This article examines some interventions of Asian Australian writing into the debate over multiculturalism, and the shift from negative stereotyping of Asian migrants, to reification of racial divisions and propagation of a masked racism, to the creation of new alignments and the revival of pre-existing affiliations by migrant and second generation subjects. It compares the practices of not-at-homeness by Asian migrants and their descendants and white Australians in Hsu Ming Teo’s Behind the Moon with those of a Sri Lankan refugee and a white Australian traveller in Michelle de Kretser’s Questions of Travel. The changing concepts of belonging in the novels show a realignment of core and periphery relations within the nation state under the pressures of multiculturalism and globalization: where home is and how it is configured are questions as important for white Australians whose sense of territory is challenged as they are for Asian migrants who seek to establish a new belonging

Customers are the focus of everything we do. (EasyCall-Annual Report 1995). This is one of EasyCall\u27s guiding principles. In this pursuit, the company has adopted the Total Quality Management (TQM) policy which is focused on achieving continuous improvement on the services level and processes that translate into a higher customer satisfaction. The main aim of this study is to determine the perception of EasyCall subscribers towards the company\u27s services in terms of Message Handling Services, Billing and Collection and Front Office. The researchers conducted a survey through quota and judgment sampling with 200 respondents. It was conducted at the Front Office of EasyCally, different malls, and top universities in the Philippines namely De La Salle University (DLSU), Ateneo de Manila (ADMU), and University of the Philippines (UP). The questionnaire was divided into three parts regarding the following areas: first part is on what customers look for in a pager and their demographic profile second part asks about the perception of the respondents on five paging companies in terms of accessibility of paging lines, popularity, fees/rates, efficiency in sending messages, and accuracy of messages sent and the third part is on their level of satisfaction wherein the respondents where asked to choose from excellent, good and needs improvement rating on the different services the three departments offer

THYMOMA: A clinicopathological correlation of 1470 cases.

We present 1470 surgical resections for thymoma identified in the pathology files of 14 institutions from 11 countries with the purpose to determine and correlate a simplified histological classification of thymoma and pathological staging with clinical outcome. The study population was comprised of 720 men and 750 women between the ages of 12 and 86years (average: 54.8years). Clinically 137 patients (17%) had a history of myasthenia gravis, 31 patients (3.8%) of other autoimmune disease, and 55 (6.8%) patients of another neoplastic process. Surgical resection was performed in all patients. Histologically, 1284 (87.13%) cases were thymomas (World Health Organization [WHO] types A, B1, and B2, and mixed histologies), and 186 (12.7%) were atypical thymomas (WHO type B3). Of the entire group, 630 (42.9%) were encapsulated thymomas and 840 (57.9%) were invasive thymomas in different stages. Follow-up information was obtained in 1339 (91%) patients, who subsequently were analyzed by univariate and multivariate statistical analysis. Follow-up ranging from 1 to 384months was obtained (mean: 69.2months) showing tumor recurrence in 136 patients (10.1%), while 227 died- 64 (28.2%) due to tumor and 163 (71.8%) due to other causes. Statistical analysis shows that separation of these tumors into- thymoma and atypical thymoma- is statistically significant (P=.001), while tumor staging into categories of encapsulated, minimally invasive, and invasion into adjacent organs offers a meaningful clinical assessment with a p=value of 0.038. Our findings suggest that our simplified histological schema and pathological staging system are excellent predictors of clinical outcome

Typical and atypical carcinoid tumors of the lung: A Clinicopathological correlation OF OF 783 cases with Emphasis on histological features.

We present 783 surgical resections of typical and atypical carcinoid tumors of the lung identified in the pathology files of 20 different pathology departments. All cases were critically reviewed for clinical and pathological features and further correlated with clinical outcome. Long-term follow-up was obtained in all the patients and statistically analyzed to determine significance of the different parameters evaluated. Of the histopathological features analyzed, the presence of mitotic activity of 4 mitoses or more per 2mm, necrosis, lymphatic invasion and lymph node metastasis were identified as statistically significant. Tumors measuring 3 cm or more were also identified as statistically significant and correlate with clinical outcome. Based on our analysis, we consider that the separation of low and intermediate grade neuroendocrine neoplasms of the lung needs to be readjusted in terms of mitotic count as the risk of over grading these neoplasms exceeds 10% under the current criteria. We also consider that tumor size is an important feature to be considered in the assessment of these neoplasms and together with the histological grade of the tumor offers important features that can be correlated with clinical outcome
