Pole -mounted sonar vibration prediction using CMAC neural networks

    Get PDF
The efficiency and accuracy of pole-mounted sonar systems are severely affected by pole vibration, Traditional signal processing techniques are not appropriate for the pole vibration problem due to the nonlinearity of the pole vibration and the lack of a priori knowledge about the statistics of the data to be processed. A novel approach of predicting the pole-mounted sonar vibration using CMAC neural networks is presented. The feasibility of this approach is studied in theory, evaluated by simulation and verified with a real-time laboratory prototype, Analytical bounds of the learning rate of a CMAC neural network are derived which guarantee convergence of the weight vector in the mean. Both simulation and experimental results indicate the CMAC neural network is an effective tool for this vibration prediction problem

Cortical Areas Associated With Mismatch Negativity: A Connectivity Study Using Propofol Anesthesia

Auditory mismatch negativity (MMN) is an event-related potential (ERP) waveform induced by rare deviant stimuli that occur in a stream of regular auditory stimuli. The generators of MMN are believed to include several different cortical regions like the bilateral temporal and the right inferior frontal gyrus (IFG). However, exact cortical regions associated with MMN remain controversial. In this study, we compared the number of long-distance connections induced by the standard and deviant stimuli during awake state and propofol anesthesia state to identify the cortical areas associated with the generation of MMN. In awake state, we find that deviant stimuli synchronize more information between the right frontal and temporal than standard stimuli. Moreover, we find that the deviant stimuli in awake state activate the bilateral frontal, central areas, the left temporal and parietal areas as compared to the anesthesia state, whereas the standard stimuli do not. These results suggest that, in addition to the bilateral temporal and the right IFG, the bilateral frontal and centro-parietal regions also contribute to the generation of MMN

Intracellular CD24 disrupts the ARF–NPM interaction and enables mutational and viral oncogene-mediated p53 inactivation

CD24 is overexpressed in nearly 70% human cancers, whereas TP53 is the most frequently mutated tumour-suppressor gene that functions in a context-dependent manner. Here we show that both targeted mutation and short hairpin RNA (shRNA) silencing of CD24 retard the growth, progression and metastasis of prostate cancer. CD24 competitively inhibits ARF binding to NPM, resulting in decreased ARF, increase MDM2 and decrease levels of p53 and the p53 target p21/CDKN1A. CD24 silencing prevents functional inactivation of p53 by both somatic mutation and viral oncogenes, including the SV40 large T antigen and human papilloma virus 16 E6-antigen. In support of the functional interaction between CD24 and p53, in silico analyses reveal that TP53 mutates at a higher rate among glioma and prostate cancer samples with higher CD24 mRNA levels. These data provide a general mechanism for functional inactivation of ARF and reveal an important cellular context for genetic and viral inactivation of TP53. P53 is a tumour suppressor that is frequently mutated or downregulated in cancer. Here, Wang et al. show that CD24, a molecule frequently overexpressed in cancer, promotes p53 degradation by disrupting a regulatory ARF–MDM2 interaction, and silencing CD24 prevents the downregulation of p53

With the development of social economy, industrial design has become more and more influential. The development of the industrial design industry is one of the signs showing a modern civilization, innovation ability and comprehensive national strength. In the future economic development, design will become the mainstream force driving innovation. It can be seen that showing the added value in industrial design is a popular trend in the power balance between countries in the future. This article will discuss the aesthetic thought of Sori Yanagi, the father of Japanese industrial design, and discuss the influence of his aesthetic thought on Japanese industrial design

ObjectiveThe antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an important cause of acquired thromboembolic complications and pregnancy morbidity. The pathogenic mechanisms that damage the fetal-maternal unit and cause abnormal placental development are incompletely understood in APS patients. Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS) based metabolomics are applied for the mechanism of disease and further supporting the research of diagnosis and management in recent years. The aim of this research was to investigate the difference of serum metabolic profiles in recurrent abortion women with APS and healthy women to explore the mechanism of this disease.MethodsSerum samples of 25 recurrent abortion women with APS and 25 healthy women were collected and analyzed by LC/MS in this study. Potential biomarkers were discovered by multivariate statistical analysis and then identified based on analysis results.ResultsTotally, we identified five biomarkers that involved in different metabolic pathway such as purine metabolism, amino acid metabolism and tyrosine metabolism. These biomarkers showed different roles in disease development.ConclusionMetabolomics was proved as a powerful tool in understanding the mechanism of recurrent abortion caused by APS

Design of tunable bandgap guidance in high-index filled microstructure fibers

    No full text
Tunable photonic bandgap (PBG) microstructure fibers, which were filled nematic liquid crystals (NLC), were theoretically investigated based on bandgap theory. By means of the modified plane-wave method, it is found that PBGs shift to the longer wavelength with increasing refractive index of NLC [ny(?)] for y-polarized light. Fundamental modes are found in these PBG reigns, whose effective mode area, leakage loss and group velocity dispersion (GVD) have been calculated by using the full-vector finite-element method with anisotropic perfectly matched layers. The mode fields become larger with the increase of ny(?) , whereas the leakage loss varies slightly. Moreover, GVD is strongly dependent on ny(?) and wavelength, which is much larger than the material dispersion of silica
