Comprehensive modeling of resistive switching in the Al/TiOx/TiO2/Al heterostructure based on space-charge-limited conduction

    Get PDF
The reversible resistance switching (RS) effect of the Al/TiO x/TiO2/Al heterostructure is investigated in this study. This RS was attributed to space-charge-limited conduction (SCLC) as controlled by localized traps in the TiOx layer. The preexisting SCLC theory was extended to describe the abrupt resistance transition. An analytical model was developed with consideration of the ratio of free and trapped carrier density, which was extracted from the experimental data to show exponentially distributed traps in energy. The proposed model can be applicable to RS phenomena induced by interface-type traps in other material system.open231

Gas-Filled Phospholipid Nanoparticles Conjugated with Gadolinium Play a Role as a Potential Theragnostics for MR-Guided HIFU Ablation

To develop a long-circulating theragnostics, meaning therapeutics and diagnostics for MR-guided HIFU ablation, we designed and prepared Gd-C5F12-phospholipid nanobubbles (PLNs) 30โ€“100 nm in diameter. The biochemical and physical characterization of Gd-C5F12-PLNs were performed. Since Gd-C5F12-PLN-50 (ฮฆโ€Š=โ€Š50 nm) and Gd-C5F12-PLN-100 (ฮฆโ€Š=โ€Š100 nm) enhanced the hyperthermal effect of HIFU size- and concentration-dependently in a tissue-mimicking phantom, its circulation, distribution, tumor accumulation and tumor ablation were examined in tumor-bearing mice. The plasma-half life of Gd-C5F12-PLNs was longer than 1.5 hrs. Gd-C5F12-PLNs mainly accumulated in the liver and the spleen, suggesting that they are slowly secreted through the hepatobiliary pathway. Monitored by the T1 signal intensity of MR, Gd-C5F12-PLNs accumulated in tumor tissues for 8 hours in mice. HIFU with Gd-C5F12-PLN-100 showed the increased tumor ablation area as compared with HIFU alone. The results suggest that Gd-C5F12-PLNs exhibit a potential theragnostics for MR-guided HIFU ablation

Large Oncocytic Adrenocortical Tumor with Uncertain Malignant Potential

Oncocytoma is a neoplasm consisting of oncocytes that is found in the salivary gland, kidney, and thyroid. Adrenocortical oncocytoma is particularly uncommon, and most cases reported are benign and nonfunctioning. Here, we report a 20 cm adrenal mass associated with necrosis that was identified as an oncocytic adrenocortical tumor with uncertain malignant potential through histopathological evaluation after its resection

First Demonstration of Ultra-Thin SiGe-Channel Junctionless Accumulation-Mode (JAM) Bulk FinFETs on Si Substrate with PN Junction-Isolation Scheme

    Get PDF
A SiGe-channel junctionless-accumulation-mode (JAM) PMOS bulk FinFETs were successfully demonstrated on Si substrate with PN junction-isolation scheme for the first time. The JAM bulk FinFETs with fin width of 18 nm exhibits excellent subthreshold characteristics such as subthreshold swing of 64 mV/decade, drain-induced barrier lowering (DIBL) of 40 mV/V and high Ion/Ioff current ratio ( \u3e 1 x 105). The change of substrate bias from 0 to 5 V leads to the threshold voltage shift of 53 mV by modulating the effective channel thickness. When compared to the Si-channel bulk FinFETs with fin width of 18 nm, Si and SiGe channel devices exhibits comparable subthreshold swing and DIBL. For devices with longer fin width, SiGe channel devices exhibits much lower DIBL, indicating superior top-gate controllability and robustness to substrate bias compared to the Si channel devices. A zero temperature coefficient point was observed in the transfer curves as temperature increases from -120 to 120ยฐC, confirming that mobility degradation is dominantly affected by phonon scattering mechanism

OASIS: Online Application for the Survival Analysis of Lifespan Assays Performed in Aging Research

    Get PDF
Aging is a fundamental biological process. Characterization of genetic and environmental factors that influence lifespan is a crucial step toward understanding the mechanisms of aging at the organism level. To capture the different effects of genetic and environmental factors on lifespan, appropriate statistical analyses are needed. We developed an online application for survival analysis (OASIS) that helps conduct various novel statistical tasks involved in analyzing survival data in a user-friendly manner. OASIS provides standard survival analysis results including Kaplan-Meier estimates and mean/median survival time by taking censored survival data. OASIS also provides various statistical tests including comparison of mean survival time, overall survival curve, and survival rate at specific time point. To visualize survival data, OASIS generates survival and log cumulative hazard plots that enable researchers to easily interpret their experimental results. Furthermore, we provide statistical methods that can analyze variances among survival datasets. In addition, users can analyze proportional effects of risk factors on survival.OASIS provides a platform that is essential to facilitate efficient statistical analyses of survival data in the field of aging research.
