    Formation of low temperature silicon dioxide films using chemical vapor deposition

    Low Temperature Oxide (LTO) thin films were prepared using a Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition process. The process was characterized by applying traditional statistical studies and response surface technique. The uniformities within wafer and from wafer to wafer were examined by determining the mean and the standard deviation of films thicknesses. Response surface methodology was employed to determine the optimum process conditions. Time, temperature and gas flow ratio were used as the experimental factors. Index of refraction and deposition rate were used as the experimental responses. Additionally, etch rate, density, dielectric constant and infrared (IR) spectra were found for the silicon dioxide films prepared at the determined optimum condition. The IR spectra were obtained by employing Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The average deposition rate was found to be 46 A per minute and the average index of refraction was 1.44. The calculated density, activation energy, etch rate, dielectric constant and dielectric strength agreed with reported values. A double metal test run was performed using LTO oxide. The results indicated that the recommended baseline LTO process is suitable for multilayer metallization processes

    System quality, user satisfaction, and perceived net benefits of mobile broadband services

    The continued decline of voice revenues is pushing mobile operators in Taiwan turn into data and content services for exploring new revenue opportunities and raising ARPU. This study aims to discuss the critical determinants of the internet user's adoption of 3.5G mobile broadband services in Taiwan. The theoretical framework employed in the study is Information System Success Model (DeLone & McLean, 2003; Chae et al.,2002), which is operationally defined with mobile web-services measurement scales. The study attempts to identify how the system quality of 3.5G mobile broadband services affects the customer satisfaction and their perceived net benefit. With the affordable mobile broadband connectivity, 3.5 G access or HSDPA in Taiwan has played a major role in the burgeoning mobile Internet market. HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) could be viewed as an advanced version of WCDMA wireless network. HSDPA ideally provides mobile data services up to 14.4 Mbps for the downlinks and up to 5.8 Mbps for the uplinks. According to TWNIC, the number of cell phone subscribers in Taiwan has grown up to 23 million by March 2009 with a 100% penetration rate Yet, among cell phone subscribers there were only 1.6 million users adopting mobile broadband services. --Mobile Broadband Services,IS Success Model,Customer Satisfaction,Net Benefits

    Urban density for a carbon free city in different climates

    [EN] In a carbon free city, the energy demand, including thermal energy (heating, cooling and hot water), power (ventilation and artificial light) in buildings and transport, need to be covered by the renewables gained on site or in the surrounding area outside of the town. This means a huge compensating area is required for harvesting renewable energy. This paper aims to explore the urban density that could potentially achieve the balance among three requirements: energy saving, land saving, and human scale. By holding constant of building type, estate size, thermal energy system, power harvesting system, lighting system and traffic energy (electric car), different scenarios of urban density in various climate zones were compared. The results show that, although increasing urban density by increasing number of storey does reduce transportation energy consumption, the rate of decreased transportation energy consumption slows down as the number of storey increases. Also, artificial light will reach saturation (100% of hours of use) with increased number of storeys and, therefore, increase building energy consumption. For cold or moderate climates, the optimal scenario would be 4 to 6 storeys with street width of 25m. For the hot and humid climates, the optimal choice would be 6 to 8 storeys and the effect of urban density on the land-use requirement is larger than the effect of compensating area because heating is power-based. These optimal ranges of number of storey provide good daylight access and also fall into the range of human scale.Dietrich, U.; Chen, H. (2018).     Design of a 4-Bit Microprocessor

    A four bit microprocessor’s layout was drawn on an Apollo workstation using MOSIS two lambda design rules. The layout’s operation was verified by breadboarding with 74’00 HCMOS logic parts during Spring Quarter 1990 by Theodore D’Antonoli. Based on his findings, the layout was revised and several design changes were added. At the same time, a software simulation program (uPROSIM) for the processor was written in FORTRAN on the RIT VMS Computer System

    A Study of Mazuism Religious Tourism in Taiwan: an Example of Dajia Jenn Lann Temple

    Although the study of Mazuism has been popular among scholars, few have attempted to touch upon its religious tourist behaviour; however, as the purpose of their travel is to worship at the Mazu Temple, it is thus, a tourism destination. Therefore, from the perspective of religious sustainable operation, it is important to understand the tourist behavior patterns of religious tourists visiting Mazu Temple. The purpose of this study is to analyze the interrelationships between destination image, service quality, perceived value, satisfaction, and behavioural intention. This study is conducted with convenience sampling methods for tourists visiting Jenn Lann Temple in Dajia, Taichung, Taiwan, and a total of 408 valid questionnaires are obtained. The valid questionnaires collected in this study are statistically analysed using descriptive statistics and PLS. The results show that destination image, service quality, perceived value, and satisfaction have positive impacts on tourists’ behavioural intention. According to the results of the above analysis, this study constructs a religious tourism behaviour model of Mazu believers and gives management advice to the Mazu Temple

    This article examines how technology may be used continuously in organizations. Particularly, it investigates the organizing practices that support continuous technology-use. Exploring such organizing practices is meaningful because they could sustain ongoing organizational innovation. A field study on the enterprise application of e-auction (electronic auction, or otherwise known as online reverse auction and electronic bidding) is used to illustrate how a marketplace is effectively maintained over a span of seven years. Our findings identify a set of market-making practices and its principles that underscore sustained use of e-auction. This research contributes to literature on technology-use and adoption, as well as adds to studies on the electronic marketplace. It also offers practical lessons to implementers who seek to adopt the e-auction to achieve significant cost-savings and streamline the supply chain

    A Study on the Management Effectiveness and Problems of Tribal Colleges in Taiwan

    The main purpose of this study is to analyze the development background and objectives of indigenous tribal colleges, and to understand the effectiveness and problems of its management in Taiwan. After SWOT analysis, the main findings are as follows: 1. Advantages: the unique culture of indigenous people is an opportunity for economic development. In addition, the protection of laws and regulations is the main advantage of tribal college. 2. Weakness: under the current economic system, the indigenous people are limited in land use, inconvenient transportation, inadequate agricultural technology, and unsmooth sales channels, which limit their economic development. 3. Threats: because the population flows to the city, the tribal people do not understand what kind of institution the tribal university is, and some of the funds have to be paid by the learners themselves, resulting in the low participation of the tribal people. Moreover, the units that handle tribal college are almost different every year, which affects the preservation of data. 4. Opportunities: the existence of tribal college also provides an opportunity for the inheritance and reconstruction of indigenous culture.     Artificial Intelligence and Visual Analytics: A Deep-Learning Approach to Analyze Hotel Reviews & Responses

    With a growing number of online reviews, consumers often rely on these reviews to make purchase decisions. However, little is known about managerial responses to online hotel reviews. This paper reports on a framework to integrate visual analytics and machine learning techniques to investigate whether hotel managers respond to positive and negative reviews differently and how to use a deep-learning approach to prioritize responses. In this study, forty 4- and 5-star hotels in London with 91,051 reviews and 70,397 responses were collected and analyzed. Visual analyses and machine learning were conducted. The results indicate most hotels (72.5%) showing no preference to respond to positive and negative reviews. Our proposed deep-learning approach outperformed existing algorithms to prioritize responses
