Rare hadronic B decays
Rare hadronic B-meson decays allow us to study CP violation. The class of B
decays final states containing two vector mesons provides a rich set of angular
correlation observables to study. This article reviews some of the recent
experimental results from the BaBar and Belle collaborations.Comment: International Conference on Flavor Physics, Chung-Li, Taiwan, 3rd-8th

On a class of topological quantum field theories in three-dimensions
We investigate the Chung-Fukuma-Shapere theory, or Kuperberg theory, of
three-dimensional lattice topological field theory. We construct a functor
which satisfies the Atiyah's axioms of topological quantum field theory by
reformulating the theory as Turaev-Viro type state-sum theory on a triangulated
manifold. The theory can also be extended to give a topological invariant of
manifolds with boundary.Comment: 22 pages, LaTeX, 9 ps figures include
About the rapidity and helicity distributions of the W bosons produced at LHC
bosons are produced at LHC from a forward-backward symmetric initial
state. Their decay to a charged lepton and a neutrino has a strong spin
analysing power. The combination of these effects results in characteristic
distributions of the pseudorapidity of the leptons decaying from and
of different helicity. This observation may open the possibility to
measure precisely the and rapidity distributions for the two
transverse polarisation states of bosons produced at small transverse
momentum.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure
Cooperative Investments Induced by Contract Law
Lecture on the first SFB/TR 15 meeting, Gummersbach, July, 18 - 20, 2004This paper revisits the economic analysis of contract law for a setting of cooperative investments. While Che and Chung (1999) have shown that expectation damages perform rather poorly, the present paper argues that this negative result follows from their impicit assumption of unilateral expectation damages. Yet, the very nature of cooperative investments gives rise to the possibility that both parties may claim expectation damages. It is shown that such a regime of bilateral expectation damages provides the incentives for the first best solution even in a framework of binary choice where, for selfish investments, the traditional overreliance result would hold
Electron reflectivity measurements of Ag adatom concentrations on W(110)
The density of two-dimensional Ag adatom gases on W(110) is determined by
monitoring local electron reflectivity using low energy electron microscopy
(LEEM). This method of adatom concentration measurement can detect changes in
adatom density at least as small as 10 ML for a m size region of
the surface. Using this technique at high temperatures, we measure the
sublimation rates of Ag adatoms on W(110). At lower temperatures, where Ag
adatoms condense into monolayer islands, we determine the temperature
dependence of the density of adatoms coexisting with this condensed phase and
compare it with previous estimates.Comment: Presented at the ECOSS 23 Conference (Berlin 2005
