The Fallacy of Nuclear Primacy
"The United States is easily deterred by any nuclear armed state, even by the most primitive and diminutive of nuclear arsenals." Bruce G. Blair is the President of the World Security Institute. Chen Yali is the editor in chief of Washington Observer
Poisson approximation of the length spectrum of random surfaces
Multivariate Poisson approximation of the length spectrum of random surfaces
is studied by means of the Chen-Stein method. This approach delivers simple and
explicit error bounds in Poisson limit theorems. They are used to prove that
Poisson approximation applies to curves of length up to order
with being the genus of the surface.Comment: 22 pages, 2 figures. To appear in Indiana Univ. Math.
Property A and the operator norm localization property for discrete metric spaces
We study property A defined by G. Yu and the operator norm localization
property defined by X. Chen, R. Tessera, X. Wang, and G. Yu. These are coarse
geometric properties for metric spaces which have applications to operator
K-theory. It is proved that the two properties are equivalent for discrete
metric spaces with bounded geometry.Comment: 10 pages. In this revised version, we make comments on two other
coarse geometric properties defined by Brodzki, Niblo, Spakula, Willett, and

Improved Chen-Ricci inequality for curvature-like tensors and its applications
We present Chen-Ricci inequality and improved Chen-Ricci inequality for
curvature like tensors. Applying our improved Chen-Ricci inequality we study
Lagrangian and Kaehlerian slant submanifolds of complex space forms and
C-totally real submanifolds of Sasakian space forms
