The Relationship between Stock Price and EPS: Evidence Based on Taiwan Panel Data
In this study, we use panel cointegration methods to investigate the relationship between stock prices and earnings-per-share (EPS). Furthermore, we consider whether stock prices respond to EPS under the different level of growth rate of operating revenue. The empirical result indicated that the cointegration relationship existed between stock prices and EPS in the long-run. Furthermore, we found that for the firm with a high level of growth rate, EPS has less power in explaining the stock prices however, for the firm with a low level of growth rate, EPS has a strong impact in stock prices.Earnings Response Coefficient (ERC)

Paxillin facilitates timely neurite initiation on soft-substrate environments by interacting with the endocytic machinery.
Neurite initiation is the first step in neuronal development and occurs spontaneously in soft tissue environments. Although the mechanisms regulating the morphology of migratory cells on rigid substrates in cell culture are widely known, how soft environments modulate neurite initiation remains elusive. Using hydrogel cultures, pharmacologic inhibition, and genetic approaches, we reveal that paxillin-linked endocytosis and adhesion are components of a bistable switch controlling neurite initiation in a substrate modulus-dependent manner. On soft substrates, most paxillin binds to endocytic factors and facilitates vesicle invagination, elevating neuritogenic Rac1 activity and expression of genes encoding the endocytic machinery. By contrast, on rigid substrates, cells develop extensive adhesions, increase RhoA activity and sequester paxillin from the endocytic machinery, thereby delaying neurite initiation. Our results highlight paxillin as a core molecule in substrate modulus-controlled morphogenesis and define a mechanism whereby neuronal cells respond to environments exhibiting varying mechanical properties
AuthorRank: A New Scheme for Identifying Field-Specific Key Researchers
When navigating into a new research field, it is important to identify papers with greatest impact and prominent authors which we can refer to. This work is motivated by the need to identify key authors in research fields. Traditional indices such as h-index only show the overall performance of an author. However, researchers generally contribute to more than one fields of research in their career, which makes it impractical to use h-index for identifying a key researcher in a research field. In this paper we propose a new PageRank-based scheme named “AuthorRank” for identifying key researchers in a specific field. We show that the proposed ranking system performs better than h-index does
Flat Currents of the Green-Schwarz Superstrings in AdS_5 x S^1 and AdS_3 x S^3 backgrounds
We construct a one-parameter family of flat currents in AdS_5 x S^1 and AdS_3
x S^3 Green-Schwarz superstrings, which would naturally lead to a hierarchy of
classical conserved nonlocal charges. In the former case we rewrite the AdS_5 x
S^1 string using a new Z_4-graded base of the superalgebra su(2,2|2). In both
cases the existence of the Z_4 grading in the superalgebras plays a key role in
the construction. As a result, we find that the flat currents, when formally
written in terms of the G_0-gauge invariant lowercase 1-forms, take the same
form as the one in AdS_5 x S^5 case.Comment: 18 pages, LaTeX file. References added and typos correcte
Quantum Impurity in Luttinger Liquid: Universal Conductance with Entanglement Renormalization
We study numerically the universal conductance of Luttinger liquids wire with
a single impurity via the Muti-scale Entanglement Renormalization Ansatz
(MERA). The scale invariant MERA provides an efficient way to extract scaling
operators and scaling dimensions for both the bulk and the boundary conformal
field theories. By utilizing the key relationship between the conductance
tensor and ground-state correlation function, the universal conductance can be
evaluated within the framework of the boundary MERA. We construct the boundary
MERA to compute the correlation functions and scaling dimensions for the
Kane-Fisher fixed points by modeling the single impurity as a junction (weak
link) of two interacting wires. We show that the universal behavior of the
junction can be easily identified within the MERA and argue that the boundary
MERA framework has tremendous potential to classify the fixed points in general
multi-wire junctions.Comment: 14 pages, 18 figure

Effects of natto extract on endothelial injury in a rat model
Vascular endothelial damage has been found to be associated with thrombus formation, which is considered to be a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. A diet of natto leads to a low prevalence of cardiovascular disease. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of natto extract on vascular endothelia damage with exposure to laser irradiation. Endothelial damage both in vitro and in vivo was induced by irradiation of rose bengal using a DPSS green laser. Cell viability was determined by MTS assay, and the intimal thickening was verified by a histological approach. The antioxidant content of natto extract was determined for the free radical scavenging activity. Endothelial cells were injured in the presence of rose bengal irradiated in a dose-dependent manner. Natto extract exhibits high levels of antioxidant activity compared with purified natto kinase. Apoptosis of laser-injured endothelial cells was significantly reduced in the presence of natto extract. Both the natto extract and natto kinase suppressed intimal thickening in rats with endothelial injury. The present findings suggest that natto extract suppresses vessel thickening as a synergic effect attributed to its antioxidant and anti-apoptosis properties
The Study of the Optimal Parameter Settings in a Hospital Supply Chain System in Taiwan
This study proposed the optimal parameter settings for the hospital supply chain system (HSCS) when either the total system cost (TSC) or patient safety level (PSL) (or both simultaneously) was considered as the measure of the HSCS’s performance. Four parameters were considered in the HSCS: safety stock, maximum inventory level, transportation capacity, and the reliability of the HSCS. A full-factor experimental design was used to simulate an HSCS for the purpose of collecting data. The response surface method (RSM) was used to construct the regression model, and a genetic algorithm (GA) was applied to obtain the optimal parameter settings for the HSCS. The results show that the best method of obtaining the optimal parameter settings for the HSCS is the simultaneous consideration of both the TSC and the PSL to measure performance. Also, the results of sensitivity analysis based on the optimal parameter settings were used to derive adjustable strategies for the decision-makers
