Universal behavior of quantum Green's functions
We consider a general one-particle Hamiltonian H = - \Delta_r + u(r) defined
in a d-dimensional domain. The object of interest is the time-independent Green
function G_z(r,r') = . Recently, in one dimension (1D),
the Green's function problem was solved explicitly in inverse form, with
diagonal elements of Green's function as prescribed variables. The first aim of
this paper is to extract from the 1D inverse solution such information about
Green's function which cannot be deduced directly from its definition. Among
others, this information involves universal, i.e. u(r)-independent, behavior of
Green's function close to the domain boundary. The second aim is to extend the
inverse formalism to higher dimensions, especially to 3D, and to derive the
universal form of Green's function for various shapes of the confining domain

Students’ satisfaction and teaching efficiency of university offer
This study analyses the factors affecting students’ satisfaction with university experience, focusing on the aspects characterising the teaching efficiency of educational offer. For this purpose, organisation of teaching activities, available information, teaching materials, and other facilities offered to students to make their learning experience more successful, are considered as indicators of teaching efficiency. Our interest in this topic is justified by the importance that students’ satisfaction assumes, not only as indicator of the quality of educational services but also for its relationship with overall life satisfaction and subjective well-being. A structural equation model with latent variables is estimated by using survey and administrative data of the University of Pisa. Main findings seem to show that teaching efficiency has a positive effect on satisfaction and suggest that whenever it is inadequate, or at least, considered as such, students are less satisfied for their university experience. The effects of other factors on students’ satisfaction such as studies organisation, social capital and internship experience are also discussed

The relationship between local structure and photo-Fenton catalytic ability of glasses and glass-ceramics prepared from Japanese slag
Local structure and the photo-Fenton reactivity of iron-containing glasses and glass-ceramics prepared from Japanese domestic waste slag were investigated. The largest rate constant (k) of (2.8 ± 0.08) × 10−2 min−1 was recorded for the methylene blue degradation test by using H2O2 with a heat-treated ‘model slag’. The 57Fe Mössbauer spectrum was composed of a paramagnetic doublet with isomer shift of 0.18 ± 0.01 mm s−1 attributed to distorted FeIIIO4 tetrahedra. These results indicate that the paramagnetic Fe3+ provided strong photo-Fenton catalytic ability, and that waste slag can thus be recycled as an effective visible-light activated photocatalyst
