Openness to experience as mediator of the relationship between product creativity and purchase intention
Although past studies have found a positive relationship between product creativity and purchase in-tention, little is known about the underlying process behind this relationship. The present study ad-dressed this gap by examining the role of openness to experience in the relationship between product creativity and purchase intention. Participants (88 undergraduate students) evaluated creativity of a self-nominated product and reported the extent to which they are willing to buy the product, as well as their openness to experience. Analysis showed that there was a positive relationship between product creativity and openness to experience and these two variables were significantly correlated with pur-chase intention. Furthermore, mediation analysis supported that product creativity increases purchase intension indirectly through openness to experience. The findings shed light on the mechanism of how product creativity increases purchase intention and serve as an evidence for future studies to investigate how and what aspects of product creativity that enhance individual’s sense of openness and purchase intention

Developing 21st Century Teachers as a Knowledge Builder
The capacity to engage in deep discussion about knowledge should be an expected outcome of all university graduates. This paper describes an attempt to develop teachers as a knowledge builder through a master’s level course. Based on the socio-cognitive determinants of knowledge building proposed by Scardamalia and Bereiter, I identified and applied instructional tactics that could help foster knowledge building behaviors among the participants. These tactics include case study, reciprocal teaching, online discussion, and working on a consequential task. The participants consisted of 11 teachers aged between 27 to 50 years old. They actively contributed to the online forum by frequently querying, clarifying, adding and revising their notes. They led group discussions in class and introduced additional reference materials to their classmates. In short, the participants demonstrated high degree of epistemic agency by taking ownership of their learning and contributing to deep understanding of theories related to knowledge building
COMIC: Towards A Compact Image Captioning Model with Attention
Recent works in image captioning have shown very promising raw performance.
However, we realize that most of these encoder-decoder style networks with
attention do not scale naturally to large vocabulary size, making them
difficult to be deployed on embedded system with limited hardware resources.
This is because the size of word and output embedding matrices grow
proportionally with the size of vocabulary, adversely affecting the compactness
of these networks. To address this limitation, this paper introduces a brand
new idea in the domain of image captioning. That is, we tackle the problem of
compactness of image captioning models which is hitherto unexplored. We showed
that, our proposed model, named COMIC for COMpact Image Captioning, achieves
comparable results in five common evaluation metrics with state-of-the-art
approaches on both MS-COCO and InstaPIC-1.1M datasets despite having an
embedding vocabulary size that is 39x - 99x smaller. The source code and models

School technology leadership: Lessons from empirical research
While research has found that technology leadership is an important factor for effective integration of technology in schools, there is a paucity of research on technology leadership in schools. This paper reviewed 12 empirical reports on technology leadership and a grounded theory approach was used to derive the key findings. Several roles of technology leaders were identified, which are categorized into four main areas of change: infrastructure, organization structure and policy, pedagogy and learning, and school culture. The corresponding competencies of school technology leaders were identified. Several relationships were established between technology leadership and other factors: School technology leadership is a strong predictor on the level of technology use in schools; the cultural and structural characteristics of schools could affect the level of computer use in classrooms; transformational leadership is correlated with a principal's ICT competencies. Researchers have also started to explore the views of followers and the recursive relationships between the leader and the followers. Based on the review, recommendations for future research are discussed
Creative people tend to tell lies, especially in enriched environment
Is dishonesty affected by one’s creativity and environment? Recent studies have documented the effects of creativity and environment on dishonesty respectively. However, little attention has been given to the interaction effect of creativity and environment. Based on past findings, we hypothesized that creative people, compared to their non-creative counterparts, may tell more lies in an enriched (vs. scarce) environment. An experiment was conducted on a sample of 97 undergraduate students to examine the moderation effect of environment on the linkage of creativity and cheating. Participants completed a creativity task and a questionnaire on general knowledge about Malaysia. Two-way ANOVA analysis showed that creative participants, as well as those in the enriched environment, were more likely to tell lies than their counterparts. More importantly, the interaction effect of creativity and environment was statistically significant. Specifically, the creative people were more likely to cheat in the enriched envi-ronment than in the scarce environment. The results not only shed light on the link between creativity and dishonesty but also suggest a new direction for minimizing dishonesty behaviours
Structure of The Sibling Inventory of Differential Experience-Chinese Version (SIDE-C): a bifactor model approach
The Sibling Inventory of Differential Experience (SIDE; Daniels & Plomin, 1985) is a self-report to assess children’s perception of parental differential treatment (PDT). Specifically, SIDE measures two specific constructs of PDT: control and affection. The present study applied both the traditional (two-correlated-factor model) and novel (bifactor) modeling approaches to derive the most optimal measure-ment structure of the Chinese version of SIDE (SIDE-C). Respondents were 225 primary school stu-dents who have only one sibling in the family. Results showed that, while the two-correlated-factor model was acceptable, the bifactor model had a better fit. The bifactor model is preferable in terms of fit indices and the principle of parsimony. Additionally, Omega hierarchical coefficient supported the strength of the general factor over the specific factors of parental differential treatment. The findings not only shed light on the factorial validity of the SIDE-C but also suggest future studies to consider the roles of the general and specific factors of PDT
