    Estimation of optical power and heat-dissipation coefficient for the photo-electro-thermal theory for LED systems

    With the use of wall-plug efficiency, estimation techniques for the optical power and heat-dissipation coefficient of LEDs are introduced in this paper to enrich the photo-electro-thermal theory, which has provided a framework for analyzing LED systems. The estimation methods consist of simple procedures for optical and electrical power measurements, which are easy for LED device manufacturers and system designers to follow. The extended theory has been tested with several types of LED devices, with reasonably good agreements between theoretical and practical results. © 2011 IEEE.published_or_final_versio

    Hydrostatic pressure induced Dirac semimetal in black phosphorus

    Motivated by recent experimental observation of an hydrostatic pressure induced transition from semiconductor to semimetal in black phosphorus [Chen et al. in arXiv:1504.00125], we present the first principles calculation on the pressure effect of the electronic structures of black phosphorus. It is found that the band crossover and reversal at the Z point occur around the critical pressure Pc1=1.23 Gpa, and the band inversion evolves into 4 twofold-degenerate Dirac cones around the Z point, suggesting a 3D Dirac semimetal. With further increasing pressure the Dirac cones in the Gamma-Z line move toward the Gamma point and evolve into two hole-type Fermi pockets, and those in the Z-M lines move toward the M point and evolve into 2 hole-type Fermi pockets up to P=4.0 Gpa. It demonstrates clearly that the Lifshitz transition occurs at Pc1P_{c1} from semiconductor to 3D Dirac semimetal protected by the nonsymmorphic space symmetry of bulk. This suggests the bright perspective of black phosphorus for optoelectronic and electronic devices due to its easy modulation by pressure.Comment: 7 pages, 9 figures, and 2 table

    Stabilized conforming nodal integration: Exactness and variational justification

    In most Galerkin mesh-free methods, background integration cells partitioning the problem domain are required to evaluate the weak form. It is therefore worthwhile to consider these methods using the notions of domain decomposition with the integration cells being the subdomains. Presuming that the analytical solution is admissible in the trial solution, domain and boundary integration exactness, which depend on the orders of the employed trial solution and the required solution exactness, are identified for the strict satisfaction of traction reciprocity and natural boundary condition in the weak form. Unfortunately, trial solutions constructed by many mesh-free approximants contain non-polynomial terms which cannot be exactly integrated by Gaussian quadratures. Recently, stabilized conforming (SC) nodal integration for Galerkin mesh-free methods was proposed and illustrated to be linearly exact. This paper will discuss how linear exactness is ensured and how spurious oscillation encountered by direct nodal integration is suppressed in SC nodal integration from a domain decomposition point of view. Moreover, it will be shown that SC nodal integration can be formulated by the Hellinger-Reissner Principle and thus justified in the classical variational sense.     High-level expression, purification, polyclonal antibody preparation against recombinant OprD from Pseudomonas aeruginosa

    OprD is a specific porin which can binds imipenem and carbapenems in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. OprD loss plays a central role in mediating carbapenem resistance. Therefore, purification of oprD protein lays a pavement for the study in vivo and in vitro. In our study, the oprD gene was cloned into pQE30 expression vector, in frame with a sequence coding an N-terminal hexahistidine tag to allow purification by Ni2+ column. The recombinant OprD-6His was overproduced in inclusion form in Escherichia coli M15. OprD-6His was purified under denatured conditions using Ni-NTA conjugates. Antiserum against this recombinant OprD-6His protein was prepared in rabbit. Western blot analysis and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were carried out to identify the reaction abilities and sensitivity of anti-OprD-6His polyclonal antibody to purified OprD-6His. Our results indicated that it was induction of E. coli M15 cells with 0.5 mM of isopropylthio-d-galactoside (IPTG) at 33°C for 4 h that the predicted 48 kDa OprD-6His fusion protein was expressed as the form of inclusion bodies with about 55-65 mg of OprD-6His per liter of culture. Western blot showed that recombinant OprD-6His protein could be identified by self-developed  anti-OprD-6His polyclonal antibody. Anti-OprD-6His polyclonal antibody was detectable with 1000 times dilution of the original polyclonal antibody solution. In conclusion, higher level expression of OprD was available in the pQE30 expression system at optimal condition. Self-prepared polyclone antibody can effectively detect difference of porin expression in P. aeruginosa with higher sensitivity and specificity.Key words: Pseudomonas aeroginosa; OprD; polyclonal antibody

    河北汉诺坝玄武岩中长英质麻粒岩、镁铁质麻粒岩和辉石岩捕虏体的主量元素和微量元素特征, 反映了下地壳及壳鳗过渡带组成具有高度化学不均一性。不相容元素原始地慢标准化曲线特征的差异表明捕虏体成因复杂。MgO 与不相容元素无或仅有很弱的相关性, 与相容元素的相关性则相对较明显。这些特征反映了下地壳及壳慢过渡带存在较强和多元的混合作用。捕虏体的加权平均值比基于麻粒岩地体资料估算的下地壳平均组成偏基性, 揭示了二者可能的成因差异。The major and trace element data of granulite and pyroxenite xenoliths, which are entrained in Hannuoba basalt Hebei Province, North China, suggest the highly chemical heterogeneity in the lower crust and crust-mantle transitional zone. There is no or only POor linear correlation between MgO and incompatible elements. Whereas a bit remarked correlations are observed between MgO and most compatible elements.The geochemical characteristics suggest that the strong and multiple mixing processes may have Occurred universally both in the lower crust and crust-mantle transitional zone. The weighed average composition of xenoliths shows a more mafic composition of the lower crust than that estimated from granulite data, which may imply the difference in the genesis.published_or_final_versio

    Sr, Nd Pb isotopic characteristics of granulite and pyroxenite xenoliths in Hannuoba basalts, Hebei Province, and their implications for geologic processes

    Rb-Sr, Sm-Nd and Pb isotopic systematics are reported for granulite and pyroxenite xenoliths in Hannuoba basalts, Hebei Province. The isotopic characteristics of xenoliths suggest t hat they might have formed recently , although there is no strict constraint on the precise age. The decoupling of low Rb/Sr and high [87]Sr/[86]Sr ratios implies the multi-stage evolution history and strong mixing processes. There are close ties between granulite and pyroxenites with different mineral assemblages on the Sr-Nd, Pb-Sr and Pb-Nd correlation figures. The granulite is the common end-member o f the three kinds o f pyroxenite.
