    La fiebre Q es una zoonosis ampliamente distribuida, capaz de provocar innumerables p茅rdidas econ贸micas en rumiantes dom茅sticos (ovinos, caprinos y bovinos). En humanos se presenta con gran versatilidad de manifestaciones cl铆nicas; m谩s de la mitad de los casos suelen ser asintom谩ticos, la infecci贸n aguda generalmente se presenta como una enfermedad febril no espec铆fica, con gran potencial para desarrollar neumon铆a, hepatitis y endocarditis cr贸nica. En la mayor铆a de pa铆ses latinoamericanos la fiebre Q es una enfermedad olvidada, principalmente por el desconocimiento y falta de asociaci贸n epidemiol贸gica por parte de profesionales de la salud, sumado a la carencia de herramientas de diagn贸stico preciso y asequible, que como consecuencia, influencian en el subreporte y subdiagn贸stico de la enfermedad. El objetivo de esta revisi贸n fue describir los aspectos cl铆nicos, eco-epidemiol贸gicos, diagn贸stico y tratamiento de la fiebre Q. Se utiliz贸 una b煤squeda sistem谩tica de art铆culos, los cuales fueron revisados y evaluados cr铆ticamente de acuerdo a su calidad, basado en el rigor cient铆fico, credibilidad, relevancia y aplicabilidad de los resultados sobre los temas abordados a fin de proveer una actualizaci贸n y profundizaci贸n en el conocimiento de la enfermedad

    Las Rickettsias son un g茅nero de bacterias Gram negativas intracelulares obligadas causantes de muchas epidemias en el mundo y son transmitidas principalmente por garrapatas, pulgas, piojos y 谩caros. Las rickettsiosis son enfermedades infecciosas reemergentes sin vigilancia epidemiol贸gica en Colombia. Hasta hace pocos a帽os Rickettsia rickettsi era la 煤nica Rickettsia transmitida por garrapatas presente en Am茅rica; sin embargo, nuevas especies est谩n siendo descritas, y aunque su patogenicidad no ha sido confirmada pueden ser consideradas pat贸genos potenciales.     Introduction: Rickettsia is a genus of Gram-negative obligate intracellular bacteria that cause several epidemics around the world and are transmitted mainly by ticks, fleas, lice and mites. Rickettsiosis is a re-emergent infectious disease without epidemiological surveillance in Colombia.     Molecular detection of leptosipira in synanthropic and wild rodents from Villavicencio municipality, Colombia

    Introduction: Rodents are potential transmitters of Leptospira spp. In the municipality of Villavicencio, Colombia, leptospirosis is a disease that, although notifiable, is still underreported. In this region, rodent species that can host pathogenic leptospira remain unknown. Objective: To detect the presence of Leptospira spp. through molecular analysis in rodents (Rodentia) from peri-urban and rural areas belonging to the municipality of Villavicencio in Colombia. Methods: Peri-urban and rural areas of the townships belonging to Villavicencio municipality were selected for sampling. These areas presented similar ecological conditions: they were near water bodies and peridomiciliary areas, and some of them included fields of agricultural crops. Rodents麓 kidneys were removed and frozen in liquid nitrogen. DNA was extracted using a commercial kit and subsequently amplified through conventional polymerase chain reaction. Results: The rodent species collected were: Rattus rattus, Mus musculus, Zygodontomys brevicauda, Oligoryzomys sp, Hylaeamys (formerly Oryzomys) and Proechimys cf. oconnelli. Leptospira DNA was amplified in six rodents and the purified amplicons were sent to Macrogen Inc. (Seoul, Korea) for sequencing. The alignment analysis of the sequenced products demonstrated 98.64% of coverage and identity with Leptospira interrogans. Conclusions: This is the first study carried out on wild and synanthropic rodents in the municipality of Villavicencio.     B煤squeda de Hantavirus y Arenavirus en roedores de Villavicencio, Colombia

    Objective. To search Hantavirus and Arenavirus in small rodents and establish their spatial distribution in disturbed ecosystems in the municipality of Villavicencio, Meta, Colombia. Materials and method. A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out from October 2018 to October 2019 in periurban and rural areas of the municipality of Villavicencio. Rodents were captured using Sherman-type traps and molecular detection of Hantavirus and Arenavirus was carried out by Polymerase chain Reaction technique. Results. A total of 50 rodents were captured belonged to 3 families and six species, the聽Muridae (76%) with the highest number of captured individuals, Cricetidae (22%) and Echimydae (2%). All samples were negative for the molecular markers of Hantavirus and Arenavirus. Conclusions. The study of mammalian hosts, particularly small rodents contribute to monitor diseases transmitted by these small mammals that act as reservoirs.Objetivo. Realizar una b煤squeda de Hantavirus y Arenavirus en peque帽os roedores y establecer su distribuci贸n espacial en diferentes ecosistemas del municipio de Villavicencio, departamento del Meta, Colombia. Materiales y m茅todo. Se realiz贸 un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal, entre octubre de 2018 octubre de 2019 en zonas periurbanas y rurales del municipio de Villavicencio. Se capturaron roedores empleando trampas tipo Sherman. La detecci贸n molecular de Hantavirus se llev贸 a cabo usando cebadores forward SAHN-S y reverse SAHN-C y para Arenavirus cebadores forward GP878+ y reverse GP1126. 聽Resultados. Un total de 50 roedores fueron capturados, el 茅xito de captura fue del 1.7%. Los roedores capturados pertenec铆an a 3 familias y 6 especies, las familias m谩s frecuentes fueron Muridae (76%) Cricetidae (22%) y Echimydae (2%). Todas las muestras resultaron negativas para Hantavirus y Arenavirus. Conclusi贸n. El estudio de peque帽os roedores contribuye con la vigilancia de enfermedades transmitidas por estos mam铆feros que act煤an como reservorios
