Connecting the generalized robustness and the geometric measure of entanglement
The main goal of this paper is to provide a connection between the
generalized robustness of entanglement () and the geometric measure of
entanglement (). First, we show that the generalized robustness is
always higher than or equal to the geometric measure. Then we find a tighter
lower bound to based only on the purity of and its maximal
overlap to a separable state. As we will see it is also possible to express
this lower bound in terms of .Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures. Comments welcome. v2: text improved - some
completely symmetric states were used to illustrate the results. Comments are

Blowing up generalized Kahler 4-manifolds
We show that the blow-up of a generalized Kahler 4-manifold in a
nondegenerate complex point admits a generalized Kahler metric. As with the
blow-up of complex surfaces, this metric may be chosen to coincide with the
original outside a tubular neighbourhood of the exceptional divisor. To
accomplish this, we develop a blow-up operation for bi-Hermitian manifolds.Comment: 16 page
A new broken U(1)-symmetry in extreme type-II superconductors
A phase transition within the molten phase of the Abrikosov vortex system
without disorder in extreme type-II superconductors is found via large-scale
Monte-Carlo simulations. It involves breaking a U(1)-symmetry, and has a
zero-field counterpart, unlike vortex lattice melting. Its hallmark is the loss
of number-conservation of connected vortex paths threading the entire system
{\it in any direction}, driving the vortex line tension to zero. This tension
plays the role of a generalized ``stiffness'' of the vortex liquid, and serves
as a probe of the loss of order at the transition, where a weak specific heat
anomaly is found.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
Anomalous electron trapping by localized magnetic fields
We consider an electron with an anomalous magnetic moment g>2 confined to a
plane and interacting with a nonzero magnetic field B perpendicular to the
plane. We show that if B has compact support and the magnetic flux in the
natural units is F\ge 0, the corresponding Pauli Hamiltonian has at least 1+[F]
bound states, without making any assumptions about the field profile.
Furthermore, in the zero-flux case there is a pair of bound states with
opposite spin orientations. Using a Birman-Schwinger technique, we extend the
last claim to a weak rotationally symmetric field with B(r) = O(r^{-2-\delta})
correcting thus a recent result. Finally, we show that under mild regularity
assumptions the existence can be proved for non-symmetric fields with tails as
well.Comment: A LaTeX file, 12 pages; to appear in J. Phys. A: Math. Ge
Bell inequalities for continuous-variable correlations
We derive a new class of correlation Bell-type inequalities. The inequalities
are valid for any number of outcomes of two observables per each of n parties,
including continuous and unbounded observables. We show that there are no
first-moment correlation Bell inequalities for that scenario, but such
inequalities can be found if one considers at least second moments. The
derivation stems from a simple variance inequality by setting local commutators
to zero. We show that above a constant detector efficiency threshold, the
continuous variable Bell violation can survive even in the macroscopic limit of
large n. This method can be used to derive other well-known Bell inequalities,
shedding new light on the importance of non-commutativity for violations of
local realism.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figure. v2: New results on detector efficiencies and

DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION AND EVALUATION OF A THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY METER BASED ON ASTM E1225 STANDARD
The focus of this work is the design, construction and evaluation of a thermal conductivity meter apparatus based on ASTM E- 1225 standard. The thermal conductivity is a heat-transport propriety and with the development of new materials the determination of thermophysical properties for its correct use becomes necessary. The apparatus was projected in CAD software and the material selection was done following the standard recommendations. For the meter bars were used 304 stainless steel, since its thermal conductivity is known. The heater was made with an aluminum cylinder block and a cartridge electric resistance. The cooling system was assembled using a Peltier thermoelectric plate and a fin heat sink equipped with a fan. Lastly, a steel pipe was used for building the guard cylinder. In order to evaluate the apparatus, the first specimen tested was the 304 stainless steel, the same material as the meter bars. The result of thermal conductivity showed an error of 6% relative to the value found in literature. However, in this test the temperature of isothermal guard cylinder was lower than the temperature required by the standard. Thus, the future goals will be the development of a temperature control for the guard cylinder and realization of more tests with different materials
Constructions of generalized complex structures in dimension four
Four-manifold theory is employed to study the existence of (twisted)
generalized complex structures. It is shown that there exist (twisted)
generalized complex structures that have more than one type change loci. In an
example-driven fashion, (twisted) generalized complex structures are
constructed on a myriad of four-manifolds, both simply and non-simply
connected, which are neither complex nor symplectic
