SUCCESS CONCEPT ANALYSIS APPLIED TO THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROJECT MANAGEMENT

This study evaluates the concept of success in project management that is applicable to the IT universe, from the classical theory associated with the techniques of project management. Therefore, it applies the theoretical analysis associated to the context of information technology in enterprises as well as the classic literature of traditional project management, focusing on its application in business information technology. From the literature developed in the first part of the study, four propositions were prepared for study which formed the basis for the development of the field research with three large companies that develop projects of Information Technology. The methodology used in the study predicted the development of the multiple case study. Empirical evidence suggests that the concept of success found in the classical literature in project management adjusts to the environment management of IT projects. Showed that it is possible to create the model of standard IT projects in order to replicate it in future derivatives projects, which depends on the learning acquired at the end of a long and continuous process and sponsorship of senior management, which ultimately results in its merger into the company culture

Análise da gestão de stakeholders aplicada ao gerenciamento de projetos de tecnologia da informação

This study evaluates the approach between the management of the power of influence of stakeholders on the project, in the framework of projects developed in the area of information technology through the application of the techniques of traditional project management. Thus, we developed four propositions, which supported the development of field research, by means of literature developed in the first part of the article. The research was conducted with three major IT companies, using the techniques of traditional project management for at least five years. The research methodology was based on multiple case study. Empirical evidence collected suggests that the concept of successful IT project, found in the classical literature, shows dependence on the management of the power of influence of stakeholders in this project.Este trabalho procura avaliar a aproximação existente entre o gerenciamento do poder de influência dos stakeholders sobre o projeto, no âmbito de projetos desenvolvidos  na área de Tecnologia da Informação, mediante a aplicação das técnicas de gerenciamento de projetos tradicionais. Para tanto, foram elaboradas quatro proposições, que fundamentaram o desenvolvimento da pesquisa de campo, por meio do levantamento bibliográfico desenvolvido na primeira parte do artigo. A pesquisa foi realizada junto a três grandes empresas de TI, que utilizam as técnicas de gerenciamento de projetos tradicional há pelo menos cinco anos. A metodologia da pesquisa baseou-se no estudo de casos múltiplos. As evidências empíricas coletadas sugerem que o conceito de sucesso do projeto de TI, encontrado na literatura clássica, apresenta dependência com a gestão do poder de influência dos interessados nesse projeto

A Integração do Gerenciamento de Projetos com a Proposta de Stage-Gate: O Relato do Caso Projeto Sintonia

This paper aims to describe and to analyze the integration observed in the Sintonia project with respect to the comparison of project management processes to the model of the Stage-Gate ®. The literature addresses these issues conceptually, but lack an alignment between them that is evident in practice. As a method was used single case study. The report is as if the Sintonia project, developed by PRODESP - Data Processing Company of São Paulo. The results show the integration of project management processes with the Stage-Gate model developed during the project life cycle. The formalization of the project was defined in stages in which allowed the exploitation of economies of repetition and recombination to the development of new projects. This study contributes to the technical vision in dealing with the integration of project management processes. It was concluded that this system represents an attractive way, in terms of creating economic value and technological innovation for the organization.Este trabalho tem o objetivo de descrever e analisar a integração observada no projeto Sintonia® no que tange ao confronto dos processos de gerenciamento de projetos ao modelo do Stage-Gate®. A literatura trata destes assuntos conceitualmente, porém falta um alinhamento entre eles que seja evidenciado na prática. Como método foi utilizado o estudo de caso único. O relato tem como caso o projeto Sintonia, desenvolvido pela PRODESP - Companhia de Processamento de Dados do Estado de São Paulo. Os resultados mostram a integração dos processos de gerenciamento de projetos com o modelo Stage-Gate desenvolvido durante o ciclo de vida do projeto. A formalização dos processos do projeto foi definida em estágios, na qual permitiu a exploração de economias de repetição e recombinação para o desenvolvimento de novos projetos. Este estudo contribui com a visão técnica no que refere a integração de processos de gerenciamento de projetos. Concluiu-se que este sistema representa um caminho atrativo, em termos de criação de valor econômico e inovação tecnológica para a organização.DOI:10.5585/gep.v2i2.5
