Dynamic determination of RCS video share capability

    Get PDF
Mobile video calling requires determination of whether the available network is capable of supporting video calls. In Rich Communication Suite (RCS), such determination is static and is made at the time of call initiation. Such an approach limits usefulness of video share call functionality, e.g., when network conditions change during a call. This disclosure describes techniques to determine at regular intervals whether an available network at a user location or cell site supports video calling. A network performance database is queried periodically to determine whether the network at a user’s location supports video calling. If video calling is supported, the video share feature is made available, prior to or during a call. When users provide consent, an update of the video share call feature status for a particular user is provided to the user’s contacts. The status of video share feature is dynamically changed based on changes in the available network conditions. The encoding rate for a codec used for the video call is determined based on the network conditions. The techniques can also be used to dynamically determine whether other enhanced calling features that are dependent on network quality are supported by the available network at a user location

Smartphone Personal Assistant For Radio Network Selection During Roaming

    Get PDF
A smartphone personal assistant system for selecting a radio network during roaming is disclosed. The system makes use of the on-device assistant to understand where the device is located after a “Radio On” or landing from a flight. This information is used in conjunction with a database of frequencies and locations to instruct the radio to scan the correct frequencies. Thus, the system allows the user to operate the mobile device outside the home area network

De plus, ce mĂ©moire prĂ©sente les rĂ©sultats associĂ©s Ă  l’utilisation de cette nouvelle technologie pour l’imagerie cardiaque de petits animaux.----------ABSTRACT Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the world as well as the second leading cause of death in the country. Specifically, coronary artery disease is represented by an arterial blockage at the coronary level, which can lead to myocardial ischemia. Current methods of diagnosing coronary artery disease focus on observing the narrowing of vessels in the coronary network to assess the condition of the organ, which is normally done by an ionizing or invasive procedure. In addition, physiological damage or the functional impairment of the coronary microvasculature is now recognized as a precursor to myocardial ischemia. Several mechanisms may be involved, but a high prevalence has been demonstrated in patients with coronary artery disease. In short, we would greatly benefit from a non-ionizing and non-invasive imaging modality capable of mapping and measuring the flow of intramyocardial arterioles and capillaries, because they are the direct vehicle of the myocardium’s blood income. With the advent of ultrafast ultrasound scanners, imaging modalities based on the localization and tracking of injected microbubbles allow for the subwavelength resolution imaging of an organ’s vasculature. However, the application of these vascular imaging modalities relies on a consistent accumulation of microbubble positions within a region of interest with minimal tissue movement. This work introduces the development of Dynamic Myocardial Ultrasound Localization Angiography (MULA), an imaging modality intended to improve the diagnosis and treatment monitoring of coronary pathologies. This project was aimed at the dynamic mapping of myocardial blood vessels by localizing microbubbles within an organ undergoing complex movements of large amplitudes. In addition, this work presents the results associated with the performance of this new technology in the cardiac imaging of small animals

Device-Related Thrombus After Left Atrial Appendage Closure

    Get PDF
Although left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) has proved non-inferior to oral anticoagulants in patients with AF, there has been recent concern about the occurrence of late complications, especially device-related thrombus (DRT), which was associated with increased risk of stroke. In this article, the incidence, risk factors and time course of DRT after LAAC are discussed, as well as the potential benefits of dedicated strategies in the management of DRT, which remain speculative, especially in patients with a contraindication to oral anticoagulants. In these patients, decision-making should be based on a multidisciplinary evaluation of the ischaemic/bleeding balance on an individual basis

This thesis analyzes the presence of income inequalities between individuals and nations around the world, from both the theoretical and the analytical point of view. The treatment of this question, as of several other questions in economics, is not consensual, which derives from the theoretical differences between the Orthodox and Heterodox authors. The first three sections emphasize the main theories that base the thoughts of the orthodox currents, the neoclassical, new-keynesian and new-classical theories, as well as heterodox currents, Marxist and Keynesian. Sections four and five focus on the historical trends that determine economic inequalities, such as income and capital concentrations. The conclusion brings an analysis of the economic policies that have had an effect in reducing the concentration of income in the hands of a few, in addition to the recent Brazilian success in reducing poverty and extreme poverty

Pain catastrophizing and worry about health in generalized anxiety disorder

    Get PDF
Because the diagnostic criteria of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) are not tied to specific worry domains (worry is ‘generalized’), research on the content of worry in GAD is lacking. To our knowledge, no study has addressed vulnerability for specific worry topics in GAD. The goal of the current study, a secondary analysis of data from a clinical trial, is to explore the relationship between pain catastrophizing and worry about health in a sample of 60 adults with primary GAD. All data for this study were collected at pretest, prior to randomization to experimental condition in the larger trial. The hypotheses were that (1) pain catastrophizing would be positively related to the severity of GAD, (2) the relationship between pain catastrophizing and the severity of GAD would not be explained by intolerance of uncertainty and psychological rigidity, and (3) pain catastrophizing would be greater in participants reporting worry about health compared to those not reporting worry about health. All hypotheses were confirmed, suggesting that pain catastrophizing may be a threat-specific vulnerability for health-related worry in GAD. The implications of the current findings include a better understanding of the ideographic content of worry, which could help focus treatment interventions for individuals with GAD
