    La presente investigación se realizó en a Cooperativa Agrícola Integral Unión de 4 Pinos, R.L., Finca La Suiza, San Lucas Sacatepéquez, mediante el diagnóstico realizado en Finca La Suiza, área productora de Cooperativa Agrícola Integral Unión de 4 Pinos, determinando que la importancia de investigar el uso de nuevas tecnologías que aumenten la vida de anaquel del zucchini. La investigación consistió en la evaluación del efecto de los ingredientes activos Boscalid+Pyraclostrobin en la producción y prolongación de vida en anaquel del zucchini, para lo cual el ensayo fue dividido en dos etapas, la primera la producción en campo y la segunda el manejo postcosecha en planta empacadora. La primera parte fue realizada en Finca La Suiza, para lo cual se elaboró un plan de manejo fitosanitario, tomando como base el plan de manejo fitosanitario para el cultivo de zucchini Departamento Agrícola 2009, a la cual se incluyeron las aplicaciones de la estrobilurina (Boscalid+Pyraclostrobin) se evaluaron cuatro tratamientos, de los cuales uno era el testigo absoluto, dos tratamientos con 2 y 3 aplicaciones de la estrobilurina (Boscalid+Pyraclostrobin) en diferentes etapas fenológicas del cultivo y un cuarto tratamiento el manejo tradicional del Departamento Agrícola, asi como manejo postcosecha del producto, el cual fue sometido a un procedimiento de clasificación, lavado, desinfección, empaque y colocación en cuarto frio (4ºC) para determinar los días de vida en anaquel del zucchini

    Discovery of a novel dominant mutation in the REN gene after forty years of renal disease: a case report.

    Heterozygous mutations in the gene encoding renin (REN) cause autosomal dominant tubulointerstitial kidney disease (ADTKD), early-onset anaemia and hyperuricaemia; only four different mutations have been described in the published literature to date.     Tranexamic acid for intracerebral haemorrhage within 2 hours of onset : protocol of a phase II randomised placebo-controlled double-blind multicentre trial

    Rationale Haematoma growth is common early after intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH), and is a key determinant of outcome. Tranexamic acid, a widely available antifibrinolytic agent with an excellent safety profile, may reduce haematoma growth. Methods and design Stopping intracerebral haemorrhage with tranexamic acid for hyperacute onset presentation including mobile stroke units (STOP-MSU) is a phase II double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled, multicentre, international investigator-led clinical trial, conducted within the estimand statistical framework. Hypothesis In patients with spontaneous ICH, treatment with tranexamic acid within 2 hours of onset will reduce haematoma expansion compared with placebo. Sample size estimates A sample size of 180 patients (90 in each arm) would be required to detect an absolute difference in the primary outcome of 20% (placebo 39% vs treatment 19%) under a two-tailed significance level of 0.05. An adaptive sample size re-estimation based on the outcomes of 144 patients will allow a possible increase to a prespecified maximum of 326 patients. Intervention Participants will receive 1 g intravenous tranexamic acid over 10 min, followed by 1 g intravenous tranexamic acid over 8 hours; or matching placebo. Primary efficacy measure The primary efficacy measure is the proportion of patients with haematoma growth by 24 +/- 6 hours, defined as either >= 33% relative increase or >= 6 mL absolute increase in haematoma volume between baseline and follow-up CT scan. Discussion We describe the rationale and protocol of STOP-MSU, a phase II trial of tranexamic acid in patients with ICH within 2 hours from onset, based in participating mobile stroke units and emergency departments.Peer reviewe

    Evidence for Widespread Genomic Methylation in the Migratory Locust, Locusta migratoria (Orthoptera: Acrididae)

    The importance of DNA methylation in mammalian and plant systems is well established. In recent years there has been renewed interest in DNA methylation in insects. Accumulating evidence, both from mammals and insects, points towards an emerging role for DNA methylation in the regulation of phenotypic plasticity. The migratory locust (Locusta migratoria) is a model organism for the study of phenotypic plasticity. Despite this, there is little information available about the degree to which the genome is methylated in this species and genes encoding methylation machinery have not been previously identified. We therefore undertook an initial investigation to establish the presence of a functional DNA methylation system in L. migratoria. We found that the migratory locust possesses genes that putatively encode methylation machinery (DNA methyltransferases and a methyl-binding domain protein) and exhibits genomic methylation, some of which appears to be localised to repetitive regions of the genome. We have also identified a distinct group of genes within the L. migratoria genome that appear to have been historically methylated and show some possible functional differentiation. These results will facilitate more detailed research into the functional significance of DNA methylation in locusts

    Collective foraging in spatially complex nutritional environments

    International audienceOne contribution of 13 to a theme issue 'Physiological determinants of social behaviour in animals'. Subject Areas: behaviour, computational biology, ecology, physiology Nutrition impinges on virtually all aspects of an animal's life, including social interactions. Recent advances in nutritional ecology show how social animals often trade-off individual nutrition and group cohesion when foraging in simplified experimental environments. Here, we explore how the spatial structure of the nutritional landscape influences these complex collective foraging dynamics in ecologically realistic environments. We introduce an individual-based model integrating key concepts of nutritional geometry, collective animal behaviour and spatial ecology to study the nutritional behaviour of animal groups in large heterogeneous environments containing foods with different abundance, patchiness and nutritional composition. Simulations show that the spatial distribution of foods constrains the ability of individuals to balance their nutrient intake, the lowest performance being attained in environments with small isolated patches of nutritionally complementary foods. Social interactions improve individual regulatory performances when food is scarce and clumpy, but not when it is abundant and scattered, suggesting that collective foraging is favoured in some environments only. These social effects are further amplified if foragers adopt flexible search strategies based on their individual nutritional state. Our model provides a conceptual and predictive framework for developing new empirically testable hypotheses in the emerging field of social nutrition.
