Spirituality: A Tool for Professional School Counselors Working in an Urban Secondary Setting
This study reviews literature concerning the use of spirituality in school counseling. The literature reviewed reveals that spirituality is a school counseling tool that can be used to help students in an urban secondary school setting thrive despite the specific challenges of their setting. Based on this information, an intervention was developed and executed to increase counselorsā understanding and use of spirituality in an urban secondary school setting. Results from the intervention suggest that following participation, counselors better understand the meaning and breadth of the word spirituality, how they use spirituality in their work, as well as the importance of using spirituality in their work. This research also discusses implications for future researchers planning to assess spirituality
Women with Heart Failure Are at High Psychosocial Risk: A Systematic Review of How Sex and Gender Influence Heart Failure Self-Care
To improve patient support, it is important to understand how people view and experience Heart Failure (HF) self-care. This systematic review of qualitative studies included all published studies that examine the influence of sex and gender on HF self-care. A systematic search was done for papers (1995ā2010) indexed in Ovid MEDLINE, Ovid Medline, Ovid EMBASE, Ovid PsycINFO, CSA Sociological Abstracts, OVID AARP Ageline, EBSCO Academic Search Complete, EBSCO CINAHL, EBSCO SocINDEX, ISI Web of Science: Social Sciences Citation Index and Science Citation Index Expanded, and Scopus. After screening of 537 citations, six qualitative studies identified that differences existed in perceptions of symptoms with women having less family involvement and psychosocial support around self-care. Moreover, women had considerably more negative views of the future, themselves and their ability to fulfill social self-care roles. Women with HF represent a highly vulnerable population and need more support for psychosocial wellbeing and self-care
Persistent Topology of Syntax
We study the persistent homology of the data set of syntactic parameters of
the world languages. We show that, while homology generators behave erratically
over the whole data set, non-trivial persistent homology appears when one
restricts to specific language families. Different families exhibit different
persistent homology. We focus on the cases of the Indo-European and the
Niger-Congo families, for which we compare persistent homology over different
cluster filtering values. We investigate the possible significance, in
historical linguistic terms, of the presence of persistent generators of the
first homology. In particular, we show that the persistent first homology
generator we find in the Indo-European family is not due (as one might guess)
to the Anglo-Norman bridge in the Indo-European phylogenetic network, but is
related to the position of Ancient Greek and the Hellenic branch within the

The Compositional Structure of the Asteroid Belt
The past decade has brought major improvements in large-scale asteroid
discovery and characterization with over half a million known asteroids and
over 100,000 with some measurement of physical characterization. This explosion
of data has allowed us to create a new global picture of the Main Asteroid
Belt. Put in context with meteorite measurements and dynamical models, a new
and more complete picture of Solar System evolution has emerged. The question
has changed from "What was the original compositional gradient of the Asteroid
Belt?" to "What was the original compositional gradient of small bodies across
the entire Solar System?" No longer is the leading theory that two belts of
planetesimals are primordial, but instead those belts were formed and sculpted
through evolutionary processes after Solar System formation. This article
reviews the advancements on the fronts of asteroid compositional
characterization, meteorite measurements, and dynamical theories in the context
of the heliocentric distribution of asteroid compositions seen in the Main Belt
today. This chapter also reviews the major outstanding questions relating to
asteroid compositions and distributions and summarizes the progress and current
state of understanding of these questions to form the big picture of the
formation and evolution of asteroids in the Main Belt. Finally, we briefly
review the relevance of asteroids and their compositions in their greater

Polaron Physics in Optical Lattices
We investigate the effects of a nearly uniform Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC)
on the properties of immersed trapped impurity atoms. Using a weak-coupling
expansion in the BEC-impurity interaction strength, we derive a model
describing polarons, i.e., impurities dressed by a coherent state of Bogoliubov
phonons, and apply it to ultracold bosonic atoms in an optical lattice. We show
that, with increasing BEC temperature, the transport properties of the
impurities change from coherent to diffusive. Furthermore, stable polaron
clusters are formed via a phonon-mediated off-site attraction.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Changes in zircon chemistry during archean UHT metamorphism in the Napier complex, Antarctica
Zircons from two paragneisses (from Mount Sones and Dallwitz Nunatak) and one orthogneiss (from Gage Ridge) in the Tula Mountains, Napier Complex (East Antarctica) were analyzed for U-Pb age, oxygen isotopes, REEs and by scanning ion imaging. A large number of zircons from all samples are reversely discordant. Mount Sones zircons show an age range from 3.0 Ga to 2.5 Ga and underwent high-grade metamorphism at both ~2.8 Ga and 2.5 Ga. Zircons from Dallwitz Nunatak record detrital ages between 3.5 Ga and 2.5 Ga. Zircons from Gage Ridge record multiple age groups, with concordant data between 3.6 Ga and 3.3 Ga and reversely discordant data that form a discrete ~3.8 Ga population. All of the grains show evidence of Pb mobility during metamorphism. Ion imaging of zircons reveals Y and U zonation, characteristic of magmatic zircon, together with a micro-scale patchy distribution of 206Pb and 207Pb that does not correspond to either growth zonation or crystal imperfections. Some of these patches yield 207Pb/206Pb ages >4 Ga, whereas others yield ages younger than the magmatic crystallization age. Reversely discordant data are the result of ancient Pb mobilization, which is independent of the degree of metamictisation, oxygen isotope and REE content of the zircons. This mobilization can result in spurious ages and was most likely caused by polymetamorphism under anhydrous conditions; that is two high-grade events; one poorly defined at ~2.8 Ga and the other ultra-high temperature (UHT) metamorphism at 2.5 Ga
The potential for dietary factors to prevent or treat osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease for which there are no disease-modifying drugs. It is a leading cause of disability in the UK. Increasing age and obesity are both major risk factors for OA and the health and economic burden of this disease will increase in the future. Focusing on compounds from the habitual diet that may prevent the onset or slow the progression of OA is a strategy that has been under-investigated to date. An approach that relies on dietary modification is clearly attractive in terms of risk/benefit and more likely to be implementable at the population level. However, before undertaking a full clinical trial to examine potential efficacy, detailed molecular studies are required in order to optimise the design. This review focuses on potential dietary factors that may reduce the risk or progression of OA, including micronutrients, fatty acids, flavonoids and other phytochemicals. It therefore ignores data coming from classical inflammatory arthritides and nutraceuticals such as glucosamine and chondroitin. In conclusion, diet offers a route by which the health of the joint can be protected and OA incidence or progression decreased. In a chronic disease, with risk factors increasing in the population and with no pharmaceutical cure, an understanding of this will be crucial
Physical characteristics explain ball-carrying capability in sub-elite rugby union players.
The aims of the present study were two-fold: (i) to investigate the relationship between physical characteristics and the game statistics associated with ball-carrying capability amongst sub-elite rugby union players; and (ii) to predict the level of change in these physical characteristics required to improve the associated game statistic via regression analysis. Thirty-eight senior professional players (forwards, n = 22; backs, n = 16) were assessed for body mass (BM), back squat (BS) single-repetition maximum (1RM) normalised to BM (1RM/BM), 10 m sprint velocity (S10), 10 m sprint momentum (SM10), and the game statistics from 22 games within the 2019/20 RFU Championship season. The relationship between these measures and the predicted level of change in a physical measure required to improve the total number of the associated game statistic by one were assessed by Pearson's correlation coefficient and simple regression analyses. In forwards, an ~ 11.5% reduction in BM, an ~ 11.8% improvement in BS 1RM/BM, or an ~ 11.5% increase in S10 was required to improve the game statistics associated with ball-carrying capability. In backs, a ~ 19.3% increase in BM or a ~ 15.6% improvement in SM10 was required. These findings demonstrate that improvements in lower-body relative strength, acceleration performance, and position-specific alterations in body mass are required to maximise the ball-carrying capability and therefore match outcome of sub-elite rugby union players
