Dynamic Modeling and Validation of Radiant Ceiling Systems Coupled to its Environment
peer reviewedThis paper presents the results of a study performed in order to develop a dynamic model of radiant ceiling panels in heating or cooling modes coupled to its environment (fenestration, walls, internal loads and ventilation system). The model considers the radiant panels as a dynamic-state finned heat exchanger connected to a detailed lumped dynamic model of the building (R-C network). The behavior of the radiant ceiling system and the interactions with its environment has been experimentally and numerically evaluated. Using as inputs the radiant ceiling and room dimensions, material properties and the transient measurements of air temperature at the adjacent zones, supply air and water temperatures and mass flow rates, the model allows for the estimation of the water exhaust temperature, radiant ceiling average surface temperature, resultant and dry air room temperatures, radiant ceiling power and internal surface temperatures of the room in order to compare with measurements taken during the commissioning process. Two dynamic tests in heating and cooling modes are used to validate the model
Tiny Reinforcement Learning for Quadruped Locomotion using Decision Transformers
Resource-constrained robotic platforms are particularly useful for tasks that
require low-cost hardware alternatives due to the risk of losing the robot,
like in search-and-rescue applications, or the need for a large number of
devices, like in swarm robotics. For this reason, it is crucial to find
mechanisms for adapting reinforcement learning techniques to the constraints
imposed by lower computational power and smaller memory capacities of these
ultra low-cost robotic platforms. We try to address this need by proposing a
method for making imitation learning deployable onto resource-constrained
robotic platforms. Here we cast the imitation learning problem as a conditional
sequence modeling task and we train a decision transformer using expert
demonstrations augmented with a custom reward. Then, we compress the resulting
generative model using software optimization schemes, including quantization
and pruning. We test our method in simulation using Isaac Gym, a realistic
physics simulation environment designed for reinforcement learning. We
empirically demonstrate that our method achieves natural looking gaits for
Bittle, a resource-constrained quadruped robot. We also run multiple
simulations to show the effects of pruning and quantization on the performance
of the model. Our results show that quantization (down to 4 bits) and pruning
reduce model size by around 30\% while maintaining a competitive reward, making
the model deployable in a resource-constrained system.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figure
Responsabilidad Social Empresarial a las Responsabilidades en Derechos Humanos
The objective of this article is explain the asymmetric relation that is found in the Corporate Social Responsibility and the Human Rights, starting with the origin of the Social Responsibility and the existent business existence, based on different key events such as the Millennium Summit and the Global Compact of the United Nations (UN), as well as essential documents to express according to the theory, reflecting on business challenges to fulfill their responsibilities and not affect human rights. The center of this conclusion is exposing the relation of RSE and Human Rights, giving recommendations for future work in the same line of investigation.

Strain partition in synkinematic granitoids intruded in a transpressive setting (Sanabria, Central Iberian-Zone, Iberian Massif)
The Sanabria Lake plutons, located in the Central Iberian Zone of the Iberian Massif, intruded in a dextral
strike-slip fault bridge under transpressive conditions. The deformed zone underwent a strain partitioning
process, so that large folded domains and narrow shear zones were developed coevally. The microstructural
study of the granitoids shows that the shear zones concentrate a variable degree of solid state deformation
at high and medium temperatures, whereas the folded areas preserve microstructural evidences of magmatic
and submagmatic flow at high temperatures, too. The most common fabric in these folded areas is defined
by two sets of conjugate planes, composed by aligned crystals of plagioclase and biotite, which are bisected
by the flow foliation. These conjugate bands represent an incipient phase of the strain localization process
that involves strain weakening, migration of the late-magmatic melts and enhancement of the shear zone
Petrographical and mineralogical characteristics of birbirites from the Ronda peridotites (Betic Cordilleras)
/CO2
. La canalización de estos
fluidos por planos de discontinuidad ha conducido a la silicificación generalizada de peridotitas que ya estaban serpentinizadasIn this work we describe, by first time in the Betic Cordilleras, the occurrence and the main petrological and mineralogical features of birbirites,
as result of intense metasomatism of serpentinites. According to presented
data the birbirites had been formed by the infiltration of SiO2
/CO2 enriched
and low pH and low temperature (< 200 ºC) hydrothermal fluids channelized through discontinuities planes that lead to the pervasive silicification of
already serpentinized peridotite
