Data processing on simulated data for SHARK-NIR
A robust post processing technique is mandatory to analyse the coronagraphic
high contrast imaging data. Angular Differential Imaging (ADI) and Principal
Component Analysis (PCA) are the most used approaches to suppress the
quasi-static structure in the Point Spread Function (PSF) in order to revealing
planets at different separations from the host star. The focus of this work is
to apply these two data reduction techniques to obtain the best limit detection
for each coronagraphic setting that has been simulated for the SHARK-NIR, a
coronagraphic camera that will be implemented at the Large Binocular Telescope
(LBT). We investigated different seeing conditions () for stellar
magnitude ranging from R=6 to R=14, with particular care in finding the best
compromise between quasi-static speckle subtraction and planet detection.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figures, proceeding for the fifth Adaptive Optics for

The Incidence of AIDS-Defining Illnesses at a Current CD4 Count ≥200 Cells/µL in the Post-Combination Antiretroviral Therapy Era
The incidence of AIDS was higher in patients with a current CD4 count of 500-749 cells/µL compared to 750-999 cells/µL, but did not decrease further at higher CD4 levels. Results were similar in those virologically suppressed on combination antiretroviral therapy, suggesting immune reconstitution is incomplete until CD4 >750/µ
MAVIS: The adaptive optics module feasibility study
The Adaptive Optics Module of MAVIS is a self-contained MCAO module, which delivers a corrected FoV to the postfocal scientific instruments, in the visible. The module aims to exploit the full potential of the ESO VLT UT4 Adaptive Optics Facility, which is composed of the high spatial frequency deformable secondary mirror and the laser guide stars launching and control systems. During the MAVIS Phase A, we evaluated, with the support of simulations and analysis at different levels, the main terms of the error budgets aiming at estimating the realistic AOM performance. After introducing the current opto-mechanical design and AO scheme of the AOM, we here present the standard wavefront error budget and the other budgets, including manufacturing, alignment of the module, thermal behavior and noncommon path aberrations, together with the contribution of the upstream telescope system
Insertion and rotation alignment of the asymmetric SP Focal Plane mask in the wheel
It presents a detailed procedure for aligning focal plane masks within the SHARK-NIR instrument, showcasing the precision and technical requirements necessary for achieving optimal performance in high-contrast astronomical observation
Prism alignment
The document focuses on the alignment procedure for the Low Resolution prism within the SHARK-NIR instrument, detailing the technical steps to ensure precise alignment within the optical system. It emphasizes the importance of alignment for optimal instrument performance, particularly in high-contrast imaging applications. Results from the alignment tests are discussed, demonstrating the procedure's success and its impact on the instrument's operational capabilities
