In the molecule of title compound, C13H11ClN2O3S, the aromatic rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 12.27 (3)°. An intramolecular O—H⋯N hydrogen bond results in the formation of a planar (mean deviation 0.0083 Å) six-membered ring, which is nearly coplanar with the adjacent ring at a dihedral angle of 2.36 (13)°. In the sulfonamide group, the S atom is 0.457 (3) Å from the plane through the O and N atoms. In the crystal structure, intermolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the molecules

Knowledge transfer: Benefits of playing MMORPGS towards enhancing IT managerial skills

    Get PDF
This study is concerned with the positive effects, learnability and real-life skill knowledge transfer of commercial off-the-shelf video games. While extensive studies being carried out in exploring skill transfer from virtual world to real world in domains such as education and healthcare, it is felt that further study is needed to explore if these skills can be applied towards enhancing IT managerial skills. The focus of this study is on Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs).MMORPGs are 3D online virtual worlds that allow players to interact with millions of other players through avatars. On the other hand, IT managerial skills definitions are determined by referencing the Skills Framework for Information Age (SFIA), a comprehensive ICT competency framework of nearly 100 IT professional skills. Thus this study is framed around answering the following question: What are the perceptions on the benefits of playing MMORPGs towards enhancing IT managerial skills

Biological Role of Anions (Sulfate, Nitrate , Oxalate and Acetate) on the Antibacterial Properties of Cobalt (II) and Nickel(II) Complexes With Pyrazinedicarboxaimide Derived, Furanyl and Thienyl Compounds

    Get PDF
A number of biologically active complexes of cobalt(II) and nickel(II) with pyrazinedicarboxaimido derived thienyl and furanyl compounds having the same metal ion but different anions such as sulphate, nitrate, oxalate and acetate have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of their physical, spectral and analytical data. In order to evaluate the role of anions on their antibacterial properties, these ligands and their synthesized metal complexes with various anions have been screened against bacterial species Escherichia coil,Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. The title studies have proved a definitive role of anions in increasing the antibacterial properties

In the title Schiff base, C8H8N4S, a condensation product of 5-methylthiophene-2-carboxaldehyde and 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole, the dihedral angle between the triazolyl and thienyl rings is 6.44 (14)°. The compound exists as a polymeric chain arising from intermolecular N—H⋯N bonding

Non-invasive single-bunch matching and emittance monitor

    Get PDF
On-line monitoring of beam quality for high brightness beams is only possible using non-invasive instruments. For matching measurements, very few such instruments are available. One candidate is a quadrupole pick-up. Therefore, a new type of quadrupole pick-up has been developed for the 26 GeV Proton Synchrotron (PS) at CERN, and a measurement system consisting of two such pick-ups is now installed in this accelerator. Using the information from these pick-ups, it is possible to determine both injection matching and emittance in the horizontal and vertical planes, for each bunch separately. This paper presents the measurement method and some of the results from the first year of use, as well as comparisons with other measurement methods.Comment: 10 pages, 10 figures; added figure, minor textual additions; To be resubmitted to Phys. Structural and Biological Behaviour of Co(II), Cu(II) and Ni(II) Metal Complexes of Some Amino Acid Derived Schiff-Bases

    Get PDF
Biologically active tridentate amino acid (Alanine, Glycine & Tyrosine) derived Schiff-bases and their Co(II), Cu(II) & Ni(II) complexes have been synthesised and characterised on the basis of their conductance and magnetic measurements, elemental analysis and 13C-NMR, 1H-NMR, IR and electronic spectral data. These Schiff-bases and their complexes have been evaluated for their antibacterial activity against bacterial species such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonae, Proteus vulgarus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and this activity data show the metal complexes to be more antibacterial than the Schiff-bases against one or more bacterial species

Synthesis, Characterization and Biological Properties of Anions of Bivalent Transition Metal [Co(II) and Ni(II)] Complexes With Acylhydrazine Derived ONO Donor Schiff Bases

    Get PDF
Some acylhydrazine derived ONO donor Schiff bases and their Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes have been prepared having the same metal ion (cation) but different anions. These synthesized metal(II) complexes have been characterized on the basis of their elemental analyses, magnetic moment, molar conductance, and IR and electronic spectral data. All of the Schiff base ligands function as tridentates and the deprotonated enolic form is preferred for coordination. In order to evaluate the effect of anions on the bactericidal activity, these synthesized complexes, in comparison to the uncomplexed Schiff bases have been screened against bacterial species., Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and the results are reported

Patterns of Antibiotic Resistance Among Group B Streptococcus Isolates: 2001–2004

    Get PDF
The objectives were to determine the prevalence of group B streptococcus (GBS) and to characterize antibiotic resistance patterns. All pregnant women presenting to the triage units at two urban hospitals during three intervals from 2001 to 2004 were included. Each interval lasted approximately four weeks. Swabs were inoculated into selective broth and cultured on tryptic soy agar with 5% sheep blood. GBS was identified using the StrepTex latex agglutination system. GBS positive cultures were tested for their resistance to ampicillin, erythromycin, clindamycin, and cefazolin. GBS was isolated from 154 (12.2%) of 1264 swabs collected during the study period. African-American women were more likely to be colonized with GBS than Caucasians and Hispanics. Resistance to routinely administered antibiotics was common, but there were no statistically significant increases in resistance to antibiotics over the study period. Ongoing surveillance of antibiotic resistance patterns is important in determining optimal prophylaxis and therapy

The New Digital-Receiver-Based System for Antiproton Beam Diagnostics

    Get PDF
An innovative system to measure antiproton beam intensity, momentum spread and mean momentum in CERN's Antiproton Decelerator (AD) is described. This system is based on a state-of-the-art Digital Receiver (DRX) board, consisting of 8 Digital Down-Converter (DDC) chips and one Digital Signal Processor (DSP). An ultra-low-noise, wide-band AC beam transformer (0.2 MHz - 30 MHz) is used to measure AC beam current modulation. For bunched beams, the intensity is obtained by measuring the amplitude of the fundamental and second RF Fourier components. On the magnetic plateaus the beam is debunched for stochastic or electron cooling and longitudinal beam properties (intensity, momentum spread and mean momentum) are measured by FFT-based spectral analysis of Schottky signals. The system thus provides real time information characterising the machine performance; it has been used for troubleshooting and to fine-tune the AD, thus achieving further improved performances. This system has been operating since May 2000 and typical results are presented

Acylhydrazine derived furanyl and thienyl Schiff bases and their Cu(II) complexes have been prepared and characterized on the basis of their physical, spectral and analytical data. The preferred enolic form of the Schiff base function as a tetradentate ligand during coordination to the metal ion yielding a square planar complex. The Schiff bases and their complexes with different anions were tested for their antibacterial activity against bacterial species such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa andKlebsiella pneumonae
