treatment but has not previously
been reported during inhaled corticosteroid

inhaled corticosteroid treatment and the
unexpected modes of presentation. General

The new controls infrastructure for the SPS
A completely new control infrastructure has been installed in the SPS machine and experimental areas, replacing the old control system based on NORD computers that dated back to the 1970s. The new system uses Unix workstations and X terminals to replace the old console computers, and PC and VME chassis running LynxOS to replace the low-level interface computers. This paper will present the old equipment access, then describe the transitional phase when the two systems were run in parallel followed by the final complete transition to the new system and the removal of the NORD computers. A great effort was made to recreate the old programming environment in the new system in order to preserve the enormous investment in application programs. The equipment access and the NORD console simulator are two examples of this effort. Finally the paper will present the results of the first few months of operation of the SPS and its experimental areas with this new control infrastructure
Unstable Hadrons in Hot Hadron Gas in Laboratory and in the Early Universe
We study kinetic master equations for chemical reactions involving the
formation and the natural decay of unstable particles in a thermal bath. We
consider the decay channel of one into two particles, and the inverse process,
fusion of two thermal particles into one. We present the master equations the
evolution of the density of the unstable particles in the early Universe. We
obtain the thermal invariant reaction rate using as an input the free space
(vacuum) decay time and show the medium quantum effects on reaction relaxation time. As another laboratory example
we describe the process in thermal hadronic gas in
heavy-ion collisions. A particularly interesting application of our formalism
is the process in the early Universe.
We also explore the physics of and freeze-out in the

DNET: A communications facility for distributed heterogeneous computing
This document describes DNET, a heterogeneous data communications networking facility. DNET allows programs operating on hosts on dissimilar networks to communicate with one another without concern for computer hardware, network protocol, or operating system differences. The overall DNET network is defined as the collection of host machines/networks on which the DNET software is operating. Each underlying network is considered a DNET 'domain'. Data communications service is provided between any two processes on any two hosts on any of the networks (domains) that may be reached via DNET. DNET provides protocol transparent, reliable, streaming data transmission between hosts (restricted, initially to DECnet and TCP/IP networks). DNET also provides variable length datagram service with optional return receipts
SwSt 1: an O-rich planetary nebula around a C-rich central star
The hydrogen-deficient carbon-rich [WCL] type central star HD167362 and its
oxygen-rich planetary nebula (PN) SwSt~1 are investigated. The nebular
chemistry might indicate a recent origin for the carbon-rich stellar spectrum.
Its stellar and nebular properties might therefore provide further
understanding of the origin of the [WCL] central star class. The UV-IR stellar
spectra are modelled with state of the codes and show ~40kK central star with a
wind and a C/O~3, indicative of efficient third dredge-up. The synthetic
stellar flux distribution is used to model the high density, compact PN, which
has a solar C/O ratio, is still enshrouded by 1200K and 230K dust shells and,
reported here for the first time, in molecular hydrogen. Although it appears
that the change in C/O ratio has been recent, the published spectroscopy since
1895 has been re-examined and no clear spectral change is seen. If an event
occurred that has turned it into a hydrogen-deficient central star, it did not

Fluctuation Spectrum from a Scalar-Tensor Bimetric Gravity Theory
Predictions of the CMB spectrum from a bimetric gravity theory
(gr-qc/0101126) are presented. The initial inflationary period in BGT is driven
by a vanishingly small speed of gravitational waves v_g in the very early
universe. This initial inflationary period is insensitive to the choice of
scalar field potential and initial values of the scalar field. After this
initial period of inflation, v_g will increase rapidly and the effects of a
potential will become important. We show that a quadratic potential introduced
into BGT yields an approximately flat spectrum with inflation parameters:
n_s=0.98, n_t=-0.027, alpha_s=-3.2e-4 and alpha_t=-5.0e-4, with r >= 0.014.Comment: 14 pages, uses amsmath, amssym
Localized seismic deformation in the upper mantle revealed by dense seismic arrays
Seismicity along continental transform faults is usually confined to the upper half of the crust, but the Newport-Inglewood fault (NIF), a major fault traversing the Los Angeles basin, is seismically active down to the upper mantle. We use seismic array analysis to illuminate the seismogenic root of the NIF beneath Long Beach, California, and identify seismicity in an actively deforming localized zone penetrating the lithospheric mantle. Deep earthquakes, which are spatially correlated with geochemical evidence of a fluid pathway from the mantle, as well as with a sharp vertical offset in the lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary, exhibit narrow size distribution and weak temporal clustering. We attribute these characteristics to a transition from strong to weak interaction regimes in a system of seismic asperities embedded in a ductile fault zone matrix
