    Attractive Factors of Environment-Friendly Daily Necessities

    Going green is increasingly important to the market. The present research indicates that functional and emotional factors can achieve the best-perceived effects when choosing an environment-friendly product. Therefore, this study aims to gather these attractive factors from high-involvement groups by using Miryoku engineering. First, we capture the factors through the Evaluation Grid Method and use Quantification Theory Type I for quantitative analysis. Then, generalize four feelings about environment-friendly products, namely “Assured,” “Responsible,” “Safe,” and “Comfortable.” We also define a linear dimension with short-, normal-, and far-sight for locating attractive factors and feelings. The result shows that high-involvement groups are more concerned about the long-term impacts of “Responsible” feelings, while low-involvement groups focus more on the obvious benefits of “Responsible” and “Safe” feelings. Moreover, the emphasis on natural ingredients is necessary for achieving “Assured” and “Comfortable” feelings for both the high- and low-involvement groups

    With the growing popularity of social media, educators have been adopting social media platforms, such as TikTok, for learning purposes. Whilst the effectiveness of TikTok to increase learner engagement has been demonstrated, there was little evidence indicating the effectiveness of TikTok on actual learner performance through formal graded assessments. This study is one of the first attempts to investigate the effects of TikTok as a learning tool on learner performance. The findings from a controlled experiment indicate that TikTok had a beneficial impact on the learner\u27s performance as well as self-perceived engagement in an introductory statistics course

Most of appendiceal tumors are carcinoid, adenoma, and lymphoma. Adenocarcinoma of the appendix accounts for only 10% of all primary appendiceal cancers and the treatment remains controversial. In this article, we report a 67-year-old man who presented with symptoms of appendicitis that was diagnosed as adenocarcinoma of the appendix Stage II. The patient was treated with right hemicolectomy. To date he remains asymptomatic

    Armed with the great potential for business value and social networking, social media have generated great interests in academia and practice. Rare studies investigated the impact of social psychological factors on the usage of Facebook and the formation of quality relationship. The objective of this paper is to examine the key social psychological factors to better explain the formation of quality relationship. Our proposed theoretical model combined the theories of social influence, social identity, and social presence to capture the essences of the relationship quality between users and Facebook. We conducted a survey to collect data and empirically test our proposed model. Overall, our findings provide theoretical insights to explain the influence of social psychological factors on the usage of Facebook and quality relationship. These findings also help practitioners to plan marketing strategies in better utilize social network sites

    Stepwise Increases in Left Ventricular Mass Index and Decreases in Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction Correspond with the Stages of Chronic Kidney Disease in Diabetes Patients

    Aims. Patients with diabetic nephropathy are reported to have a high prevalence of left ventricular structural and functional abnormalities. This study was designed to assess the determinants of left ventricular mass index (LVMI) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) in diabetic patients at various stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Methods. This cross-sectional study enrolled 285 diabetic patients with CKD stages 3 to 5 from our outpatient department of internal medicine. Clinical and echocardiographic parameters were compared and analyzed. Results. We found a significant stepwise increase in LVMI (P < 0.001), LVH (P < 0.001), and LVEF <55% (P = 0.013) and a stepwise decrease in LVEF (P = 0.038) corresponding to advance in CKD stages. Conclusions. Our findings suggest that increases in LVMI and decreases in LVEF coincide with advances in CKD stages in patients with diabetes

    Tight Competitive Analyses of Online Car-Sharing Problems

    The car-sharing problem, proposed by Luo, Erlebach and Xu in 2018, mainly focuses on an online model in which there are two locations: 0 and 1, and kk total cars. Each request which specifies its pick-up time and pick-up location (among 0 and 1, and the other is the drop-off location) is released in each stage a fixed amount of time before its specified start (i.e. pick-up) time. The time between the booking (i.e. released) time and the start time is enough to move empty cars between 0 and 1 for relocation if they are not used in that stage. The model, called kkS2L-F, assumes that requests in each stage arrive sequentially regardless of the same booking time and the decision (accept or reject) must be made immediately. The goal is to accept as many requests as possible. In spite of only two locations, the analysis does not seem easy and the (tight) competitive ratio (CR) is only known to be 2.0 for k=2k=2 and 1.5 for a restricted value of kk, i.e., a multiple of three. In this paper, we remove all the holes of unknown CR's; namely we prove that the CR is 2kk+k/3\frac{2k}{k + \lfloor k/3 \rfloor} for all k2k\geq 2. Furthermore, if the algorithm can delay its decision until all requests have come in each stage, the CR is improved to roughly 4/3. We can take this advantage even further, precisely we can achieve a CR of 2+R3\frac{2+R}{3} if the number of requests in each stage is at most RkRk, 1R21 \leq R \leq 2, where we do not have to know the value of RR in advance. Finally we demonstrate that randomization also helps to get (slightly) better CR's
