On dispersion and characteristic motions of temperature rate dependent materials

Experimental and theoretical investigation for the suppression of the plasma arc drop in the thermionic converter
Ion generation and recombination mechanisms in the cesium plasma as they pertain to the advanced mode thermionic energy converter were studied. The decay of highly ionized cesium plasma was studied in the near afterglow to examine the recombination processes. Very low recombination in such a plasma may prove to be of considerable importance in practical converters. The approaches of external cesium generation were vibrationally excited nitrogen as an energy source of ionization of cesium ion, and microwave power as a means of resonant sustenance of the cesium plasma. Experimental data obtained so far show that all three techniques - i.e., the non-LTE high-voltage pulsing, the energy transfer from vibrationally excited diatomic gases, and the external pumping with a microwave resonant cavity - can produce plasmas with their densities significantly higher than the Richardson density. The implication of these findings as related to Lam's theory is discussed
Pickoff and spin-conversion quenchings of ortho-positronium in oxygen
The quenching processes of the thermalized ortho-positronium(o-Ps) on an
oxygen molecule have been studied by the positron annihilation age-momentum
correlation techinique(AMOC). The Doppler broadening spectrum of the 511 keV
gamma-rays from the 2gamma annihilation of o-Ps in O_2 has been measured as a
function of the o-Ps age. The rate of the quenching, consisting of the pickoff
and the spin-conversion, is estimated from the positron lifetime spectrum. The
ratio of the pickoff quenching rate to the spin-conversion rate is deduced from
the Doppler broadening of the 511 keV gamma-rays from the annihilation of the
o-Ps. The pickoff parameter ^1Z_eff, the effective number of the electrons per
molecule which contribute to the pickoff quenching, for O_2 is determined to be
0.6 +- 0.4. The cross-section for the elastic spin-conversion quenching is
determined to be (1.16 +- 0.01) * 10^{-19} cm^2.Comment: 4 pages with 5 eps figures, LaTeX2e(revtex4
Collisions of antiprotons with hydrogen molecular ions
Time-dependent close-coupling calculations of the ionization and excitation
cross section for antiproton collisions with molecular hydrogen ions are
performed in an impact-energy range from 0.5 keV to 10 MeV. The
Born-Oppenheimer and Franck-Condon approximations as well as the impact
parameter method are applied in order to describe the target molecule and the
collision process. It is shown that three perpendicular orientations of the
molecular axis with respect to the trajectory are sufficient to accurately
reproduce the ionization cross section calculated by [Sakimoto, Phys. Rev. A
71, 062704 (2005)] reducing the numerical effort drastically. The
independent-event model is employed to approximate the cross section for double
ionization and H+ production in antiproton collisions with H2.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures, 4 table
Enhanced visibility of graphene: effect of one-dimensional photonic crystal
We investigate theoretically the light reflectance of a graphene layer
prepared on the top of one-dimensional Si/SiO2 photonic crystal (1DPC). It is
shown that the visibility of the graphene layers is enhanced greatly when 1DPC
is added, and the visibility can be tuned by changing the incident angle and
light wavelengths. This phenomenon is caused by the absorption of the graphene

Larkin-Ovchinnikov-Fulde-Ferrell phase in the superconductor (TMTSF)2ClO4: Theory versus experiment
We consider a formation of the Larkin-Ovchinnikov-Fulde-Ferrell (LOFF) phase
in a quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) conductor in a magnetic field, parallel to its
conducting chains, where we take into account both the paramagnetic
spin-splitting and orbital destructive effects against superconductivity. We
show that, due to a relative weakness of the orbital effects in a Q1D case, the
LOFF phase appears in (TMTSF)ClO superconductor for real values of its
Q1D band parameters. We compare our theoretical calculations with the recent
experimental data by Y. Maeno's group [S. Yonezawa et al., Phys. Rev. Lett.
\textbf{100}, 117002 (2008)] and show that there is a good qualitative and
quantitative agreement between the theory and experimental data.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur
Some Exact Results on the Potts Model Partition Function in a Magnetic Field
We consider the Potts model in a magnetic field on an arbitrary graph .
Using a formula of F. Y. Wu for the partition function of this model as a
sum over spanning subgraphs of , we prove some properties of concerning
factorization, monotonicity, and zeros. A generalization of the Tutte
polynomial is presented that corresponds to this partition function. In this
context we formulate and discuss two weighted graph-coloring problems. We also

Detecting Sockpuppets in Deceptive Opinion Spam
This paper explores the problem of sockpuppet detection in deceptive opinion
spam using authorship attribution and verification approaches. Two methods are
explored. The first is a feature subsampling scheme that uses the KL-Divergence
on stylistic language models of an author to find discriminative features. The
second is a transduction scheme, spy induction that leverages the diversity of
authors in the unlabeled test set by sending a set of spies (positive samples)
from the training set to retrieve hidden samples in the unlabeled test set
using nearest and farthest neighbors. Experiments using ground truth sockpuppet

Molecular-beam epitaxy of CrSi_2 on Si(111)
Chromium disilicide layers have been grown on Si(111) in a commercial molecularâbeam epitaxy machine. Thin layers (10 nm) exhibit two epitaxial relationships, which have been identified as CrSi_2(0001)//Si(111) with CrSi_2[1010]//Si[101], and CrSi_2(0001)//Si(111) with CrSi_2[1120]//Si[101]. The latter case represents a 30° rotation of the CrSi_2 layer about the Si surface normal relative to the former case. Thick (210 nm) layers were grown by four different techniques, and the bestâquality layer was obtained by codeposition of Cr and Si at an elevated temperature. These layers are not single crystal; the largest grains are observed in a layer grown at 825â°C and are 1â2 ÎŒm across
