Nanostructured amphiphilic systems based on hyaluronic acid ionic complexes

In this communication we wish to report on HyA ionic complexes prepared by coupling with a) choline-based surfactants (nACh·HyA complexes), and b) alkylphosphonium surfactants (nATMP·HyA complexes) with n being the number of carbons of the alkanoyl or alkyl side chain. nACh surfactants are synthesized from choline and fatty acids, and distinguished because they are fully biobased and biocompatible. The nATMP surfactants have been scarcely studied as counterions of polyacids in spite of being more stable to heat and less harmful than their alkylammonium analogs.Postprint (published version

Antimicrobial activity of poly(ester urea) electrospun fibers loaded with bacteriophages

The capacity to load bacteriophages into electrospun nanofibers of two representative biocompatible polymers has been evaluated, paying special attention to the possibility of preserving their antibacterial activity. Specifically, the work involves the following steps: (a) Evaluation of the effect of the applied electrical field on the phage activity; (b) evaluation of the activity when a lyophilization process could be avoided by using water soluble polymers (e.g., poly(ethylene glycol); (c) evaluation of the activity when dissolution of the polymer requires an organic solvent and lyophilization is theoretically necessary. In this case, a poly(ester urea) (PEU) derived from the natural L-leucine amino acid has been considered. Adsorption of commercial bacteriophage preparations into calcium carbonate particles was demonstrated to be a promising methodology to avoid lyophilization and keep the initial bactericide activity at a maximum. Intervención en la desnutrición en los Niños Menores de cinco años del Departamento del Amazonas

La propuesta tiene como finalidad mostrar la problemática que presenta el departamento del Amazonas en cuanto al alto porcentaje de desnutrición en los niños menores de cinco años, debido, a la difícil situación que afronta este territorio, en cuanto a la pobreza y el desempleo. Por lo tanto, se describe una serie de estrategias y actividades que buscan la intervención en la desnutrición de los niños de los diferentes municipios del Amazonas, con el apoyo de actores como alcaldías municipales, IPS, el ICBF, fundación éxito, y por supuesto el trabajo mancomunado de los administradores en Salud. Se presenta finalidad de la propuesta y el presupuesto necesario para llevarse a cabo. Las estrategias abordan la línea operativa de la promoción de la Salud y al enfoque de determinantes en Salud, según el Plan decenal de Salud Pública y de los 17 objetivos de desarrollo Sostenible se apunta al de Hambre Cero, ya que, la finalidad es disminuir los porcentajes de desnutrición en los niños menores de cinco años.The proposal aims to show the problem presented by the Amazon department in terms of the high percentage of malnutrition hildren under the age of five, due to the plight facing this territory, in terms of poverty and unemployment. Calidad de servicio en el canal moderno del sector Mejoramiento del Hogar en la Región Lima

El sector de mejoramiento del hogar en los últimos años ha mostrado un gran crecimiento sustentado en la variedad y calidad de los productos que ofrecen a sus clientes; impulsado por el incremento en la industria de construcción e inmobiliaria, generando así una mayor demanda en el mercado y una necesidad de mejorar la experiencia de compra para los clientes. Por ello, el presente trabajo de investigación ha determinado las diferencias entre la calidad de servicio percibida y las cinco dimensiones del modelo RSQSing en el canal moderno del rubro mejoramiento del hogar en la ciudad de Lima, teniendo en cuenta las características del perfil del cliente como la edad, género y frecuencia de compra. La encuesta se realizó de manera virtual a una muestra representativa de 384 clientes de las tiendas de Maestro, Sodimac, Promart y Cassinelli. Como resultado se tiene que existen diferencias entre cuatro dimensiones del modelo y la calidad de servicio general percibida. Con respecto a la variable género y grupo de edad se evidenció diferencias significativas entre algunas de las dimensiones evaluadas, sin embargo, la frecuencia de compra no presentó diferencias con ninguna de las dimensiones que conforman la calidad del servicio. Es importante señalar que el modelo aplicado brinda herramientas que permiten a la compañía gestionar y tomar decisiones que contribuyan a mejorar las relaciones con sus clientes, socios, trabajadores y competidores, con la finalidad de obtener los mejores resultados, cumplir con los objetivos propuestos y brindar a la compañía un valor agregado.The home improvement sector in recent years has shown great growth based on the variety and quality of the products they offer to their clients; driven by the increase in the construction and real estate industry, thus generating greater market demand and a need to improve the shopping experience for customers. That’s why, the present research work has determined the relationship between the perceived quality of service and the five dimensions of the RSQSing model in the modern channel of the category of home improvement in the city of Lima, taking into account the characteristics of the client's profile as the age, gender and frequency of purchase. The survey was carried out virtually to a representative sample of 384 customers from the Maestro, Sodimac, Promart and Cassinelli stores. As a result, there is a relationship between four dimensions of the model and the perceived general quality of service, with respect to the variable gender and age group, the influence was evident in some of the dimensions evaluated, however, the frequency of purchase did not present significant differences with none of the dimensions that make up the quality of the service. Ultracapacitors made with Hybrid conducting polymer–clay exfoliated nanocomposites

Ultracapacitors form exfoliated nanocomposites of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), and montmorillonite (MMT), have been fabricated, and have been characterized by electrochemical and macroscopic methods, found to present very good electrical properties (e.g. the specific capacitance), evidencing the favorable effect of the clay, and the thinness of the film.Peer Reviewe

Mineralization of DNA into nanoparticles of hydroxyapatite

Encapsulation of DNA into hydroxyapatite (HAp) has been investigated using a rational approach that involves computer simulation and experimental techniques. The temporal evolution of the radial distribution functions derived from atomistic molecular dynamics simulations of Ca2+, PO4 3− and OH−-containing aqueous solutions in the presence and absence of B-DNA has been used to conclude that the backbone of the double helix acts as a template for HAp growth. More specifically, results reveal the formation of calcium phosphate clusters at the first stages of the simulations, which subsequently reorganize to nucleate HAp. This effect is produced in the absence and, especially, presence, of DNA indicating that the biomolecules do not inhibit but even promote mineral growth. Furthermore, computer simulations suggest that the diffusion of the OH− anions through the inorganic solution is the limiting step for the nucleation of the biomineral. Nanocapsules and crystalline nanorods of HAp containing DNA molecules inside have been prepared by mixing solutions containing Ca2+ and PO4 3− ions with fish sperm DNA at high pH. The dimensions and morphology of such nanostructures have been examined by transmission electron microscopy, while the characterization of the biomineral has been focused on the identification of DNA inside HAp using infrared, X-ray photoelectron and UV-vis spectroscopies, as well as gel electrophoresis.
