Past evacuation behavior and intended shelter selection of Japanese considering presence of foreign tourists
Due to the rapid growth, tourism in Japan has been receiving significant attention from the Japanese government and has been placed as a key policy. Japan is a country prone to several natural disasters like earthquake, typhoon, flood etc. In light of this vulnerability, the central government and local municipalities have worked towards evacuation planning to secure safety of foreign tourists. This study aims to develop suggestions for better regional tourism evacuation shelter planning targeting both Japanese and foreign tourists. The main research objectives are to understand 1) evacuation experience of Japanese during past disasters; 2) intended evacuation behaviour and preference of Japanese under Tokyo Metropolitan Earthquake scenario; and 3) impact of presence of foreign tourists on evacuation shelter choice of Japanese in case of an emergency. We conduct a local resident survey to identify the need of dedicated evacuation shelter planning as disaster preparedness for foreign tourists in Japan. End Proctoring
Catering Group Piano Curriculum for the Music Educators of the Next Generation
Advances in consumer technology have drastically changed the ways students access and appreciate music. As a result, teaching materials in group piano curriculum have become quickly outdated. Students no longer recognize folk tunes that have been sung or used for harmonization exercises; they prefer to listen and play music on their playlist stored in their mobile devices. Although pedagogical principles and objectives should persist over time, teaching methodologies and materials should continuously be updated to increase students’ engagement in learning. The newer generation of students favor classes that are more practical, satisfy their personal interests, and meet their degree program expectations.
Since education majors require keyboard proficiency, group piano programs play a critical role in their learning. Collegiate group piano classes can be a steppingstone for cultivating a wider range of audiences by utilizing instructional technology. Empowering these students with innovative keyboard skill curricula ultimately delivers positive results to the future generation. Integration of technology and innovative class projects help create engaging class sessions that actively draw learners’ participation, enable deeper learning, and gain strategies to apply in their future teaching career

Benefit Segmentation of US Pleasure Travellers to Hawaii
This study delineates the benefits sought by US pleasure travellers to Hawaii by using a factor- cluster market segmentation technique. Based on four benefit factors (knowledge/learning; relaxation; family/social bonding; and pleasure experience), cluster analysis was used to identify similar respondents based on the benefits that they sought. This study identified three distinct segments: active travellers, relaxation seekers, and traditional tourists. The following variables were shown to be statistically significant among the three segments: age; gender; education; occupation; marital status; ethnicity; household size; information sources; Web site visit behaviour; destination selection factors; appealing states; travel frequency to Hawaii; and activities enjoyed. The study discusses the distinctive and common characteristics of the three identified segments

Any Way You Slice It!! – An In-Depth Look at the Spa Travellers
The spa goer market has been the subject of several studies in the last seven years, largely because it is seen as a rapidly expanding and very profitable niche. Each of these studies defined the spa market somewhat differently, and while each study contributes to the overall knowledge of this market, they do not provide the industry with a comprehensive understanding. This study postulates that the spa goers who visit day spas while travelling are significantly different from those who visit a health and wellness spa and/or stayed at a spa resort. The data is drawn from the Travel Activitys and Motivation Survey (TAMS) and clearly shows original spa report, published by Lang Research Inc. (2007) is misleading in its profile of this market
After-School Childcare Arrangements and Maternal Labor Supply in Low-Income American Households: Comparisons between Race and Ethnicity
Even though after-school childcare arrangements are a significant matter for working mothers in the United States, only formal childcare has been recognized as relevant by researchers. Therefore, this study aims to find the association between different types of after-school childcare arrangements (after-school programs, relative, parental, self-care, and combination of care) and low-income working mothers’ labor supply, including their working hours and months, with special attention to their race/ethnicity. The study employed the Ordinary Least Squares regression analysis and utilized the National Household Education Survey Programs: After-School Programs and Activities (2005). The results showed that White and Hispanic mothers using relative care reported longer working hours than mothers of the same ethnic groups who used other types of care. Hispanic mothers using parental (spousal) care also reported fewer working months than Hispanic mothers using relative care. Implications for policy, social work practice, and research are discussed along with limitations, including the cross-sectional design of the study
Use of Monte Carlo Simulation for Analyzing Queues in a Financial Institution - A Case Study
Extensive queues are big issues for financial institutions and also for the customers. Because of this, the objective of this study is to analyze queues in a financial institution in its several sectors. Statistical modeling in Monte Carlo simulation using Microsoft Excel was applied to analyze the queues in different days of the week and in different situations that include general customer service, business customer service, and drive-through customer service. During the study, some issues were found due to the number of tellers who serve these queues but simple and appropriate solutions were proposed for providing good service to the customers and minimizing waiting time of the customers in the queue
