Impact of Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) Characteristics on Prognosis of Pediatric RMS: a SEER Database Large Population Study
To provide a better insight into the epidemiology, characteristics, therapeutics, and outcomes of pediatric RMS. Data of 1,623 pediatric RMS were acquired from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database. Detailed information on demographics, primary site, size, subtype, stage, surgery, and survival had been recorded during 1975-2016. The most common subtype was embryonal RMS (64.9%) followed by alveolar RMS (29.9%). Additionally, the majority of RMS size was larger than 5 cm. Multivariable analysis exhibited that the age over 10, unfavorable primary site, distant metastasis was respectively correlated with the poor OS, whereas surgery could improve the outcomes of pediatric RMS. In conclusion, our large population-based analysis described that age, subtype, primary tumor sites, stage and surgery are all independent prognosis factors for RMS
Axial Compressive Behavior of Square Ice Filled Steel Tubular Stub Columns
Concrete has many limitations in the building construction in cold areas. However, there is abundant ice in those regions. Therefore, using ice as a substitute for concrete has been explored by researchers. Inspired by the idea of square concrete filled steel tube (CFT), a new column form termed square ice filled steel tubular (IFT) column is proposed in this study. It consists of a square outer steel tube with the inner space filled with ice. A total of eighteen stub columns were made and tested under axial compression, including three circular plain ice specimens, nine square IFT specimens and six hollow square steel tubes, to demonstrate the advantages of the composite column. The width-to-thickness (B/t) ratio of the steel tubes varies from 39.5 to 77. The test results confirmed that the ice core is effectively confined by the steel tube, and the inward local buckling of the steel tube is suppressed by the inner ice, leading to higher strength and better ductility of the square IFT specimens compared with hollow steel tubes and plain ice columns. A simplified axial bearing capacity equation for square IFT stub columns is proposed and it provides reasonable and accurate predictions of the test results
Antioxidation activity and total phenolic contents of various Toona sinensis extracts
Products Processing Division, LRI, COA, Tainan, Taiwan. Accepted 1 August, 2012 The purpose of this study was to analyze the antioxidation activities and total phenolic contents of Toona sinensis. An extractive method of the antioxidant activities of local T. sinensis leaf extracts and various antioxidation models were analyzed. The effects of various solvent concentrations to extract the T. sinensis leaf on the antioxidation activity were compared. The results showed that the T. sinensis leaf extracts of various solvent concentrations had good antioxidant activities. The chelating abilities of ferrous ion in the T. sinensis leaf extracts obtained from various solvent concentrations were above 80%. It is concluded that T. sinensis leaf extracts could be used as biopreservatives of food products. The total antioxidant activities, chelating abilities of ferrous ions and reducing capacities of the T. sinensis leaf extracts might provide a substitute for a natural antioxidant. Keywords: Antioxidative activity, bio-preservatives, extracts, Toona sinensi
AI-Generated Content (AIGC): A Survey
To address the challenges of digital intelligence in the digital economy,
artificial intelligence-generated content (AIGC) has emerged. AIGC uses
artificial intelligence to assist or replace manual content generation by
generating content based on user-inputted keywords or requirements. The
development of large model algorithms has significantly strengthened the
capabilities of AIGC, which makes AIGC products a promising generative tool and
adds convenience to our lives. As an upstream technology, AIGC has unlimited
potential to support different downstream applications. It is important to
analyze AIGC's current capabilities and shortcomings to understand how it can
be best utilized in future applications. Therefore, this paper provides an
extensive overview of AIGC, covering its definition, essential conditions,
cutting-edge capabilities, and advanced features. Moreover, it discusses the
benefits of large-scale pre-trained models and the industrial chain of AIGC.
Furthermore, the article explores the distinctions between auxiliary generation
and automatic generation within AIGC, providing examples of text generation.
The paper also examines the potential integration of AIGC with the Metaverse.
Lastly, the article highlights existing issues and suggests some future
directions for application.Comment: Preprint. 14 figures, 4 table
