Green Root Collective Action for Conservation of Agri-Bio Diversity: a Case Study in Tuscany
The literature on environmental policy shows that institutional arrangements are key in designing effective environmental policies. Besides regulation and market (Coasian) solutions, grass root collective action has been advocated as a possible solution for the provision of agro-environmental public goods. We gauge that the same institutional arrangement can be found in many territorially integrated food chains that aims at re-embedding food production in the local society. Building on this literature, we present a case study - a short supply chain for bread production from ancient local wheat landraces in Tuscany – emphasizing the role played by collective action in maintaining high quality production in a context of severe information asymmetries
Differences in larval morphology of allopatric isolated populations of the odontophrynus occidentalis group from western argentina
A morphological comparative study of two larval populations - one from Mendoza and the other an isolated one from Sierra Famatina (La Rioja) - of the Argentine toad, Odontophrynus occidentalis, is reported.
The Systematic Status and Biology of Telmatobius montanus Lataste (Amphibia, Leptodactylidae)
The poorly known Telmatobius montanus was rediscovered in the high Andean mountains between Mendoza and Talca on the Argentinian- Chilean frontier. Morphological characters of the adults and tadpoles are described. There is convergence in male secondary sex characters toward the leptodactylid frogs of the genus Eupsophus (nodosus group).Material digitalizado en SEDICI gracias a la colaboración del Dr. Jorge Williams (FCNM-UNLP).Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Muse
Remarks on some adaptive ecological trends of Pelobates cultripes from Portugal: thermal requirement, rate of development and water regulation
Spawning, tadpole biology, rate of development, tolerance to water loss and water absorption, of Pelobates cultripes from Portugal, were studied, having in mind similar researchs carried out on western American spadefoots.Material digitalizado en SEDICI gracias a la colaboración del Dr. Jorge Williams (FCNM-UNLP).Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Muse

Osteological differences in allopatric populations of the Odontophrynus occidentalis group from Western Argentina
An osteological comparison of new-metamorphosed specimens from three populations of the O. occidentalis group was carried out.
The results confirm the accentuated differentiation of the Sierra Famatina population.Material digitalizado en SEDICI gracias a la colaboración del Dr. Jorge Williams (FCNM-UNLP).Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Muse
