    Privacy preserving path recommendation for moving user on location based service

    With the increasing adoption of location based services, privacy is becoming a major concern. To hide the identity and location of a request on location based service, most methods consider a set of users in a reasonable region so as to confuse their requests. When there are not enough users, the cloaking region needs expanding to a larger area or the response needs delay. Either way degrades the quality-of-service. In this paper, we tackle the privacy problem in a predication way by recommending a privacy-preserving path for a requester. We consider the popular navigation application, where users may continuously query different location based servers during their movements. Based on a set of metrics on privacy, distance and the quality of services that a LBS requester often desires, a secure path is computed for each request according to user's preference, and can be dynamically adjusted when the situation is changed. A set of experiments are performed to verify our method and the relationship between parameters are discussed in details. We also discuss how to apply our method into practical applications. © 2013 IEEE.published_or_final_versio

    Chlorophyll is a green photosynthetic pigment, and photosynthesis drives the global carbon cycle. The reduction of protochlorophyllide (Pchlide) to chlorophyllide (Chlide) in the penultimate stage of biosynthesis of chlorophyll (Chl) is catalyzed by light-independent protochlorophyllide reducatse (DPOR), and the light-dependent protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase (LPOR). The search was done to all manuscript sections according to terms chlorophyll, a light-dependent protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase, ATP-dependent dark operative protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase, chlorophyll, photosynthesis and chlorophyllide.     The Primal–Dual Hybrid Gradient (PDHG) algorithm is a powerful algorithm used quite frequently in recent years for solving saddle-point optimization problems. The classical application considers convex functions, and it is well studied in literature. In this paper, we consider the convergence of an alternative formulation of the PDHG algorithm in the nonconvex case under the precompact assumption.     Pricing and low-carbon investment decisions in an emission dependent supply chain under a carbon labelling scheme

    A low-carbon policy attracts the interests of businesses, consumers, and policy makers. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how a carbon labelling scheme could be integrated into operational decision-making for manufacturers and retailers. Three game theoretic models of a supply chain with one manufacturer and one retailer are built to investigate a manufacturer and retailer’s pricing and investment decision for products with different initial carbon footprints considering consumer environmental awareness. Through a systematic comparison and numerical analysis, the results show that a carbon labelling scheme can significantly reduce the overall carbon emission supply chain and have an initially negative impact on the manufacturer and retailer’s profits. However, in the medium–long run, manufacturers and retailers could yet achieve profitability through continuously investing in low-carbon technology

    Radiation emission from wrinkled SiGe/SiGe nanostructure

    Semiconductor optical emitters radiate light via band-to-band optical transitions. Here, a different mechanism of radiation emission, which is not related to the energy band of the materials, is proposed. In the case of carriers traveling along a sinusoidal trajectory through a wrinkled nanostructure, radiation was emitted via changes in their velocity in a manner analogous to synchrotron radiation. The radiated frequency of wrinkled SiGe/SiGe nanostructure was found to cover a wide spectrum with radiation power levels of the order of submilliwatts. Thus, this nanostructure can be used as a Si-based optical emitter and it will enable the integration of optoelectronic devices on a wafer
