Taking into account the economic and social importance of research-development activities as far as the technologies and the political measures are concerned, in the context of food security and of population’s food and nourishment, the necessity for developing a strategy and research-development activities in the field is obvious . The research-development activities in the milling and baking industry focus on processing the agricultural resources (wheat, rye, corn etc.) with a view to making bakery products. The research-development activities in this field cover the totality of the processes in terms of technological-biotechnological-technical-economic aspects, ensuring the basic and industrial processing of the bakery products, the integrated specific biotechnologies and all the services which integrate the supply-demand relations on the bakery products market in the context of the population’s food-related behavior.strategy, technological research, baking industry, public policies

The following paper is theoretically framed within the conceptual context of heritage bilingualism acquisition and its cross-linguistic effect on L3. Based on it, a case study was designed with the aim of analyzing the incidence of bilingualism on third language learning. The study was carried out with 6 Romanian-Italian bilinguals studying English L3. In this case, English was considered their third language or foreign language. In this way, a sociolinguistic questionnaire was created in order to understand the participants' perspectives on the three languages and to obtain data on their linguistic profile. The next step was the design of three language tasks: written production, translation and error identification. Their purpose was to examine the types of mistakes that usually occur when writing in English, and if the cross-linguistic transfer is produced more probably from one of their L1 (Romanian as the heritage language and Italian as the main one). For this reason, a qualitative approach was adopted to collect data on English L3 learning in bilingual speakers. Documentary evidence has been assembled from the speakers in order to contrast their performance in different types of languages tasks with the existing theoretical framework. The hypothesis of this study predicted that Italian would be the main source of cross-linguistic interferences in English L3, and the results of the case study will be used in order to corroborate it. However, due to the small number of participants we cannot state with certainty that the results obtained are always the same, as if the case study were applied to an entire society

A Problem-Based Learning Implementation to a Psychology Course in Higher Education

[EN] The present work describes a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) activity implemented in an undergraduate course of Psychology of Groups. Additionally, considering the findings on the effects of PBL on cognitive and motivational components, we also explored the effect of the PBL activity on students’ information processing strategies and intrinsic motivation using a pre-post design. Only 28 students (25% men) completed the measures at both point times (pre and post-activity). Although no significant pre-post differences was found for any of the measured variables, the observed trend of change revealed mixed results. While for some cognitive strategies (e.g., critical thinking, information management, information transference) a trend towards improvement could be observed between the pre-post phases, for strategies of information elaboration and information acquisition the trend was reversed. Despite the non significant results, the present work contributes to the field of research on PBL in higher education by describing and testing the effects of a PBL activity implemented in a social discipline, a field in which PBL implementation is rather scarce.Cuadrado, I.; Constantin, A. Understanding job performance through persistence and job competency

    Get PDF
AbstractTwo related researches are presented in this paper: the first study tested a predicting model of the job performance based on competency matching indices analysis, on a sample of 200 Romanian employees, while the second one analyzed the influence of three persistence factors on the job performance. Surprisingly, results showed that job competency matching index proved a low predictive power for the job performance, while two persistence factors seemed to be high predictive. These results might question the general assessment practice beliefs in the human resources field

The illegal dumping of waste in forest areas - evidence from rural territory

    Get PDF
Household waste generated is often uncolleted in rural areas causing various types of pollution like: air and water pollution, soil pollution and the aesthetic degradation of the landscape. The environmental legislation proposed by the European Union was transposed on the national legislation but the implementation process was difficult because of particular situations encountered in practice. Rudimentary infrastructure of waste management and limited access to waste collection services lead to uncontrolled household waste disposal. In this context, the geographical location of rural settlements influences the way of waste disposal either on river banks or open dumps placed on roadsides or forest areas with various environmental implications. Those, forest areas in the proximity of human settlements or recreation areas become vulnerable to waste pollution. Even if local authorities are obliged to provide waste collection facilities since July 16, 2009 the illegal dumping of waste in forests is still present. This situation is reflected by field observations from Suceava and Neamț counties. Usually forest areas affected by uncontrolled waste disposal are located in hilly regions or subcarpathian areas. The degradation of these areas is visible and this can have a negative influence not only on the environment but also on tourism activities

Attitudes towards gender roles. Institutions, culture or/and individual factors shaping the attitudes towards gender roles?

    Get PDF
The focus of this thesis falls on the subjective dimension of gender equality, as translated into attitudes towards gender roles in the private and public spheres of life. Studying and understanding attitudes towards gender roles is relevant due to their broader implications for democratization, political participation, leadership, fertility, educational achievements, gender roles and division of labour. Based on the assumption that attitudes towards gender roles can impact important social phenomena, this dissertation aims to investigate the institutional, cultural and individual factors that lead to attitudinal gender equality. In other words, it considers what shapes these attitudes as well as how and why they change. These general questions are formulated in a cross-national or longitudinal context. Findings show important relationships between individual and macro level factors on the one hand and attitudes towards gender roles on the other hand, and detail the nature of these connections
