There are many ways to name the transformation linked to the digital economy: Industry 4.0, Convergence, Digital Revolution. In this contribution I try to systematize the role of design in this transformation. So, alongside the enabling technologies we support the centrality and innovative potential activators of approaches that are driven by contemporary cultures design. The contribution provides a map of the playing field for this transformation by highlighting the dual and simultaneous ongoing transformation and the connections between technology and design practices. The work ends with a detailed list of potential that can be activated using integrations between enabling and activating approach technologies. Keywords: advanced design, Industry 4.0, digital revolution, information and communication technologies

The Latin network for the development of design processes in its First International Forum discusses whether or not there has been a rediscovery of Latin tradition, and the reasons behind local identities in the countries that create the network. We seek to understand the new axis of macro tradition that design culture springs from. At the same time, we verify whether the Latin linguistic-cultural tradition has provided a common base in which we can trace elements of permanence that are similar in each country. Key words: design as a process, identity, Latin tradition, postcolonial approach.

The paper investigates the role of design as mediator in between culture, creativity, industry and top down policies. In that respect, it is responsible for enabling the creation of CCI ecosystems, overcoming the traditional antagonism between culture and economy, creativity and industry. After de ning the CCIʼs phenomenon on a Europe- an scale, the contribution tries to describe how design is part of this phenomenon but its nature does not belong nei- ther to culture or creativity nor industry, but at the intersec- tion of the three, thanks to its ability of integrating di erent knowledge and interests within the production processes, multiplying values. Through the description of various creative eco- system models, the paper aims to establish the interactive role of design processes, practices and design cultures in the creation of these CCI systems within the Smart Special- ization Strategy (S3), to enhance the cultural and creative vibrancy and metabolism in cities
