Compact Lie groups isolated up to conjugacy

The set $\mathcal S(G)$ of compact subgroups of a Hausdorff topological group $G$ can be equipped with the Vietoris topology. A compact subgroup $K\in\mathcal S(G)$ is isolated up to conjugacy if there is a neighborhood $\mathcal U\subseteq\mathcal S(G)$ of $K$ such that every $L\in\mathcal U$ is conjugate to $K$. In this paper, we characterize compact subgroups of a Lie group that are isolated up to conjugacy. Our characterization depends only on the intrinsic structure of $K$, the ambient Lie group $G$ and the embedding of $K$ into $G$ are irrelevant. In addition, we prove that any continuous homomorphism from a compact group $G$ onto a compact Lie group $H$ induces a continuous open map from $\mathcal S(G)$ onto $\mathcal S(H)$

Egy Aspergillus niger törzs fermentlevének lehetséges felhasználása a szőlő gombás betegségeinek megelőzésére

The present study was aimed to examine the use of culture filtrates of defensin-producing fungal strains against the most important fungal and pseudofungal infections of grapevine as an environmentally sound alternative of chemical control. Twenty-seven isolates of five defensin-producing fungal species were tested for antifungal activity. Four isolates (one Aspergillus giganteus and three Aspergillus niger) decreased the viability of the test organism successfully. The isolate with the highest antifungal efficacy (Aspergillus niger SZMC2759) was subjected to detailed investigation. The culture filtrate of the strain was effective against epicuticular mycelia and conidia of Botrytis cinerea, Guignardia bidwellii and Erysiphe necator, but not against subcuticular mycelia and Plasmopara viticola cells. The culture filtrate also prevented the development of powdery mildew symptoms on grapevine cuttings. Several modes of action were detected: inhibition of germination, membrane permeabilization, plasmolysis, fragmentation of nuclei. Certain parameters (pH, stress, aeration) of the fermentation were optimized for the highest antifungal activity. According to the results, culture filtrate of Aspergillus niger can be a promising agent in the management of fungal diseases of grapevine.Jelen tanulmány célja defenzint termelő gombafajok fermentleveinek a szőlő legfontosabb gombás betegségei ellen történő felhasználhatóságának vizsgálata, amely környezetbarát alternatívát nyújthat a vegyszeres növényvédelemmel szemben. Öt defenzint termelő gombafaj 27 izolátuma képezte a vizsgálatok tárgyát. Ezek közül négy (egy Aspergillus giganteus és három Aspergillus niger) izolátum volt képes hatékonyan csökkenteni a tesztorganizmus életképességét. A leghatékonyabb izolátumot (Aspergillus niger SZMC2759) részletes vizsgálatoknak vetettük alá. A törzs fermentleve fungicid hatást mutatott az epikutikuláris gombafonalakkal és spórákkal szemben a Botrytis cinerea, Giugnardia bidwellii és Erysiphe necator kórokozók esetén, de hatástalan volt a szubkutikuláris gombafonalak, valamint a Plasmopara viticola kórokozóval szemben. A vizsgált fermentlé képes volt tesztfertőzésekben a szőlő lisztharmat tüneteinek kialakulását is meggátolni mesterségesen fertőzött dugványokon. A fermentlé számos gombaellenes hatásmechanizmusát sikerült igazolni: spórák csírázásának gátlása, plazmamembrán permeabilizálása, plazmolízis indukálása és sejtmag feldarabolódása. A fermentáció egyes körülményei (pH, stressz, oxigénellátottság) optimalizálásra kerültek a legnagyobb hatékonyság elérése érdekében. A Fresh Look at Grape Powdery Mildew (Erysiphe necator) A and B Genotypes Revealed Frequent Mixed Infections and Only B Genotypes in Flag Shoot Samples

Erysiphe necator populations, causing powdery mildew of grapes, have a complex genetic structure. Two genotypes, A and B, were identified in most vineyards across the world on the basis of fixed single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in several DNA regions. It was hypothesized that A populations overwinter as mycelia in grapevine buds, giving rise to so-called flag shoots in spring, and are more sensitive to fungicides than B populations, which overwinter as ascospores and become widespread later in the season. Other studies concluded that the biological significance of these genotypes is unclear. In the spring of 2015, there was a unique opportunity to collect E. necator samples from flag shoots in Hungary. The same grapevines were sampled in summer and autumn as well. A total of 182 samples were genotyped on the basis of beta-tubulin (TUB2), nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrDNA) intergenic spacer (IGS), and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences. Genotypes of 56 samples collected in 2009-2011 were used for comparison. Genotype A was not detected at all in spring, and was present in only 19 samples in total, mixed with genotype B, and sometimes with another frequently found genotype, designated as B2. These results did not support the hypothesis about temporal isolation of the two genotypes and indicated that these are randomly distributed in vineyards

A téma kiválasztás motivációja, hogy a kisgyermeknevelői munka során egyre gyakrabban találkozunk olyan gyerekekkel, akiknek túl korán, vagy épp ellenkezőleg, túl későn indult meg a mozgásfejlődése. Munkánk során egyre több olyan gyermekkel találkozunk, akiknek koordinálatlan a mozgása.
