Característiques bàsiques de l’organització d’espais, d’ambients i dels tipus de materials que hauria d’estar present en les escoles d’educació infantil (3-6) per garantir pràctiques educatives de qualitat

Curs 2013-2014Amb el present treball es vol aprofundir en la manera que influeix l’organització d’espais, d’ambients i les característiques dels materials en el procés educatiu. A partir d’una recerca teòrica en base les necessitats educatives de la societat actual, les necessitats evolutives dels infants, i en base a l’observació i anàlisi d’escoles reggianes i catalanes referents que tenen en compte com a agent educador l’espai, els ambients i els materials, es volen reunir quines són les característiques bàsiques de l’organització dels espais, ambients i materials per garantir una educació de qualitat a l’etapa infantil (3-6).The aim of this work is to study in depth the influence that the organization of spaces and environments and the features of materials have on the educational process. Starting from theoretical investigations carried out on the educational needs of contemporary society, on the developing needs of young children and on the basis of observing and analysing different schools in Reggio Emilia and Catalonia which consider space, environment and material as an educating agent, the authors of current survey have made the effort of gathering the essential characteristics about the organization of spaces, environments and materials in order to guarantee the quality of Early Childhood Education(3-6)

Rotational smoothing

Rotational smoothing is a phenomenon consisting in a gain of regularity by means of averaging over rotations. This phenomenon is present in operators that regularize only in certain directions, in contrast to operators regularizing in all directions. The gain of regularity is the result of rotating the directions where the corresponding operator performs the smoothing effect. In this paper we carry out a systematic study of the rotational smoothing for a class of operators that includes $k$-vector-space Riesz potentials in $\mathbb{R}^n$ with $k<n$, and the convolution with fundamental solutions of elliptic constant-coefficient differential operators acting on $k$-dimensional linear subspaces. Examples of the latter type of operators are the planar Cauchy transform in $\mathbb{R}^n$, or a solution operator for the transport equation in $\mathbb{R}^n$. The analysis of rotational smoothing is motivated by the resolution of some inverse problems under low-regularity assumptions

T-cell modulation for the treatment of chronic plaque psoriasis with efalizumab (Raptiva (TM)): Mechanisms of action

Psoriasis is a chronic, incurable, auto-immune disorder with cutaneous manifestations. New evidence on the central role of the immune system in the pathogenesis of psoriasis increasingly provides insight into pathogenic steps that can be modulated to provide disease control. Numerous biological therapies are in various stages of clinical development, with expectation of providing enhanced safety and efficacy over currently available psoriasis therapies. Efalizumab, a recombinant humanized monoclonal IgG1 antibody, is a novel targeted T-cell modulator that inhibits multiple steps in the immune cascade that result in the production and maintenance of psoriatic plaques, including initial T-cell activation and T-cell trafficking into sites of inflammation, including psoriatic skin, with subsequent reactivation in these sites. This article reviews the pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic and clinical effects observed during phase I, II and III efalizumab trials in patients with moderate to severe chronic plaque psoriasis. A DEA-inspired approach to selecting parking areas for dangerous-goods trucks

The transport of dangerous goods by trucks requires special conditions for rest areas. By considering the set of existing service areas, the present work develops a procedure for selecting the subgroup of the most suitable service areas for modification in order to provide a service to dangerous-goods transporters. Under multiple criteria, a new DEA-inspired model is developed that uses the main characteristics of the problem under study with the goal of selecting the best locations. Through the application of this model to Spanish territory with the help of Geographical Information Systems, various solutions are suggested. The final decision on the number of areas to be located depends on corresponding authorities, whose main priority is to satisfy economic criteria

Leucomelanoderma in blacks

A recent epidemic of leucomelanoderma in Blacks is described. A total of 347 patients was seen in two hospitals during the survey period. The ratio of females to males was 7:1. A striking pattern af patchy depigmentation and mottled hypermelanosis occurred predominantly on the face and neck, but sometimes extended to other areas. Most but not all cases later showed repigmentation. The cause of the dyschromia appeared to be monobenzone, a bleaching agent recently included in certain overnight creams packed in wide-mouthed jars.S. Afr. Med. J., 48, 1555 (1974)
