DP-starJ: A Differential Private Scheme towards Analytical Star-Join Queries
Star-join query is the fundamental task in data warehouse and has wide
applications in On-line Analytical Processing (OLAP) scenarios. Due to the
large number of foreign key constraints and the asymmetric effect in the
neighboring instance between the fact and dimension tables, even those latest
DP efforts specifically designed for join, if directly applied to star-join
query, will suffer from extremely large estimation errors and expensive
computational cost. In this paper, we are thus motivated to propose DP-starJ, a
novel Differentially Private framework for star-Join queries. DP-starJ consists
of a series of strategies tailored to specific features of star-join, including
1) we unveil the different effect of fact and dimension tables on the
neighboring database instances, and accordingly revisit the definitions
tailored to different cases of star-join; 2) we propose Predicate Mechanism
(PM), which utilizes predicate perturbation to inject noise into the join
procedure instead of the results; 3) to further boost the robust performance,
we propose a DP-compliant star-join algorithm for various types of star-join
tasks based on PM. We provide both theoretical analysis and empirical study,
which demonstrate the superiority of the proposed methods over the
state-of-the-art solutions in terms of accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
Reduced Energy Metabolism Impairs T Cell-Dependent B Cell Responses in Patients With Advanced HBV-Related Cirrhosis
Background and AimsPatients with decompensated HBV-related liver cirrhosis (HBV D-LC) showed compromised immune responses, which manifested as a proneness to develop infections and hyporesponsiveness to vaccines, resulting in accelerated disease progression. The alterations in T cell-dependent B cell responses in this pathophysiological process were not well understood. This study aimed to investigate T cell-dependent B cell responses in this process and discuss the mechanism from the perspective of metabolism.MethodsChanges in phenotypes and subsets of peripheral B cells between HBV D-LC patients and healthy controls (HCs) were compared by flow cytometry. Isolated B cells were activated by coculture with circulating T follicular (cTfh) cells. After coculture, the frequencies of plasmablasts and plasma cells and immunoglobin levels were analyzed. Oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) and glycolysis were analyzed by a Seahorse analyzer. Mitochondrial function and the AKT/mTOR pathway were analyzed by flow cytometry.ResultsThe proliferation and differentiation capacities of B cells after T cell stimulation were impaired in D-LC. Furthermore, we found that B cells from D-LC patients showed reductions in OXPHOS and glycolysis after activation, which may result from reduced glucose uptake, mitochondrial dysfunction and attenuated activation of the AKT/mTOR pathway.ConclusionsB cells from HBV D-LC patients showed dysfunctional energy metabolism after T cell-dependent activation. Understanding the regulations of B cell metabolic pathway and their changes may provide a new direction to rescue B cell hyporesponsiveness in patients with HBV D-LC, preventing these patients be infected and improving sensitivity to vaccines
Creep Modelling of Rootstock during Holding in Watermelon Grafting
The fragile structure of a rootstock predisposes the stem to mechanical damage during grafting. Thus, it is necessary to take into account the rootstock’s rheological properties under mechanical compression when designing a clamping mechanism. This study focused on cucurbit, a typical rootstock for watermelon grafting. Firstly, we adopted a four-element Burgers model to analyze viscoelastic behavior and deformation characteristics of the rootstock, then conducted creep tests to obtain the parameters of the viscoelastic model. Next, we developed a model for the rootstock during holding based on viscoelastic parameters, loading force and contact time. Moreover, we evaluated the effect of various loading forces and test velocities on creep deformation to reveal the least damage on the rootstock. Results showed that the influence of loading force on the creep deformation was greater than test velocity. Finally, the holding test indicated that the clamping mechanism with silicone rubber can effectively prevent the damage to the stem. Specifically, the loading force should be controlled below 4 N to reduce the associated damage. Taken together, our findings provide a theoretical basis for analyzing the holding damage mechanism during watermelon grafting
Dual-modulus 3D printing technology for magnetorheological Metamaterials-Part II: Negative regulation theory and application
Metamaterials are artificially structured periodic materials that have remarkable property of wave attenuation in bandgaps. However, metamaterials with adjustable and low-frequency bandgap are still challenge in traditional method. In this work, a novel magnetorheological metamaterial (MRM) with negative regulation and low -frequency bandgaps was fabricated by dual-modulus 3D printing technology. The bandgaps of negative regulation MRM were analyzed theoretically by using the mass-spring model. As a result, the starting frequency of bandgap reduced by 37.6% and ending frequency increased by 47.8% under external magnetic field. Moreover, the propagation characteristics of longitudinal wave in negative regulation MRM were also studied and the results indicated that the stiffnesses were magnetic-related, and the bandgap can be tuned substantially under external magnetic field. This work presented a negative regulation MRM that the bandgap was broadened and moved to lower frequency under the external magnetic field, showing a great potential in the field of vibration isolation
