Cape gooseberry, Physalis peruviana L. is a tropical fruit tree native to the Andean region, presenting primary and secondary metabolites that confer antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties. It is currently the second export fruit in Colombia, with Boyacá being one of the departments that contributes most to national production. Therefore, the objective of this research was to characterize the genetic diversity of Cape gooseberry in the Department of Boyacá. A collection of 15 wild materials from P. Peruviana was carried out in the municipalities of Paipa, Combita, Tuta, Sotaquirá, Santa Rosa de Viterbo and Tunja and were characterized with seven RAMs microsatellite markers. The analysis by the Nei-Li coefficient at a similarity level of 0,65 differentiated the population in three groups according to the site of origin of the materials. The average Heterocigosidad value was 0,27, which is considered low compared to other genetic diversity studies. The analysis of Molecular variance (AMOVA) and the Fst show the existence of genetic variability at the intraspecific level which should be retained and used in the genetic improvement that allows the obtaining of adapted materials, with characteristics agronomic, nutritional and medicinal of high quality.

In this work, a neural structure has been implemented into a device based on the new trends in hardware integration, for motor-control In multisensorial anthropomorphic robotic systems. This implementation gives a solution to the problem of physic integration of biologically Inspired control hierarchies in a robotic head-arm installation for robotic reaching tasks. The complete architecture has been implemented on an electronic board connected to a PC computer through a PCI interface. The hardware structure consists of two blocks: one for the working phase of the system, and the other for the learning and supervision phase of the system. These two blocks have been implemented with different technologies based on DSP processors and FPGAs. The algorithms implemented on DSPs have the function of updating the neural network on the FPGA, supervising the working of the algorithm implemented on FPGA and introducing corrections when the neural network produces results with little errors. The neural network has been implemented on FPGA and implements spatial-motor transformations of the robotic platform. It is programmed and updated by the supervisor implemented on a DSP processo

Foetal Immune Response Activation and High Replication Rate during Generation of Classical Swine Fever Congenital Infection

Classical swine fever virus (CSFV) induces trans-placental transmission and congenital viral persistence; however, the available information is not updated. Three groups of sows were infected at mid-gestation with either a high, moderate or low virulence CSFV strains. Foetuses from sows infected with high or low virulence strain were obtained before delivery and piglets from sows infected with the moderate virulence strain were studied for 32 days after birth. The low virulence strain generated lower CSFV RNA load and the lowest proportion of trans-placental transmission. Severe lesions and mummifications were observed in foetuses infected with the high virulence strain. Sows infected with the moderately virulence strain showed stillbirths and mummifications, one of them delivered live piglets, all CSFV persistently infected. Efficient trans-placental transmission was detected in sows infected with the high and moderate virulence strain. The trans-placental transmission occurred before the onset of antibody response, which started at 14 days after infection in these sows and was influenced by replication efficacy of the infecting strain. Fast and solid immunity after sow vaccination is required for prevention of congenital viral persistence. An increase in the CD8+ T-cell subset and IFN-alpha response was found in viremic foetuses, or in those that showed higher viral replication in tissue, showing the CSFV recognition capacity by the foetal immune system after trans-placental infection.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Acute myelocytic leukemia in pregnancy case report and literature review: a case report

Leukemia is a rare entity in pregnant women, when it occurs it is usually of myeloid origin and acute course, its diagnosis and management remains a challenge because of the limited availability of information resources due to the low frequency of this pathology, the management decision will be carried out by a multidisciplinary team that includes obstetricians, hematologists, psychologists, involving ethical issues always seeking to improve the maternal and fetal prognosis and never forgetting the wishes of the patient and her family. We present the case of a woman in the fourth decade of life, with pregnancy in the third trimester in which acute myeloid leukemia was diagnosed and where it was decided by a consensus of specialists in hematology, gynecology and pediatrics, to prolong the pregnancy until 32 weeks and then start chemotherapy

Abrogation of the RNase activity of Erns in a low virulence classical swine fever virus enhances the humoral immune response and reduces virulence, transmissibility, and persistence in pigs

The prevalence of low virulence classical swine fever virus (CSFV) strains makes viral eradication difficult in endemic countries. However, the determinants for natural CSFV attenuation and persistence in the field remain unidentified. The aim of the present study was to assess the role of the RNase activity of CSFV Erns in pathogenesis, immune response, persistent infection, and viral transmission in pigs. To this end, a functional cDNA clone pPdR-H30K-36U with an Erns lacking RNase activity was constructed based on the low virulence CSFV field isolate Pinar de Rio (PdR). Eighteen 5-day-old piglets were infected with vPdR-H30K-36U. Nine piglets were introduced as contacts. The vPdR-H30K-36U virus was attenuated in piglets compared to the parental vPdR-36U. Only RNA traces were detected in sera and body secretions and no virus was isolated from tonsils, showing that RNase inactivation may reduce CSFV persistence and transmissibility. The vPdR-H30K-36U mutant strongly activated the interferon-α (IFN-α) production in plasmacytoid dendritic cells, while in vivo, the IFN-α response was variable, from moderate to undetectable depending on the animal. This suggests a role of the CSFV Erns RNase activity in the regulation of innate immune responses. Infection with vPdR-H30K-36U resulted in higher antibody levels against the E2 and Erns glycoproteins and in enhanced neutralizing antibody responses when compared with vPdR-36U. These results pave the way toward a better understanding of viral attenuation mechanisms of CSFV in pigs. In addition, they provide novel insights relevant for the development of DIVA vaccines in combination with diagnostic assays for efficient CSF control.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
