theories of transnationalism in the social sciences and the humanities, she discusses the recent transformations of research designs in qualitative migration research and argues for more de-ethnicised research on migration. On this basis, she calls for migration research beyond locally bounded research sites.U suvremenim istraživanjima u druÅ”tvenim znanostima istraživaÄi percipiraju etniÄke skupine uglavnom kao posljedicu postavljanja granica meÄu njima, a ne kao dio svijeta razumljiv sam po sebi. Ipak, u metodoloÅ”kom smislu etniÄnost joÅ” uvijek vide kao izvana nametnutu istraživaÄkom procesu, a ne kao kroz njega konstruiranu. Na temelju osobnog iskustva iz nekoliko znanstvenih projekata autorica najprije govori o ulozi etniÄke pripadnosti u svom istraživanju te potom odreÄuje druge faktore koji su se pokazali znaÄajnima u (pre)oblikovanju njezina statusa insajdera odnosno autsajdera u prouÄavanim skupinama. Autorica upozorava da taj status nije fiksna kategorija, nego se o njemu pregovara u istraživaÄkom procesu, ovisno o istraživaÄevim viÅ”estrukim i promjenjivim pozicioniranjima. OslanjajuÄi se na kritiku metodoloÅ”kog nacionalizma i na teorije transnacionalizma u druÅ”tvenim i humanistiÄkim znanostima, autorica raspravlja o suvremenim transformacijama nacrta istraživanja u kvalitativnim migracijskim istraživanjima i zalaže se za viÅ”e deetnicizirano istraživanja migracija. Na temelju toga zagovara istraživanje migracija izvan iskljuÄivo lokalno ograniÄenih istraživanja mjesta.V sodobnem družboslovnem raziskovanju raziskovalci etniÄne skupine prevladujoÄe razumejo kot rezultat procesa razmejevanja med razliÄnimi etniÄnimi skupinami in ne kot samoumeven del sveta. Vendar v metodoloÅ”kem smislu etniÄnost Å”e vedno vidijo kot zunanjo raziskovalnemu procesu in ne kot konstruirano skozi le-tega. Na podlagi osebnih izkuÅ”enj iz razliÄnih raziskovalnih projektov avtorica najprej predstavi vlogo etniÄne pripadnosti v svojem raziskovanju. V nadaljevanju predstavi druge dejavnike, ki so se na terenu pokazali kot pomembni pri (pre)oblikovanju njenega statusa insiderke oziroma outsiderke med prouÄevanimi skupinami. Avtorica pokaže, da ta status ni statiÄna kategorija, temveÄ je del pogajanj v raziskovalnem procesu in je odvisen od raziskovalÄevih mnogoterih in spreminjajoÄih se pozicij. Na podlagi kritike metodoloÅ”kega nacionalizma in teorij transnacionalnosti v družboslovnih kot tudi v humanistiÄnih znanostih, obravnava nedavne spremembe raziskovalnih naÄrtov v kvalitativnem raziskovanju migracij. Zavzema se za raziskovanje migracij, ki ne bo prevladujoÄe temeljilo na etniÄni pripadnosti migrantov in bo segalo preko zgolj lokalno doloÄenih raziskovalnih lokacij
Contestable Demographic Reasoning Regarding Labour Mobility and Migration
Besedilo ponuja pregled vpraÅ”ljivega demografskega umovanja migracij in mobilnosti, ki Å”e vedno vztraja pri ideji nacionalnega prebivalstva kot zaprtega in zamejenega sistema. Äeprav je svobodno gibanje ljudi med temeljnimi naÄeli Evropske unije, je njihova mobilnost selektivna in na razliÄne naÄine omejena. Na podlagi izbranih raziskav delovne mobilnosti in delovnih migracij v Evropski uniji avtorici potrjujeta, da delovne mobilnosti in migracije politike Å”e vedno razporejajo kot bolj ali manj upraviÄene do gibanja Äez meje nacionalnih držav Evropske unije.The essay provides a review of contestable demographic reasoning applied in relation to migration and mobility, in which the notion of the national population as a closed and bounded system still persists. Although free movement of people has been enshrined as one of the fundamental principles of the European Union, their mobility within it remains selective and curtailed in various ways. Drawing on selecĀted studies of labour mobility and migration within the European Union, the authors argue that labour mobility and migration policies continue to categorise people as either more or less entitled to move across the European Unionās internal borders
Spol in migracija
The theoretical part of the monograph (' Gender and migration: experiences of women as actors of migration') is based on researching the meaning of gender for understanding migration processes and their classifications. By analysing established approaches in migration and related studies the author shows that the definition of the term migrant is related to processed of inclusion as well as exclusion. Through life-stories of female migrants the author tries to explain the wider social context of migration, which, despite the rise of qualitative migration studies in the last two decades, is still lacking in established approaches to migration. The main focus of research is on experiences and perspectives of female migrants. By combining theoretical and epistemological approaches in migration studies as well as in women and gender studies, the monograph contributes to enriching knowledge in both fields.IzhodiÅ”Äe teoretiÄnega dela monografije je raziskovanje pomena spola za razumevanje migracijskih procesov in njihovih razliÄnih klasifikacij. Z analizo uveljavljenih pristopov migracijskih in sorodnih Å”tudij avtorica pokaže, da je že sama definicija pojma migrant proces, ki vkljuÄuje procese vkljuÄevanja kot tudi izkljuÄevanja. S pomoÄjo analize življenjskih zgodb migrantk avtorica skuÅ”a v monografiji pojasniti Å”irÅ”e družbene okoliÅ”Äine migracije, kar je Å”e vedno, navkljub porastu Å”tevila kvalitativnih Å”tudij na podroÄju migracijske teorije v zadnjih dveh desetletjih, manko bolj uveljavljenih pristopov. Prednost raziskave je v tem, da je temeljni poudarek na izkuÅ”njah in perspektivah migrantk samih. PriroÄnik za obvladovanje psihosocialnih tveganj in absentizma s pomoÄjo orodja e-OPSA
A handbook for managing psychosocial risks and absenteeism with e-OPSA tool' is an integral part of the new, freely available tool aimed at management of psychosocial risks and health-related absenteeism (e-OPSA~www.opsa.si). An adapted version of e-OPSA for employed in the selected activities of the public sector (public administration, municipalities, courts, public agencies, ministries, etc.). Besides introducing the problem of psychosocial burdens experienced by employees at their workplace and beyond, this handbook can be used as a useful instrument for designing a various promotional and preventive arrangements which bettering employeesā health and well-being in their working settings, as suggested by recent guidelines for psychosocial risks management. A handbook is based on interactive chapters, including also numerous links to supportive health promotion websites in order to facilitate the preparation of adequate measures and related activities, commonly carried out by professionals in the field of health and safety at work. A special chapter is dedicated to instructions for working with an online e-OPSA tool, enabling an assessment of employeesā psychosocial burdens and risks of developing an excessive stress, absenteeism, presenteeism, turnover and experiencing of workplace violence.Prilagojena razliÄica e-OPSA je namenjena zaposlenim v izbranih dejavnostih javnega sektorja ((javna in državna uprava, lokalna samouprava, nekateri javni zavodi in agencije). PriroÄnik je poleg tega, da seznanja uporabnike s problematiko psihosocialnih obremenitev, ki jih doživljajo zaposleni tako v svojem delovnem okolju kot izven njega, tudi uporaben pripomoÄek pri oblikovanju razliÄnih preventivno promocijskih ukrepov, usmerjenih v izboljÅ”evanje zdravja zaposlenih in njihovega poÄutja v delovnem okolju. Contemporary Migration Trends and Flows on the Territory of Southeast Europe
This edited volume tackles different topics conĀcerning old/new conceptual, methodological and theoretical dilemmas in migraĀtion studies. Papers written by ethnologists and cultural anthropologists, sociologists, geographers, and others are brought together in order to gain a better understanding of the social, economic, political, cultural and other processes connected with migration in modern European societies. While some of the papers focus on migration processes, others dwell on post-migration phenomĀena and migrantsā livelihoods in their places of immigration. Nineteen authors participated in writing thirteen papers, divided in four interrelated sections.

Rojstva in samomori v Sloveniji skozi tri desetletja (1971ā2001)
In Slovenia, quite a few researchers have studied fertility and suicide, but rarely have the connections between both phenomena been made. The author aims to overcome simplified explanations of falling fertility and rising suicide rates by studying population dynamics as a socially relevant issue both at the Slovenian as well as the global level. She studies fertility and suicide by focusing on the historical development of population issues, recent theoretical population analyses and demographic statistics. Fertility and suicide are analysed from the viewpoint of approaches developed in the social sciences and humanities. In the second part of the monograph, these approaches are applied to fertility and suicide trends in Slovenia and press media reports on both issues.By providing an overview of the history of studying fertility and suicide in Slovenia and abroad, the author has concluded that most approaches to fertility and suicide are grounded on the premises of the modernisation theory. Nevertheless, she was not discouraged to study alternative approaches to fertility and suicide that, according to researchers in the humanities, do not necessarily have a lower explanatory potential.V slovenski javnosti obstaja kar nekaj del, ki obravnavajo rodnostno in samomorilno vedenje, vendar se prouÄevalci obeh oblik vedenja niso podrobneje ukvarjali s prouÄevanjem obeh pojavov skupaj. Avtorica poskuÅ”a preseÄi poenostavljene razlage padanja rodnosti in zviÅ”evanja samomorilnosti ter razÄlenjuje oblikovanje prebivalstvene dinamike kot družbeno pomembne teme na ravni Slovenije kot tudi na Å”irÅ”i, globalni ravni. Problematiko obravnava tako z vidika zgodovinskega razvoja prebivalstvenega vpraÅ”anja kot tudi z vidika sodobnejÅ”ih teoretskih razprav o prebivalstvu in demografskih statistikah. Rodnost in samomorilnost prouÄuje v luÄi družboslovnih in humanistiÄnih pristopov, ki jih v drugem delu aplicira na trende rodnosti in samomorilnosti v Sloveniji in poroÄanje tiska o obeh pojavih
