Brecha generacional y condiciones de los académicos para la producción de conocimiento en México

The article arises from the interest in analyzing the conditions of researchers in the production of knowledge in the different stages of development of their careers. The analytical emphasis took place in the generational dimension and discusses some meritocratic mechanisms of legitimation that exist in the gaps generationals between researchers. This article presents part of the analysis of the empirical work of the research “Academic freedom and the conditions of production and collective mobilization of knowledge of the researchers ”, with the representation of twelve interviews conducted at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, that belong to the National System of Researchers (NSR). The results indicate, in one hand, that for academics who are starting their careers it is increasingly important to be part of the NSR, due to the need to be able to access to a better working conditions, and in the other hand, that for the academics with more experience the interest is focused on permanence, even when they can access the retirement stage, because they stop having a contractual relationship with the University and therefor, they will lose the distinction of the NRS and the economic stimulus.Este texto surge del interés por conocer las condiciones de las y los investigadores para la producción de conocimiento en sus diversas etapas de desarrollo. Pone énfasis analítico en la dimensión generacional, y somete a discusión algunos mecanismos meritocráticos de legitimación de las brechas existentes entre investigadores pertenecientes a diferentes rangos generacionales. El artículo muestra parte del análisis del trabajo empírico de la investigación “La libertad académica y las condiciones de producción y movilización colectiva de conocimiento de los investigadores”, con la representación de doce entrevistas realizadas en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México a los académicos que pertenecen al Sistema Nacional de Investigadores. Entre los hallazgos encontramos que para los y las académicos que inician sus carreras resulta cada vez más importante formar parte del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI), por la necesidad de poder acceder a mejores condiciones laborales; para los y las académicos con mayor experiencia el interés se centra en la permanencia, incluso cuando pueden acceder a la etapa de jubilación, ya que, al dejar de tener una relación contractual con la Universidad, perderán la distinción del SNI y su estímulo económico

Gender-based analysis of the accumulated disadvantages of researchers in the processes of knowledge production in Mexico

El presente escrito tiene el objetivo de analizar con visión de género la percepción de los investigadores de tiempo completo que forman parte del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI), sobre las condiciones que impactan en la producción del conocimiento y la libertad académica en dos contextos universitarios en México. El propósito es de hacer evidente las desventajas que acarrean las pautas socio-culturales del sistema sexo-género en la labor y desempeño de las investigadoras; además de testar si estos pueden ser elementos que impiden romper con el techo de cristal en las instituciones educativas, así como alcanzar la anhelada conciliación familiar. El análisis empírico a reportar parte de la investigación denominada “La libertad académica y las condiciones de producción y movilización colectiva de conocimiento de los investigadores”, con la representación de 25 entrevistas realizadas en dos Instituciones de Educación Superior Públicas mexicanas la Universidad de Guadalajara (U de G) y la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), las cuales forman parte del rainking de las mejores Instituciones de Educación Superior en Latinoamérica.This article aims to analyze under the gender lens the perception of full-time researchers who are part of the National System of Researchers (SNI by its acronym in Spanish, Sistema Nacional de Investigadores). The texts focus on the conditions that impact on the production of knowledge and academic freedom in two university contexts in Mexico, with the purpose of demonstrating the disadvantages that the sociocultural patterns of the sex-gender system imply for the work and performance of the women researchers; in addition to certify if these can be elements that avoid breaking with the glass ceiling in educational institutions, and reach the desired family conciliation. The empirical analysis results from a research entitled “Academic freedom and the conditions of collective production and mobilization of knowledge of researchers”, which involved 25 interviews in two Mexican Public Higher Education Institutions: the University of Guadalajara (U of G) and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Both are part of the rainking that evaluate the best Higher Education Institutions in Latin America
