    Comparação electromiográfica do passe e do remate em Futsal

    Foi objectivo deste trabalho comparar a actividade neuromuscular do membro inferior na execução do remate e do passe com o dorso do pé no Futsal. Estudaram-se 5 sujeitos do sexo masculino e federados com idades compreendidas entre os 20 e os 26 anos. Foram analisadas duas condições de execução: o passe e o remate. O passe foi efectuado para um jogador colocado à sua frente e a seis metros de distância. O remate foi efectuado a uma distância de seis metros com oposição de um guarda-redes. Os dados electromiográficos foram recolhidos através de eléctrodos bipolares pré-amplificados colocados no Vasto interno, Vasto externo, Gastrocnémio medial e Tibial anterior com uma frequência de aquisição de 1 kHz. O sinal foi processado digitalmente, a fim de se obter o valor quadrático médio (RMS). A RMS foi normalizada individualmente com base no valor máximo dentro de uma determinada condição de exercitação. Um electrogoniómetro foi colocado entre a perna e a coxa para determinação dos parâmetros cinemáticos. A frequência de aquisição foi de 1 kHz e os dados estavam sincronizados com o sinal electromiográfico. Foram avaliados o ângulo relativo mínimo entre a perna e a coxa, assim como, o valor máximo da velocidade angular entre a perna e coxa. A velocidade foi significativamente superior e o ângulo significativamente inferior no remate do que no passe. A actividade neuromuscular foi significativamente superior no remate do que no passe em todos os grupos musculares estudados

    Levantamento preliminar de térmitas em bosques de mangues na Reserva Ecológica da Michelin, Igrapiúna, Bahia, Brasil

    Aiming at providing a background for the establishment of a Management and Conservation Plan for the Michelin Ecological Reserve, located in Camamu Bay, Bahia State, we analyzed the diversity and structure of termite communities occurring in mangrove vegetation in this area. Five 3 x 100 m unconnected transects were setup, each one subdivided in 10 sections measuring 3 x 10 m. Three morphospecies, belonging to two genera of termites, were found: Nasutitermes sp1 (64,71%), Nasutitermes sp2 (23,53%) e Termes sp (11,76%), present in 17 samples. Nasutitermes was the most abundant genus, as a result of the wide ecological valence demonstrated by this taxonomic group, which is able to build epigeic or tree nests, increasing the likelihood of mangrove colonization, an environment constantly flooded and soaked.Com o propósito de fornecer subsídios para a criação do plano de Manejo e Conservação da Reserva Ecológica da Michelin, localizada na Bahia de Camamú-Ba, analisamos a diversidade e a estrutura da comunidade de cupins que ocorrem em bosques de manguezais daquela localidade. Foram demarcados 5 transectos não conectados, com 3m x 100m, subdivididos em 10 seções de 3m x 10m. Foram encontradas 3 morfoespécies de 2 gêneros de cupins: Nasutitermes sp1 (64,71%), Nasutitermes sp2 (23,53%) e Termes sp. (11,76%) num total de 17 amostras coletadas. Nasutitermes foi o gênero mais abundante, resultado da ampla valência ecológica demonstrada por este grupo, capaz de construir ninhos epígeos ou arborícolas, ampliando a possibilidade de colonização em manguezal, cujo solo se mantém periodicamente inundado e encharcado

    Protein methyltransferase 7 deficiency in Leishmania major increases neutrophil associated pathology in murine model

    Leishmania major is the main causative agent of cutaneous leishmaniasis in the Old World. In Leishmania parasites, the lack of transcriptional control is mostly compensated by post-transcriptional mechanisms. Methylation of arginine is a conserved post-translational modification executed by Protein Arginine Methyltransferase (PRMTs). The genome from L. major encodes five PRMT homologs, including the cytosolic protein associated with several RNA-binding proteins, LmjPRMT7. It has been previously reported that LmjPRMT7 could impact parasite infectivity. In addition, a more recent work has clearly shown the importance of LmjPRMT7 in RNA-binding capacity and protein stability of methylation targets, demonstrating the role of this enzyme as an important epigenetic regulator of mRNA metabolism. In this study, we unveil the impact of PRMT7-mediated methylation on parasite development and virulence. Our data reveals that higher levels of LmjPRMT7 can impair parasite pathogenicity, and that deletion of this enzyme rescues the pathogenic phenotype of an attenuated strain of L. major. Interestingly, lesion formation caused by LmjPRMT7 knockout parasites is associated with an exacerbated inflammatory reaction in the tissue correlated with an excessive neutrophil recruitment. Moreover, the absence of LmjPRMT7 also impairs parasite development within the sand fly vector Phlebotomus duboscqi. Finally, a transcriptome analysis shed light onto possible genes affected by depletion of this enzyme. Taken together, this study highlights how post-transcriptional regulation can affect different aspects of the parasite biology

    The Universal Morphology (UniMorph) project is a collaborative effort providing broad-coverage instantiated normalized morphological inflection tables for hundreds of diverse world languages. The project comprises two major thrusts: a language-independent feature schema for rich morphological annotation and a type-level resource of annotated data in diverse languages realizing that schema. This paper presents the expansions and improvements made on several fronts over the last couple of years (since McCarthy et al. (2020)). Collaborative efforts by numerous linguists have added 67 new languages, including 30 endangered languages. We have implemented several improvements to the extraction pipeline to tackle some issues, e.g. missing gender and macron information. We have also amended the schema to use a hierarchical structure that is needed for morphological phenomena like multiple-argument agreement and case stacking, while adding some missing morphological features to make the schema more inclusive. In light of the last UniMorph release, we also augmented the database with morpheme segmentation for 16 languages. Lastly, this new release makes a push towards inclusion of derivational morphology in UniMorph by enriching the data and annotation schema with instances representing derivational processes from MorphyNet
