    The Influence of eWOM Source Credibility and Product Involvement on Travel Product Purchasing Intention of Malaysian Chinese

    Electronic word of mouth (eWOM) has become one of the important reference before purchasing. Through sharing the use of experience and reference to online consumer evaluation, it enhances the autonomy of purchase decision-making. This study attempts to investigate whether eWOM source credibility and product involvement affect travel product-purchasing intention by using the international website, TripAdvisor, as the research scope. An online structured questionnaire is designed for Malaysian Chinese online users or whoever visits https://cn.tripadvisor.com/ to search destinations or travel information with random sampling method. The purposes of this study are listed as follows: (1) To study the influence of eWOM source credibility on the purchase intention of Malaysian Chinese. (2) To study the influence of product involvement on the purchase intention of Malaysian Chinese. (3) To study whether the degree of product involvement interfere with eWOM source credibility. Hope the result of this study can help Taiwan Tourist industry to understand the consumption patterns and to make effective marketing strategies before entering the Chinese tourism market in Malaysia. It also attempts to provide a reflection of the tourism-related combination of industry, official, and university to develop marketing strategy toward the ‘new southward policy’ while facing the rapid growth of global mobile commerce.     Keywords: eWOM, source credibility, product involvement, purchase intention, Malaysian Chines

    Self-compensation in manganese-doped ferromagnetic semiconductors

    We present a theory of interstitial Mn in Mn-doped ferromagnetic semiconductors. Using density-functional theory, we show that under the non-equilibrium conditions of growth, interstitial Mn is easily formed near the surface by a simple low-energy adsorption pathway. In GaAs, isolated interstitial Mn is an electron donor, each compensating two substitutional Mn acceptors. Within an impurity-band model, partial compensation promotes ferromagnetic order below the metal-insulator transition, with the highest Curie temperature occurring for 0.5 holes per substitutional Mn.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, to appear in Phys.     The effect of in-plane magnetic field on the spin Hall effect in Rashba-Dresselhaus system

    In a two-dimensional electron gas with Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit couplings, there are two spin-split energy surfaces connected with a degenerate point. Both the energy surfaces and the topology of the Fermi surfaces can be varied by an in-plane magnetic field. We find that, if the chemical potential falls between the bottom of the upper band and the degenerate point, then simply by changing the direction of the magnetic field, the magnitude of the spin Hall conductivity can be varied by about 100 percent. Once the chemical potential is above the degenerate point, the spin Hall conductivity becomes the constant e/8Ï€e/8\pi, independent of the magnitude and direction of the magnetic field. In addition, we find that the in-plane magnetic field exerts no influence on the charge Hall conductivity.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, to be published on Phys. Rev.

    Finite element implementation of state variable-based viscoplasticity models

    The implementation of state variable-based viscoplasticity models is made in a general purpose finite element code for structural applications of metals deformed at elevated temperatures. Two constitutive models, Walker's and Robinson's models, are studied in conjunction with two implicit integration methods: the trapezoidal rule with Newton-Raphson iterations and an asymptotic integration algorithm. A comparison is made between the two integration methods, and the latter method appears to be computationally more appealing in terms of numerical accuracy and CPU time. However, in order to make the asymptotic algorithm robust, it is necessary to include a self adaptive scheme with subincremental step control and error checking of the Jacobian matrix at the integration points.     On finite element implementation and computational techniques for constitutive modeling of high temperature composites

    The research work performed during the past year on finite element implementation and computational techniques pertaining to high temperature composites is outlined. In the present research, two main issues are addressed: efficient geometric modeling of composite structures and expedient numerical integration techniques dealing with constitutive rate equations. In the first issue, mixed finite elements for modeling laminated plates and shells were examined in terms of numerical accuracy, locking property and computational efficiency. Element applications include (currently available) linearly elastic analysis and future extension to material nonlinearity for damage predictions and large deformations. On the material level, various integration methods to integrate nonlinear constitutive rate equations for finite element implementation were studied. These include explicit, implicit and automatic subincrementing schemes. In all cases, examples are included to illustrate the numerical characteristics of various methods that were considered
