Retraction and Generalized Extension of Computing with Words
Fuzzy automata, whose input alphabet is a set of numbers or symbols, are a
formal model of computing with values. Motivated by Zadeh's paradigm of
computing with words rather than numbers, Ying proposed a kind of fuzzy
automata, whose input alphabet consists of all fuzzy subsets of a set of
symbols, as a formal model of computing with all words. In this paper, we
introduce a somewhat general formal model of computing with (some special)
words. The new features of the model are that the input alphabet only comprises
some (not necessarily all) fuzzy subsets of a set of symbols and the fuzzy
transition function can be specified arbitrarily. By employing the methodology
of fuzzy control, we establish a retraction principle from computing with words
to computing with values for handling crisp inputs and a generalized extension
principle from computing with words to computing with all words for handling
fuzzy inputs. These principles show that computing with values and computing
with all words can be respectively implemented by computing with words. Some
algebraic properties of retractions and generalized extensions are addressed as

SAGITTAL AND FRONTAL LOWER LIMBS KINETICS DURING STEPPING DOWN IN TAICHI ELDERLY
The aim was to compare the kinetic characteristics of the beginning stance phase during stepping down in Taichi and normal elderly. Nine elderly taichi subjects and eleven matched controls participated in the study. Whole body kinematics and ground reaction forces (GRF) were recorded using 10 Vicon cameras (250Hz) and two Kistler force plates (1000Hz). Sagittal and frontal kinetic parameters were calculated by using Visual3D software. Differences in variables between groups were tested using t-test. The results indicated hip extensor / knee flexor / ankle plantarflexor / support moment and peak hip/knee/ankle power were greater in Taichi group. It was concluded that Taichi group
has ability to translate forward movement (hip moment / power), to control body (knee moment /power) and to absorption energy (ankle moment / power) in sagittal plane
Accelerometer-assessed light physical activity is protective of future cognitive ability: A longitudinal study among community dwelling older adults
OBJECTIVE:
Physical activity (PA), especially moderate-to-vigorous intensity, could protect older adults from cognitive impairment. However, most literature is based on self-reported PA which is limited by recall bias. Light PA is popular among older adults, but a paucity of objective longitudinal data has considered the relationship between light PA and cognitive ability. We examined if a higher level of objectively measured light PA, independent of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA), was prospectively associated with better cognitive ability in older adults.
METHODS:
A longitudinal study over 22.12 (±1.46) months including 274 community-dwelling older adults across 14 regions in Taiwan was undertaken. Cognitive ability was obtained using a Chinese version of the Ascertain Dementia 8-item Questionnaire (AD8) and light PA and MVPA captured by 7days accelerometer positioned on waist. Multivariable negative binomial regression adjusted for confounders were undertaken.
RESULTS:
274 participants (74.52years, 45.6% male) attended the follow-up (96.1%). Higher light PA, independent from MVPA, was associated with a reduced rate of decline in cognitive ability (rate ratio 0.75 [0.60-0.92]). MVPA, was also associated with a reduced decline in cognitive ability (rate ratio 0.85 [0.75-0.95]). Light PA was protective of cognitive ability in sensitivity analyses removing participants with activities of daily living difficulties, depressive symptoms and cognitive impairment at baseline.
CONCLUSION:
Our data suggest that light PA may offer a protective influence of future cognitive ability in community dwelling older adults. The promotion of light PA may be a valuable means to maintain cognitive ability in older age

Discovery and function of polyomaviral microRNAs
textPolyomaviruses are small, DNA tumor viruses that establish persistent infections in their natural hosts. Several members of the virus family are associated with human pathologies such as Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML), trichodysplasia spinulosa and Merkel cell carcinoma. Polyomaviruses are one of the first virus family known to encode miRNAs. These polyomaviral miRNAs are located antisense to the early transcripts and hence, mediate the autoregulation of the viral early proteins, the T antigens. There are two major questions in the field of polyomaviral miRNAs – What is the biological significance of this miRNA-mediated autoregulation of the early transcripts? Are there other biological significant targets for these polyomaviral miRNAs?
This work addressed these two questions through an evolutionary approach. First, examination of SV40 and JCV variants indicated the high conservation of the miRNAs and their autoregulatory functions. Second, miRNA-mediated autoregulation of the early transcripts is conserved in a newly discovered, evolutionarily divergent viruses, the Bandicoot papillomatosis and Carcinomatosis viruses (BPCVs). Third, by inspecting divergent members of the polyomavirus family, we have shown that some non-human polyomaviruses encode miRNAs, with the function to autoregulate the early transcripts conserved. The conservation of miRNAs both among variants of individual member and across divergent members of the polyomavirus family implies importance. More importantly, a conserved function of autoregulating the early transcript further emphasized the biological relevance of the miRNAs in polyomavirus biology. Yet, the lack of replicative differences between miRNA-expressing and miRNA-null SV40 strains during lytic infections suggests a role for the polyomaviral miRNAs under a different setting, perhaps in the establishment of persistent infection of their natural hosts.
This work represents an evolutionary study of polyomaviral miRNAs that has demonstrated the conserved nature of miRNA-mediated autoregulation of the early transcripts among various members of the polyomavirus and polyoma-like virus families. These results have implicated a potential role for the polyomaviral miRNAs in the establishment of persistent infection and raised the possibility of using the JCV miRNAs as potential biomarkers as a non-invasive form of diagnostic for PML.Biochemistr
Low Intensity of Running Favors for Anabolic Response after Resistance Exercise
Purpose: Whether active or passive recovery after resistance exercise may affect anabolic and catabolic response is not clear. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of active (moderate or low intensity running) and passive (rest) recovery after resistance exercise on testosterone, cortisol and testosterone/cortisol ratio (T/C) responses. Methods: By counter-balanced design, nine recreationally active males (age: 23.89 ± 0.86 yrs of age; height: 172.89 ± 1.30 cm; weight: 68.37 ± 2.72 kg; VO2max: 56.56 ± 1.70 ml/kg/min) completed three tests including: 65% VO2max running (moderate intensity, RM), 40% VO2max running (low intensity, RL) and passive rest (RR) following 3sets of four resistance exercises (bench press, leg extension, front lat pulldown and leg curl, 12 repetitions at 60%1RM with 2min rest among all sets and exercises). In order to evaluate the systemic anabolic status, we measured plasma testosterone, cortisol and T/C ratio before resistance exercise (baseline), immediately after either active or passive recovery (post), and 30min after recovery (rest). Results: In RM group, T/C was significantly lower (decrease 18.5%, p\u3c.05) than baseline at rest. In RL group, T/C was significantly higher (increase 79.1% at post and increase 123.2% at rest, p\u3c.05) than baseline at post and rest, respectively. At rest, the T/C of RL was higher than RM (RM: 0.49 ± 0.12, RL: 1.08 ± 0.19, p\u3c.05). Conclusions: Resistance exercise and low intensity aerobic exercise is more favorable to enhance anabolic response during post-exercise recovery
ANALYZING MEDICAL TRANSACTION DATA BY USING ASSOCIATION RULE MINING WITH MULTIPLE MINIMUM SUPPORTS
The quick development of IS has a huge impact on the healthcare industry. almost all the existing hospitals, clinics and other healthcare-related institutes have adopted a functionally powerful and highly integrated Hospital Information System (HIS) for management of clinic or medical-related affairs. The medical data stored in the HIS are collected from many different medical subsystems, However, problems of failed data sharing and inconsistent data content often occur among these subsystems, resulting in many hospitals collect a large amount of medical data, but not the ability to process and analyse these data properly, letting the valuable data in the HIS all go to waste. In this study, we made a practical visit to a certain hospital in Taiwan and collected radioimmunoassay (RIA) data from the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and the Departmental Registration System (DRS) of this hospital. Further, we proposed a method of the association rule mining in combination with the concept of multiple minimum supports to analyse and find valuable association rules from the RIA data. The analytical results found the method we proposed can indeed find association rules that would not be able to be found with the traditional association mining methods. It is very helpful in improving doctor-patient relationship and upgrading health care quality

Stroke is a sudden onset neurological deficit due to a cerebrovascular event. In children, the recognition of stroke is often delayed due to the low incidence of stroke and the lack of specific assessment measures to this entity. The causes of pediatric stroke are significantly different from that of adult stroke. The lack of safety and efficiency data in the treatment is the challenge while facing children with stroke. Nearly half of survivors of pediatric stroke may have neurologic deficits affecting functional status and quality of life. They may cause a substantial burden on health care resources. Hence, an accurate history, including onset and duration of symptoms, risk factors, and a complete investigation, including hematologic, neuroimaging, and metabolic studies is the key to make a corrective diagnosis. A prompt and optimal treatment without delay may minimize the damage to the brain
A QoS-Based Services Selected Method in Service-Oriented Architectures Using Ant Colony System - A Case Study of Airflights
Semantic web is becoming more and more popular these days, and it’s an opportune moment to look at the field’s current state and future opportunities. However, most researchers focus on only one single service recommend from semantic web inference. In some situations, the Multi-Services which are combined many complex services from various service providers are better than single service. The designed Multi-Services Semantic Search System (MS4), which provides the cooperation web-based platform for all related mobile users and service providers, could strengthen the ability of Multi-Services suggestion. In this research, MS4 chooses the adaptable airflight as a case study. MS4 is a five-components system composed of the Mobile Users (MUs), UDDI Registries (UDDIRs), Service Providers (SPs), Semantic Web Services Server (SWSS), and Database Server (DS). Using SOA, OWL-S to build semantic web environment to inference user’s requirements and search various web services which are published in UDDI through the communication networks include internet and 3G/GPRS/GSM mobile networks.
