Three-Dimensional Simulations of a Starburst-Driven Galactic Wind
We have performed a series of three-dimensional simulations of a
starburst-driven wind in an inhomogeneous interstellar medium. The introduction
of an inhomogeneous disk leads to differences in the formation of a wind, most
noticeably the absence of the ``blow-out'' effect seen in homogeneous models. A
wind forms from a series of small bubbles that propagate into the tenuous gas
between dense clouds in the disk. These bubbles merge and follow the path of
least resistance out of the disk, before flowing freely into the halo.
Filaments are formed from disk gas that is broken up and accelerated into the
outflow. These filaments are distributed throughout a biconical structure
within a more spherically distributed hot wind. The distribution of the
inhomogeneous interstellar medium in the disk is important in determining the
morphology of this wind, as well as the distribution of the filaments. While
higher resolution simulations are required in order to ascertain the importance
of mixing processes, we find that soft X-ray emission arises from gas that has
been mass-loaded from clouds in the disk, as well as from bow shocks upstream
of clouds, driven into the flow by the ram pressure of the wind, and the

Kinks in the Hartree approximation
The topological defects of the lambda phi^4 theory, kink and antikink, are
studied in the Hartree approximation. This allows us to discuss quantum effects
on the defects in both stationary and dynamical systems. The kink mass is
calculated for a number of parameters, and compared to classical, one loop and
Monte Carlo results known from the literature. We discuss the thermalization of
the system after a kink antikink collision. A classical result, the existence
of a critical speed, is rederived and shown for the first time in the quantum
theory. We also use kink antikink collisions as a very simple toy model for
heavy ion collisions and discuss the differences and similarities, for example
in the pressure. Finally, using the Hartree Ensemble Approximation allows us to
study kink antikink nucleation starting from a thermal (Bose Einstein)
distribution. In general our results indicate that on a qualitative level there
are few differences with the classical results, but on a quantitative level

Hydrodynamical Description of 200 A GeV/c S+Au Collisions: Hadron and Electromagnetic Spectra
We study relativistic S+Au collisions at 200 A GeV/c using a hydrodynamical
approach. We test various equations of state (EOSs), which are used to describe
the strongly interacting matter at densities attainable in the CERN-SPS heavy
ion experiments. For each EOS, suitable initial conditions can be determined to
reproduce the experimental hadron spectra; this emphasizes the ambiguity
between the initial conditions and the EOS in such an approach. Simultaneously,
we calculate the resulting thermal photon and dielectron spectra, and compare
with experiments. If one allows the excitation of resonance states with
increasing temperature, the electro-magnetic signals from scenarios with and
without phase transition are very similar and are not resolvable within the
current experimental resolution. With regard to the CERES dilepton data, none
of the EOSs considered, in conjunction with the standard leading order dilepton
rates, succeed in reproducing the observed excess of dileptons below the rho
peak. Our work, however, suggests that an improved measurement of the photon
and dilepton spectra has the potential to strongly constrain the EOS.Comment: Uses REVTeX, 48 pages, 13 Postscript figure
Identifying value chain trade-offs from fruit and vegetable aggregation services in Bangladesh using a system dynamics approach
Significant progress has been made in cereal production in Bangladesh due to an agricultural policy environment that prioritizes the productivity of staple crops over fruit and vegetables (F&V). However, many smallholder farmers remain poorly connected to markets, which may lead to a limited supply response of F&V that can reduce opportunities for sufficient intake in neglected, consumer-facing, smaller retail markets. To address this issue, aggregation schemes have been conceived that collect and transport F&Vs on behalf of multiple farmers. Given the volume of horticultural produce produced and the reliance on developed transport infrastructure, aggregation schemes tend to supply wholesale and urban markets rather than underdeveloped rural and isolated markets. To this end, we investigated how a particular aggregation intervention (‘Loop’) could potentially improve the distribution of F&V to smaller markets whilst improving farmer benefits. We used an innovative system dynamics modeling approach based on Loop`s aggregation services in Jashore, Bangladesh, and to identify the potential trade-offs between consumer outcomes in retail markets and farmer benefits. We find that combining aggregation with a quota at the smaller market, transport subsidy, and current price growth does not result in trade-offs between consumer purchases and farmers`benefits. However, combining aggregation with current price growth can increase demand without losing farmers`benefits. The findings emphasize that standalone and multiple market-oriented interventions generate broader win-win benefits to promote inclusive food systems
Hydrodynamical analysis of symmetric nucleus-nucleus collisions at CERN/SPS energies
We present a coherent theoretical study of ultrarelativistic heavy-ion data
obtained at the CERN/SPS by the NA35/NA49 Collaborations using 3+1-dimensional
relativistic hydrodynamics. We find excellent agreement with the rapidity
spectra of negative hadrons and protons and with the correlation measurements
in two experiments: at 200 and at 160 (preliminary
results). Within our model this implies that for () a
quark-gluon-plasma of initial volume 174 (24 ) with a lifetime 3.4
(1.5 ) was formed. It is found that the Bose-Einstein correlation
measurements do not determine the maximal effective radii of the hadron sources
because of the large contributions from resonance decay at small momenta. Also
within this study we present an NA49 acceptance corrected two-pion

Effects of a single aerobic exercise session on body image
Background and Objectives
Most research on the effects of exercise on body image has concentrated on the benefits of regular exercise. However, some research has indicated that exercise has an immediate impact on body image. The aims of this study were to investigate the immediate effects of aerobic exercise in a fitness class and the at-home environment on body image, and to examine the impact of nutritional status (i.e., normal weight vs. overweight/obesity) and exercise addiction on these changes.
Method
322 Hungarian women participated in the study with two different environmental conditions, fitness class condition (N = 155) and at-home video condition (N = 167). They completed the Body Appreciation Scale and Exercise Addiction Inventory before and after a one-hour aerobic exercise session. Self-report data on weight, height and exercise frequency were also collected.
Results
There were no significant differences between the fitness class and video groups in terms of age, educational level, BMI, body appreciation, exercise frequency and exercise addiction. We found that 7.5% (N = 24) of the participants were at risk for exercise addiction. Aerobic exercise had a significant positive effect on body appreciation (t(321) = 7.564, p < .001) independently from environment and nutritional status. Exercise addiction moderated the relationship between exercise and body image, the at risk for exercise addiction group showed the greatest improvement (F(1) = 3.252, p = .040).
Conclusion
The results indicate that even a one-hour aerobic exercise session has a positive effect on body image; this has important practical implications for intervention strategies and weight-loss treatments.

Elméleti háttér és célkitűzés
Bár a legtöbb kutatás a rendszeres testedzés testképre gyakorolt pozitív hatására fókuszál, néhány vizsgálat eredménye a testedzés testképre tett azonnali hatására hívja fel a figyelmet. Jelen tanulmány célja az aerobik edzés testképre gyakorolt azonnali hatásának vizsgálata fitnesztermi és otthoni edzési körülmények között, továbbá a tápláltsági állapot (normális testsúly vs. túlsúly/elhízás) és a testedzésfüggőség potenciális moderátor szerepének vizsgálata az edzés és a testkép alakulása közötti kapcsolatban.
Módszer
A vizsgálatba aerobikedzést folytató nőket vontunk be (n = 322). A résztvevők egyik része edzőteremben folytatta a testgyakorlást (n = 155), másik része otthon végzett aerobik testedzést, video vagy DVD segítségével (n = 167).
Mérőeszközök
önbeszámolóval nyert testtömeg és testmagasság, a testedzés gyakoriságára vonatkozó kérdés, Testértékelési Skála, Testedzés Addikció Kérdőív. Az adatfelvétel az egyórás testgyakorlást megelőzően és azt követően történt.
Eredmények
Nem találtunk szignifikáns különbséget az edzőteremben és az otthonukban aerobik edzést folytató nők között az életkor, az iskolai végzettség, a BMI, a testértékelés, a testedzés gyakorisága és a testedzésfüggőség tekintetében. A válaszadók 7,5%-a (n = 24) esetében jelenik meg a testedzésfüggőség kockázata. Az egyórás testedzés szignifikáns, kedvező hatást gyakorolt a testképre (t(321) = 7,564; p < 0,001), amely hatás a testgyakorlás helyszínétől (edzőterem vs. otthon) és a tápláltsági állapottól függetlennek bizonyult. The Effects of Disorder on the Quantum Hall State
A disorder-averaged Hartree-Fock treatment is used to compute the density of
single particle states for quantum Hall systems at filling factor . It
is found that transport and spin polarization experiments can be simultaneously
explained by a model of mostly short-range effective disorder. The slope of the
transport gap (due to quasiparticles) in parallel field emerges as a result of
the interplay between disorder-induced broadening and exchange, and has
