Analysing Controversy on Twitter via Graph Embeddings
Social networks represent a public forum of discussion for various topics, some of them controversial. Twitter is such a social network; it acts as a public space where discourse occurs. In recent years the role of social networks in information spreading has increased. As have the fears regarding the increasingly polarised discourse on social networks, caused by the tendency of users to avoid exposure to opposing opinions, while increasingly interacting with only like-minded individuals. This work looks at controversial topics on Twitter, over a long period of time, through the prism of political polarisation. We use the daily interactions, and the underlying structure of the whole conversation, to create daily graphs that are then used to obtain daily graph embeddings. We estimate the political ideologies of the users that are represented in the graph embeddings. By using the political ideologies of users and the daily graph embeddings, we offer a series of methods
that allow us to detect and analyse changes in the political polarisation of the conversation. This enables us to conclude that, during our analysed time period, the overall polarisation levels for our examined controversial topics have stagnated. We also explore the effects of topic-related controversial events on the conversation, thus revealing their short-term effect on the conversation as a whole. Additionally, the linkage between increased interest in a topic and the increase of political polarisation is explored. Our findings reveal that as the interest in the controversial topic increases, so does the political polarisation
Towards to the Respiritualization of the Economics
To reflect the economical life is a dynamic and complex process, and that means to adapt the economics to the problems generated by the evolution.The authors stand for the idea that in the present we are the witness of growth the complexity of problems, the emphasis of the interferences and their opening towards time and space of a living conscience belonging to the kind of the “whole integrated”.In accordance with the new trends that shaped the science, the view of the economic life should be realized from the perspective of the “whole living common”. This means to understand economics as an organic part of the natural environment and of the environment created by man, where its functional sense is brought into the harmony by the principles of rationality and hope, by the statement of the “win-win” rules for the whole participants of the living common’s life.The new culture of the economical and social life is founded on the values of freedom and responsibilities, social community and human solidarity, as values integrated under the exigencies of the “assumed freedom”.The value-added in economy, as a new created value is the source to understand the “win-win” principle for the enterprises, people, communities, families, and institutions, including here the keeping of the ecological equilibrium
Invariant critical sets of conserved quantities
For a dynamical system we will construct various invariant sets starting from
its conserved quantities. We will give conditions under which certain solutions
of a nonlinear system are also solutions for a simpler dynamical system, for
example when they are solutions for a linear dynamical system. We will apply
these results to the example of Toda lattice
Geomorphosites and geotourism in Bucharest city center (Romania)
The present paper aims at inventorying the geomophosites in Bucharest as well as introducing geotouristic
itineraries that take into account the long-time developed high value cultural heritage of the area. The process included
several stages: studying Bucharest’s relief and cultural- historical elements with tourist value from existing bibliography,
cartographic methods (aerial photos and different editions of topographic maps), as well as the information
gathered from field investigations; identifying and inventorying geomorphosites, assessing the population’s opinion
about geoheritage (geomorphosites) and its capitalization in tourism activities, 100 questionnaires were applied; creating
geotouristic itineraries and later promoting them. The most valuable and representative geomorphosites identified
are: on Colentina Valley (the Plumbuita, Ostrov, Dobroeşti and Pantelimon hills) (aren’t located in the study area), on
Dâmboviței Valley (Cotroceni, Șerban Vodă, Mitropoliei, Spirii, Filaret and Arsenal hills, Țăcăliei, Procopoaiei, University
terraces, Dâmbovița Meadow). The authors suggest two geotouristic itineraries that emphasize the relationship
between the scientific, cultural, and historic elements as well as the human-nature report within the urban area
Stability of equilibrium states in the Zhukovski case of heavy gyrostat using algebraic methods
We study the stability of the equilibrium points of a skew product system. We
analyze the possibility to construct a Lyapunov function using a set of
conserved quantities and solving an algebraic system. We apply the theoretical
results to study the stability of an equilibrium state of a heavy gyrostat in
the Zhukovski case
