Industrial Mining Tourism as a Development Strategy in Geographical Areas in Decline.

Profit and viability persistence: evidence from the Spanish agricultural sector
The literature focused on analyzing profit persistence in the agricultural sector is scarce. This paper contributes to reducing this gap by carrying out an empirical study of 10 types of farming in Spain based on a dynamic panel model with microeconomic data from a large sample of farms provided by the Spanish Farm Accountancy Data Network. The generalized method of moments system estimator is used to assess profit persistence, including all significant lagged profit rates explaining the adjustment of abnormal profits over time. Moreover, the dynamic of farms' economic performance is analyzed considering the return on assets as a dependent variable (i.e., measuring farms' profitability), as well as an alternative indicator that also accounts for opportunity costs (i.e., measuring farms' viability). The results show that profit and viability persistence in the farming sector are complex dynamic processes that depend on several lags of the aforementioned dependent variables (between 2 and 5 years), with high abnormal profit and viability persistence being widespread. In any case, heterogeneous persistence results are achieved depending on the type of farming. The differences found can be explained by disparities in several explanatory variables contributing to above- or below-average performance. The conclusions reached could lead to sounder decision-making regarding agricultural policy (i.e., farm subsidies) and competition policy (i.e., exceptions to competition law). Tourism and socio-economic development. An analysis of the Island of Santiago (Cape Verde)
sol y playa, turismo cultural, gastronómico, ecoturismo, agroturismo,...
sociales. It is very important to the tourism sector in poor countries as an engine of
endogenous development, reaching greater role in countries that have a unique
attraction, allowing a sectorial development of this phenomenon. In this way, we can
segment according to the main attractions that attract tourists in: tourism of Sun and
beach, cultural, gastronomic tourism, ecotourism, rural tourism,... In turn this sector can
involve a significant socio-economic growth to the area and, in turn, serve to strengthen
other business activities. In this way, tourism is becoming an engine of development in
some African countries, in which the enhancement of different resources is articulating
the creation of a sustainable tourist offer that serves to respond to the demand for a more
discerning travelers and looking for new experiences. In this communication are a
study in the Santiago Island (Cape Verde) on the importance of tourism, as an
alternative to the traditional tourist destinations, and allowing more contact with the
local community and get new experiences for travellers. So we present the results of a
field work carried out on this island where he analyzes and discusses the valuation and
the perception that have travelers who visit this island on various aspects underlying
tourism of the same. The main results of this study highlight the quality of the services
offered by the companies, the importance of natural resources in the area and the
hospitality of the local community, key elements for the development of this kind of
tourism. They happen to be for both these elements the key essential for the
development of a form of unique tourism such as community-based tourism: the
involvement of the local community in the development of tourism, unfolding at the
same time elements of development such as democracy and social planningextending
the development not only to economic aspects as well, but that it transcends political
and social processes
Food Markets: A Motivation-Based Segmentation of Tourists
Food markets are becoming popular as new spaces for recreation, and this research aims to discover the motivations driving the tourists that visit these markets. Factorial analysis, cluster analysis and Student’s t-test were applied on 456 surveys from two food markets in Córdoba (Spain). Three motivational factors were obtained: Gastronomic experience and novelty; hedonism and leisure; and the relationship of the experience with work. Segmenting and analyzing the profile of the tourist may help economic agents develop new strategies for the tourism management of a destination and more accurate marketing and branding strategies that target specific customers with a niche message. The study could help develop products that align with tourists’ motives to increase satisfaction and loyalty
Sustainable Tourism as a Source of Healthy Tourism
Even though the World Tourism Organization described Sustainable Tourism as a tourism form that could contribute to the future survival of the industry, the current reality is quite different, since it has not been firmly established in society at expected levels. The present study analyzes which variables drive the consumption of this tourism type, taking tourist awareness as the key element. To this awareness, we must add the current crisis experienced by the tourism industry caused by COVID-19, since it can benefit Sustainable Tourism development, promoting less crowded destinations that favor social distancing. For this, the existing literature on Sustainable Tourism has been examined in order to create a model that highlights the relations among these variables. To determine the meaning of these relations, a sample of 308 tourists was analyzed through structural equation models using Partial Least Squares. The results show that there is a clear attitude on the part of the tourist to develop Sustainable Tourism, driven by the positive effects and motivation it entails, as well as the satisfaction the tourist perceives when consuming a responsible tourism type
Quality, satisfaction, and loyalty indices
This study developed a universal model to evaluate the quality of, satisfaction with and loyalty to destinations among tourists. It also demonstrated the model’s applicability.Cause and effect relationships were identified between the proposed model’s constructs using the structural equations method, and indices of quality, satisfaction and loyalty among tourists were estimated as well. This system was applied to a large set of data collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to tourists visiting the city of Seville, and based on a non-probabilistic sampling by intentional quotas. 922 valid surveys were obtained in total. The indices show that tourists who visit Seville report a high level of loyalty and satisfaction with this place because of the perceived quality of a variety of services
