Future scenarios. The new life of the fashion industry in the post-pandemic scenario

    Get PDF
Worrying about the future means worrying about changes, both present and future environmental changes. But how will dramatic changes and consumer behaviour in a post-coronavirus world affect the future of fashion? What assets can design provide to rewire a system that has faltered so much? This essay aims to give meaning to the Covid-19 crisis by placing it precisely in the clothing indus- try context. It investigates the complex fashion system and the dynamics that are currently shaping this sector, catalysing it towards a sustainable new life. The paper also analyses future scenarios ex- isting in the fashion industry to define some guidelines for preferable post-pandemic future

La composizione familiare e lÂ’imposta sul reddito delle persone fisiche: unÂ’analisi degli effetti redistributivi e alcune considerazioni sul benessere sociale

The paper provides an evaluation of the redistribution effects stemming from the changes to the personal income tax introduced in the last decade. The analysis confirms that between 1989 and 2001 the net average tax rate increased for all taxpayers and, above all, for one-earner couples. The reason is twofold: a) the progressivity of the tax makes larger the burden on these households of changes in income brackets and tax rates; b) the absence of dependent relatives does not allow the compensation of higher taxes with increased tax credits. However, these higher taxes are associated with a distribution of the tax burden that favours low income households with a high number of components, thanks to changes in tax credits. Concerning welfare effects, the results of the analysis are controversial. The net income distribution in 2001 dominates in Lorenz sense that of 1989 if the entire population is considered, if one-earner or two-earner households are separately taken into account, if the population is decomposed on the basis of the number of components in the family. The generalised Lorenz curves show that all one-earner and two-earner households in the lowest part of the income distribution have benefited from the changes in Irpef. The sequential stochastic dominance allows verifying that social welfare has increased for all one-earner households but the singles and has diminished for two-earner households.imposta sul reddito personale, famiglie, distribuzione del reddito, effetti redistributivi, effetti sul benessere, dominanza stocastica

New insights into pathogenesis and treatment of anca-associated vasculitis. autoantibodies and beyond

    Get PDF
Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis is a group of rare systemic diseases affecting small-caliber vessels. The damage caused by AAV mainly involves the lung and kidneys. AAV includes three different types: granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA), microscopic polyangiitis (MPA), and eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA). Although the different phenotypic forms of AAV share common features, recent studies have shown that there are significant differences in terms of pathogenetic mechanisms involving both the adaptive and innate immune systems. Advances in our understanding of pathogenesis have enabled the development of immuno-targeted therapies. This review illustrates the characteristics of the various forms of AAV and the new therapies available for this disease that can have lethal consequences if left untreated

Data, Fashion System and Systemic Design approach: an information flow strategy to enhance sustainability

    Get PDF
Nowadays, the role played by the fashion industry in contributing to the degradation of natural systems is increasingly acknowledged. The impacts on the environment are mainly linked to the use of non-renewable raw materials, water pollution and waste generated. In addition to these socio-cultural implications deriving from the use of cheap labour and undignified working conditions resulted from ‘fast’ fashion business model, where economies of scale deliver standardised fashion at high volume and low price. According to Meadows (2008), the structure of information flows can be a useful leverage point in the fashion system, if the data is delivered where it was not before, causing people to change behaviour. Adding or restoring information, in a fashion system where the information circulating is sometimes not linked to ethical and social value, can, therefore, represent an effective intervention, usually more accessible and cheaper than reconstructing physical infrastructures. Data matched with a Systemic Innovation Design Methodology becomes a useful tool to analyse, organise and understand visually all the complexity of process, behaviour and pattern related to the fashion system. Mapping the entire lifecycle highlights that some data are not effectively harvested and appears the need of generating new asset of data collection able to bring the intangibility of shopping and consumption experience to the tangibility of dress and people, spreading the awareness of the entire process inside the system

Understanding fashion complexity through a systemic data approach

Nowadays, the role played by fashion industry in contributing to degradation of natural systems is increasingly acknowledged. Acting in terms of information flow from a systemic perspective does not represent a parametric adjustment, nor a reinforcement or a weakening of an existing cycle. It is the generation of a new cycle, that of information, in a place where it was not previously given, therefore inducing a different behavior in people. The structure of information flows can be an effective leverage point in the fashion system, if information is delivered where it was not before, causing people to change behavior. Adding or restoring information, in a fashion system where the information circulating is sometimes not linked to an ethical and social value, can therefore represent a powerful intervention, usually easier and cheaper than reconstructing physical infrastructures. The ambition of this paper is to offer a perspective that faces this complexity and align fashion with sustainability values through insights gained from data

Fashion Industry as a Big Data Enterprise for Sustainability

    Get PDF
Fashion has the power to tell over the years human stories and cultural changes: every day through clothes we can communicate who we are and who we want to be.This research aims to explore this sector as a complex system trying to understand the relationship between places, purchase and actors involved. Starting from data analysis and exploration by industries, brands, territories and consumers, this contribution shows how a big data-oriented culture can be useful to design new products, services and process with a new perspective throwing the bases for an innovative and sustainable fashion industry

Problematic Internet Use in early adolescence: The role of attachment and negative beliefs about worry

AbstractBackground and aimsProblematic Internet Use (PIU) might be a potential mental health problem. Few studies have investigated the relative contribution of individual and family factors in the development of PIU in early adolescence. The aim of the current study was to model the relationship between attachment styles, negative beliefs about worry, and PIU in early adolescence.MethodsFive hundred and thirty-eight Italian early adolescents (51% females, M age = 12.7 years, SD = 0.87) were included in this study. The pattern of relationships specified by the theoretical model was examined through path analysis.ResultsResults showed that avoidance (mother) and anxiety (father) were directly associated with PIU. Anxiety (mother) and avoidance (father) were indirectly associated with PIU via negative beliefs about worry.Discussion and conclusionsOverall, our findings show that attachment toward mother and father are differently linked to PIU and that negative beliefs about worry may play a mediating role in the association between attachment and PIU. Findings are discussed within clinical and preventive implications
