    Improved K-means clustering on Hadoop

    Get PDF
Clustering is the portioning method in which we grouped similar attribute items. Recently data grows rapidly so data analysis using clustering getting difficult. K-means is traditional clustering method. K-means is easy to implement and scalable but it suffers from local minima and sensitive to initial cluster centroids. Particle swarm optimization is mimic behavior based clustering algorithm based on particleā€™s velocity but it suffers from number of iterations. So we use PSO for finding initial cluster center and then use this centroids for K-means clustering which is running parallel on Hadoop. Hadoop is used for large database. We try to find global clusters in limited iterations

Difficulty in passing urine, associated with pain is termed as Mutrakruchha. According to Ayurvedic literature, Mutrakruchha has been classified as 8 types by Charak as well as Sushrut. The classification is made according to Doshas The term Mutrakrichha comes under the disorders of Mutravaha Srotas, description of this disease is mentioned in almost all classical texts which reflects its prevalence in ancient period. It is a disease involving Basti Marma. As Basti is one among the Trimarma (main three vital organs), it has great therapeutic importance. Acharyas has mentioned and elaborately explained the Mutrakriccha and its type in comprehensive manner. As manifestation of Mutrakriccha and lower urinary tract infection are similar, an attempt has been made in this article to understand the concept of Lower urinary tract infection in Ayurveda with comparison to Modern concept

Analysis of Scholarly Communication on Phonology during 2000 - 2017: A Scientometric Study

The study is aimed to find out the authorship pattern and the collaboration trends in the field of phonology. In the study, Collaborative index, Degree of collaboration, Collaborative Coefficient, Relative growth rate and Doubling time these Scientometric indicators were used. The study found that the Degree of Collaboration is 0.5 which reveals the average relationship between singled authored papers and muli-authored papers. Collaboration Coefficient and Modified Collaboration Coefficient is less than 0.5, it means there were fewer trends of authors collaboration. But the study found slight growth from 1013 to 2015 and again decreased. As per the study Goswami, U was the first ranked author, Lingua was the first ranked journal and USA was the first ranked Country between 2000 and 2017

Ayurveda gives guidelines to treat this confidently and increase quality of life of an individual. There are different modalities for management of Mootrakruchra. Nephrolithiasis or kidney disease is a global disease. It is a common painful and costly condition. A stone may form due to crystallization of lithogenic factors in the upper urinary tract, it can subsequently move into the ureter and cause renal colic. In ancient text of Ayurveda, Renal Calculi, Ureteric calculi, Vesical calculi have been mentioned categorically as under the topic Mutrakruchha, which has been classified 8 types according to their cause and symptoms and for each type separate ayurvedic drugs has been mentioned. In this case of Ashmari Janya Mutrakruccha, Haritakyadi Kwath was used for 15 days and the results were very satisfying and encouraging

Recent Advancement in Physico-Mechanical and Thermal Studies of Bamboo and Its Fibers

    Get PDF
Bamboo has its own role in the development of society. It is widely used as a support tools for sustainable farming and being exceptional resource for variety of income and employment-generating systems. This overlooked biomass provides food, raw material, shelter, medicine for large part of worldā€™s population. Bamboo has given a great support to mankind by providing building materials that are extensively used for household products. It has found a good place for industrial applications due to advances in processing technology and increased market demand. Numerous fundamental studies were carried out to highlight their fundamental characteristics prior to industrial exploitation or high end bamboo-based biomaterials. The mechanical and physical properties of bamboo have noteworthy effects on their durability and strength. Thermogravimetry is one of the key sensitive technique that characterizes the mechanical responses of materials by monitoring property changes with respect to the temperature. Comprehensive review and study on thermal analysis are useful for quantitative determination of the degradation behaviour and the composition of the material. The magnitude and location of the derivative thermogravimetric curve also provides information of the interaction between the material components at various temperature scales. Therefore, these studies can be focused to evaluate the basic fundamental problems faced and thus, a well-designed research and development towards sustainability can be achieved

Utility of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography in presurgical evaluation of patients with epilepsy: A multicenter study

OBJECTIVE: 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) is widely used in presurgical assessment in patients with drug-resistant focal epilepsy (DRE) if magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and scalp electroencephalography (EEG) do not localize the seizure onset zone or are discordant. METHODS: In this multicenter, retrospective observational cohort study, we included consecutive patients with DRE who had undergone FDG-PET as part of their presurgical workup. We assessed the utility of FDG-PET, which was defined as contributing to the decision-making process to refer for resection or intracranial EEG (iEEG) or to conclude surgery was not feasible. RESULTS: We included 951 patients in this study; 479Ā had temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), 219 extratemporal epilepsy (ETLE), and 253 epilepsy of uncertain lobar origin. FDG-PET showed a distinct hypometabolism in 62% and was concordant with ictal EEG in 74% in TLE and in 56% in ETLE (pĀ <Ā .001). FDG-PET was useful in presurgical decision-making in 396 patients (47%) and most beneficial in TLE compared to ETLE (58% vs. 44%, pĀ =Ā .001). Overall, FDG-PET contributed to recommending resection in 78 cases (20%) and iEEG in 187 cases (47%); in 131 patients (33%), FDG-PET resulted in a conclusion that resection was not feasible. In TLE, seizure-freedom 1Ā year after surgery did not differ significantly (pĀ =Ā .48) between patients with negative MRI and EEG-PET concordance (nĀ =Ā 30, 65%) and those with positive MRI and concordant EEG (nĀ =Ā 46, 68%). In ETLE, half of patients with negative MRI and EEG-PET concordance and three quarters with positive MRI and concordant EEG were seizure-free postsurgery (nĀ =Ā 5 vs. nĀ =Ā 6, pĀ =Ā .28). SIGNIFICANCE: This is the largest reported cohort of patients with DRE who received presurgical FDG-PET, showing that FDG-PET is a useful diagnostic tool. MRI-negative and MRI-positive cases with concordant FDG-PET results (with either EEG or MRI) had a comparable outcome after surgery. These findings confirm the significance of FDG-PET in presurgical epilepsy diagnostics

Synergistic effect of oil palm based pozzolanic materials/oil palm waste on polyester hybrid composite

    Get PDF
This research work aims to investigate the synergistic effect of pozzolanic materials such as oil palm ash (OPA) and oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) on the developed hybrid polymer composites. The OPEFB and OPA fillers of different particle sizes (250, 150, and 75 Āµm) were mixed at OPEFB:OPA ratios of (0:100; 20:80; 40:60; 60:40; 80:20 and 100:0) and incorporated into an unsaturated polyester resin. Furthermore, both mechanical and morphological properties of the composites were analyzed and it was found that tensile, flexural, and impact properties were significantly improved at OPEFB:OPA of 75 Āµm particle size hybridization of the polymer. The increase of OPEFB to OPA filler ratio up to 80:20 significantly improved the tensile properties of the composites while 40:60 ratio of 75 Āµm gave the optimum filler ratio to obtain the highest flexural and impact properties of the composites among all studied samples. Scanning electron micrograph images showed strong particle dispersion of the embedded fillers with resin which explained the excellent mechanical strength enhancement of the composite
