A business service selection model for automated web service discovery requirements

    Get PDF
Automated web service (WS) discovery, i.e. discovery without human intervention, is a goal of service-oriented computing. So far it is an elusive goal. The weaknesses of UDDI and other partial solutions have been extensively discussed, but little has been articulated concerning the totality of requirements for automated web service discovery. Our work has led to the conclusion that solving automated web service discovery will not be found through solely technical thinking. We argue that the business motivation for web services must be given prominence and so have looked to processes in business for the identification, assessment and selection of business services in order to assess comprehensively the requirements for web service discovery and selection. The paper uses a generic business service selection model as a guide to analyze a comprehensive set of requirements for facilities to support automated web service discovery. The paper presents an overview of recent work on aspects of WS discovery, proposes a business service selection model, considers a range of technical issues against the business model, articulates a full set of requirements, and concludes with comments on a system to support them

Participative social work and urban change: two case studies in Lisbon and Bucharest

Focusing on two initiatives working within disadvantaged urban neighborhoods in Bucharest and Lisbon, we want to discuss the civil society’s capacity to adapt to the changing social opportunities and difficul-ties, and its ability to create equal access to resources and opportunities. We propose to compare some aspects of both initiatives in these two historical and socio-political Southern European urban contexts, trying to better understand these processes: what they manage to do; what they find hard to do; who helps them; their relationships with different state structures (municipality, schools, national agencies etc.); their relationships with different people in the area of work; their future perspective, and so on. Our diverse social activist and academic background in anthropological, sociological, geographical fields allows us to a deeper understanding of the strengths and limits of theoretical and practical dimensions of social research process, witch we would like to discuss, also

Vortex and gap generation in gauge models of graphene

Effective quantum field theoretical continuum models for graphene are investigated. The models include a complex scalar field and a vector gauge field. Different gauge theories are considered and their gap patterns for the scalar, vector, and fermion excitations are investigated. Different gauge groups lead to different relations between the gaps, which can be used to experimentally distinguish the gauge theories. In this class of models the fermionic gap is a dynamic quantity. The finite-energy vortex solutions of the gauge models have the flux of the "magnetic field" quantized, making the Bohm-Aharonov effect active even when external electromagnetic fields are absent. The flux comes proportional to the scalar field angular momentum quantum number. The zero modes of the Dirac equation show that the gauge models considered here are compatible with fractionalization

    Beyond Polycystic Kidney Disease

Tuberous sclerosis(TS) is an autosomal dominant disease caused by mutations in TSC1 and TSC2 genes. TSC2 gene is located in chromosome 16p13.3, adjacent to PKD1 gene, responsible for the autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease. In a rare subgroup of patients, the presence of a deletion which simultaneously affects the TSC2 and PKD1 genes has been confirmed. TSC2/PKD1-Contiguous Gene Syndrome is characterised by the early appearance of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease in combination with several phenotypic manifestations of TS. We present a 13-year-old girl with bilateral renal cysts detected at the age of 9 months. At the age of 13, she was referred to the Dermatology Outpatients Clinic due to a facial cutaneous eruption. She presented with facial erythema, fibroadenomas with malar distribution and disseminated hypomelanotic macules, meeting the criteria for TS. TSC2/PKD1 Contiguous Gene Syndrome deletion was suspected, being later confirmed by genetic testing.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Relação entre o equilíbrio e o medo de cair em idosos

    Get PDF

Intestinal Amyloidosis in common variable immunodeficiency and Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Get PDF
We present a case of reactive amyloidosis that developed secondary to common variable immunodeficiency and rheumatoid arthritis. A 66-year-old woman, with prior history of common variable immunodeficiency and rheumatoid arthritis, was referred to our clinic for chronic diarrhea investigation. The patient was submitted to colonoscopy with ileoscopy, which did not show relevant endoscopic alterations. However, undertaken biopsies revealed amyloid deposition. Since amyloidosis with GI involvement is a rare cause of chronic diarrhea, this pathology should be considered in etiologic investigation, especially when associated with chronic inflammatory diseases.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
